I hope J sleeps better/later tonight king26! Enjoy your day off tomorrow. We're still away on vacation and it's been so nice. M has been so good and we've been having so much fun! But it is 9:45 and I'm in bed 😂. Vacations are a little different than they used to be!

M has finally gotten into having a blanket and manages to keep it on at least part of the night. Still sleepsack though to keep warm.
She still isn't saying much. She basically points and demands everything, lol.

jt2378 N points and points and occasionally babbles and I have no idea what he’s babbling so basically pointing. He does know that food in kept in the fridge bc I asked if he wanted lunch and he smiled and got up from playing and ran to the fridge. And the other night it was bottle time before bed and he came up to me and pointed at his bottle warmer and I was like oh it’s 8:15, whoops. And he got so excited when I pulled his bottle out of the fridge lol. Of course last night I don’t even know if he slept between 12-4. So that was awful. We took turns but woof. It’s like he does a nice stretch of STTN and then he’s a total asshole. Which means tonight he better be amazing lol. I’m so blah. Nervous about the elections. IL isn’t much cause for concern to me, it’s like more across the nation. And TW deaths / / / My old coworker who moved to Vegas two months ago called me Sunday night, I missed her call bc I was asleep, so her voicemail her voice sounded really upset. I called her when I got up Monday morning and she answered, freaking out bc her husband died suddenly (we think heart attack) and I feel awful. Her cries are haunting me. And I can’t fly out to be with her bc DHs work schedule is awful these two weeks, constant 28hr call cycles and no one to watch N overnight. AND we had a baby died at work. It was born with no heartbeat but they revived it and brought it to our unit and we spent an hour plus trying to revive it. It’s a twin and I’m just devastated for the family. It has been awhile since we had had a baby died so it was just really hard. Being told to stop chest compressions and stop everything, it just was a shitty day yesterday.

addymac, I'm so sorry, how horribly tragic. You are such an amazing person doing what you do in the NICU, it really takes a special kind of human being. Your poor friend, how truly awful. I will keep them in my prayers.

Things have been crazy here with work and the kids. And Everytime it rains my mold allergy flares to the point where I can barely function. My poor husband has been doing almost everything all week because I have had night events. To make it worse I completely forgot his birthday today!
At least we all got flu shots...

We moved into our new house last weekend. Terrible timing for kid sleep bc new house + daylight saving + L getting molars has sucked big time.
I can’t wait to finish unpacking bc L is climbing all over the boxes, and the baby gates we have don’t fit the steps. Waiting for new ones from Amazon so I can at least keep her off the steps.
She has gotten very toddler-y in the past week. 😳😬

A also says nothing. Grunts and points mostly. Even words he used to say, he won’t. I’m not sure what more I can do to coax him to use words.
He’s also still not walking and can’t stand unassisted. I know he’ll go at his own pace, but I still feel like I’m failing him sometimes.

Some kids just take longet.

So j has decided he hates getting strapped in to anything. The carseat. Stroller, high chair. He screams, thrives a fit, throws his binky until he is strapped in and then is totally fine. What the hell? Its stressing me out. Plus he goes ape shit during diaper changes and it's so hard to get him changed. Hes been wiggling and cranky during them for 2 or 3 months but now he bucks, stands up, screams and cries ( well like 3.out of 6 changes per day). I'm afraid hes going to fall off the changing table.

@easilyunamused You are NOT failing him! You’re an amazing mama!! He’s just doing his thing at his own pace and how he wants to. Some kids are just quieter. Does he interact a lot with other kids? That could help make him more verbal but it’s nothing to worry about yet. N wasn’t saying much and then he started play dates with a kid whose 18mo? And talking and so suddenly Noah started babbling a lot more. 95% makes no sense tho 🤷🏻♀️ But I noticed he was trying to do a lot more after hanging with this kid - monkey see monkey do effect.
You’re amazing and A is awesome! In a few months you’ll be like oh man. I kind of long for the days when he didn’t walk or run every minute of the day!

@easilyunamused You're a great mom. Kids do everything on their own time table. Keep doing what you're doing and he'll walk and talk when he's ready. king26 Nora hates being strapped into things too. My only advice is ditch the changing table and just change him on the floor. Lay him sideways and swing one of your legs over his hips/belly lightly. He won't be able to roll (or get poop on his hands). I had to do this with DS for like....a year.

@easilyunamused, you're an amazing mom. Don't stress yourself about these things. Kids do things on their own timeline and it's normal for language to ebb and flow. Also, like king26 said, it's totally normal for kids to not walk until 17 or 18 months. Big hugs. I get it though, I literally had to stop looking at milestone info because it was stressing me out so much and I was obsessing over them. king26, M also often fights beings strapped into things and diaper changes. I think she does not like her movement restricted. The diaper changes are the worst. I dread them because it's like wrestling an alligator.

addymac, So sorry about your friend and about the baby at work. I always thought it takes a special person to do what you do. It must be heart wrenching at times. @easilyunamused He's probably just going at his own pace. I don't think they call it a delay until 18 months. But I understand the anxiety. king26 You could try giving him a cookie, lol. That's still the only way I get baby H into his car seat. I wish he'd take a veggie wafer or something. Baby H hasn't really gained any more words. I'm not really concerned though bc he makes alot of noises and clearly understands us. We are finally almost off bottles to sippy cups. The first day was hard but he's finally picking it up. It's so funny bc at daycare there is a three year old who will still only take milk in bottles so our daycare provider tells him, look baby H is drinking from a sippy, but the three year old just stares at her.

Diaper changes have been a nightmare here since like 6 months old! She will not sit still!
Holy shit to a 3 year old with a bottle? I’m trying not to judge but I’m clutching pearls a little on that one. I mean not just for obvious reasons but what about his teeth?!
Are your kiddos using spoon or fork? I forget when that starts

Thank you all! It makes me feel better, I probably need to have more patience about these things. addymac, he mostly sees kids on the playground. We don’t have many play dates at all, I was hoping music class would help but they are all younger than him. He does babble a lot and seems to understand what we say to him.

king26, A has been whining during diaper changes for a few weeks. I think it’s because he doesn’t want to stop what he’s doing to go into the room.

jt2378, A kept wanting our fork and would eat from it when we loaded it with a bite of food. So we just bought him his own yesterday. He loved it. I usually loaded it myself and hand it to him.

I forget when that starts I just started giving J silverware last week. He kills me with it. He will pick up his food with his hand, put it on the spoon. Then put the spoon in his mouth. He gets the food in about 25% of the time

M of course fell asleep in my arms 30 mins before we had to pick D1 up. Now she currently has been screaming off and on and refusing to nap in her crib. She was up at 6:15, FML. I’m over this day 🙄
