I won't be able to listen, at least for a while. Can you share what they think in a small summary? A lot of it was the stuff we’ve been saying about how the senate and some of the very public races were long shots (Beto, Gillum, Abrams) but the fact that they came so close is amazing and a rising tide lifts all boats so they helped flip some congressional seats. The interesting parts to me were: -the key question to be solved is why some Dems won senate seats in red states and others didn’t - is it something they did differently or is it candidate quality or is it just those states. Like why did Tester win (barely phew) but Bredesen didn’t. -along the same lines ideology didn’t seem to be a clear factor. Beto and Gillum ran on progressive platforms and got closer than some moderates like Bredesen and McCaskill. But some moderates won. -they talked about how ideology might not matter as much as candidate quality and then went on a rant about how Beto, Abrams, and Gillum are the bar for inspiring and enthusiastic candidates who ran smart campaigns. They stayed positive and were laser focused on issues (Medicaid expansion for Abrams and economy for Beto and Gillum). They basically said that the 2020 candidate needs to at least meet that bar and if they cannot to get out of the way. I know there are a lot of people who scrunch noses at the “I need to be inspired” folks but I think there is truth to it. -and they just reiterated that the wins at the state and local level will help with voter suppression and lots of other issues (Medicaid expansion). I enjoyed the podcast today. I think the charisma angle is really important and the fact that Abrams Beto and Gillum did better than the more centrist less exciting candidates in red states like Bredesen etc says something about choosing candidates for 2020.

The Michelle Obama IVF stuff is just hitting me right in the feels. I’m always happy when a person with a platform speaks up about infertility, but that combined with Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade also announcing their daughter’s birth through surrogacy is just a huge win for Black women (and men) struggling with infertility. 😭😭😭

Alexandra Ocasio Cortez can’t afford a DC apt until her salary starts
I think someone close should let her couch surf and bring her here

I think it's so great for the loss and infertility communities that she is speaking out.
