What app can I download on my phone to listen to news coverage tomorrow? I need to be able to listen in my car and throughout the day. NPR has an app.

OK can we talk about CT govenor race for a second? We have 3 options carried by the statewide debates.
- The Republican. - The Democrat who is following a democrat who ruined the state - The Independent who used to be a Republican in the 90s and reformed as an independent
We have a classic 2016 presidential race issue. People here are split between rural voters for Trump (i.e. the Republican Candidate) and Democrats who don't want to vote for the Democrat because the current Govenor Democrat did nothing for the state, increased taxes, scared businesses away and was a terrible leader. There is also an Independent who used to be an R but he has reformed and now supports alot of great things including green energy, LGBTQ rights, Family medical leave etc.
Why I am worried because alot of people keep telling me, "I'm not voting in a D who will follow the current D" and in the same breathe say, "A third party candidate doesn't have a chance." Sigh. I can see 2016 again here. People need to be more serious about a third option. Whats the harm?

I had a dream that the election results were in and we flipped my district. I was so disappointed when I woke up.

Ok guys. Help me decide what to do tomorrow to keep me from losing my shit and freaking out all day. I'm off work and can send the kids to daycare or keep them home.

Binge watch the Amazon Prime series Forever, starring Maya Rudolph and Fred Armisen. Don’t read anything about the show before you watch it. Episode 6 is very good. 8 episodes (30 min each), so it doesn’t take that long to watch the whole thing. 👍 Make cookie dough and eat it. Put on a sheet mask - can be done concurrently while watching Forever. And for something productive....make a holiday/new year card on Shutterfly if that’s something you’re into. ETA - this is probably a sending kids to daycare scenario.

I'm so worried. I for one, had hope that Walker's recall in WI, would go... only to be dashed. Now, its really legitimately time to overturn this bullshit. Foxconn was a handshake and a promise, and new "news" hey this is a disaster for WI- may dent the huge red Waukesha county. I did listen to the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald ( which is a long, folksy dirge, if you don't know-- about a shipwreck in Lake Superior in which all the crew died) Perfect for a rainy night here in WI> A tradition for me in Nov (the month of the wreck) SO maybe that falls under self care? Or not either way The Wreck, Alices Restaurant (on tgiving) and Voting are my November must dos. I owe my existence to Alice's restaurant. 😂it's a personal favorite. Very embarrassed to admit this...but I may have Googled Alice’s Restaurant in Wisconsin to see why it was so amazing. There actually is one with decent reviews up in Iron River....😅😂😬 I have since realized it’s a song by Arlo Guthrie.

I’m going to probably be asleep for most of the election coverage, waking up to the results on my side of the world. It’s good and bad - I think I’ll be anxious to go to sleep - probably thinking “please don’t fuck up again America,” as I try to go to sleep. And then when I wake up, I imagine I’ll be cringing as I look at the news to see what results are coming in. The good news is that I get to sleep through most of the nerve-wracking time of waiting during the day.
Overseas absentee ballot was mailed a month ago and received in my home state, so DH and I are all good on that. 👍

Same here. I made the mistake in 2016 of peeking at my phone at 5am and then I could not get back to sleep after seeing all the red. I'll have to get up for work at 5am anyway this year, but no way am I peeking before that.
I was notified that my absentee ballot was counted, so all the questions I had to ask were worth it.

I'm also spending the next few days doing GOTV texting for AZ Dems. If you're interested in helping out, let me know or click the link! They were still a bunch of shifts short when they sent my confirmation email last night. bit.ly/DigiVolShifts

I know I'm going to wake up motn to nurse the baby and not be able to keep myself from checking and either way, good or bad, I'm sure I won't be able to sleep again. Sigh.

Because I will not know what to do with myself after the election (don't even suggest sitting still. That's not how I roll), I'm already starting to think about my civic literacy project. I made a thread for thinking out loud about it and I'd love any feedback you guys have.

I hope they don't do anything to put our service members in danger. This should be denounced by a commander in chief. But that assumes the commander in chief gives a flying shit about the members of the military.

Right? Also I think it needs to be noted that it takes a whole lot more than a governor to "ruin" a state, and I feel like we have been struggling for a while. It's like saying a president is responsible for the economy. It's so short-sighted to say that a governor is the reason for all of the state's problems or triumphs. It's the legislature that has the real power to make change. What we need is a governor who is a good spokesperson and can say the right thing at the right time and bring people together. Ned Lamont is not my first choice by far for governor, but at least in his campaign ads he is talking about how we are all a family and are all in this together, so he has my vote. All his opponent can talk about is cutting taxes (dude you don't have the power to do this...it's not how state government works) and his plan for rebuilding the economy (again...you can't do this unless you can convince all of the democrats in the legislature to do it...in other words it's just not happening). Independent is a non-factor in this race IMHO.
