New week! I didn’t see a new randoms post yet.
I cannot sleep. I’m so uncomfortable laying down. My back aches, my chest hurts, last night I had a leg cramps. I’m using the pregnancy pillow but I don’t know if it’s helping or hurting. Anyone have any tips? I miss sleep!

So sorry strawberrykiki! I just take a unisom every night and that helps lol. Also have PT for my back and it's already made a difference in back pain in less than a week, maybe something you could look into?

strawberrykiki no advice here. I haven’t been sleeping great either, minus last night. I don’t think I even woke up to pee which hasn’t happened in months. I think my body was just exhausted and I’m thankful I got some decent rest but that certainly doesn’t happen often. I’m no help but I hope you’re able to sleep better tonight!

Those of you with heartburn/acid reflux, have you been using anything to help your symptoms? The last 3-4 days have been terrible. Last pregnancy I was told Tums were the way to go. This time my OB said no to Tums but that I could use Zantac. I’ve read online it’s considered a Schedule B drug and safe for pregnancy but I’m still slightly skeptical.

cch I’ve taken Zantac a few times. It’s on my OB’s list of approved medicine. I try not to take it all the time but when it gets really bad taking one definitely helps.

cch I take Prilosec daily (and have for years due to a hiatal hernia) and OB has no problem with it. The OTC dose is 20mg but I get a script for 10mg and it works almost as well, and research shows it has much lower chance of long term issues. Although during pregnancy i take 20mg because pregnancy makes reflux so much worse!

cch, curious why no to Tums? I have been taking them from time to time (and all through my last pregnancy). I had thought it was safe.

Tums really do nothing for me, but I take them sometimes anyways. I am definitely not against taking Zantac, it’s the same category as Tylenol 🤷🏻♀️. I’ve also heard of drinking apple cider vinegar to break down the acid or something?

DS2 woke up with a fever and still has trouble breathing so back to the dr we went. We got more steroids, which is fun bc they make him a bear but I do think they help his breathing. The dr thinks there might be something underlying going on since he still has stridor after steroids and 3 breathing treatments. So I’m home with my sicky boys and I’m just amazed that I’m not sick yet. I’m sure it will hit me Thursday when I have to go back to work.

I took Zantac (75 mg I think?) daily for the last month of my pregnancy with ds2. The acid reflux was awful.
I also cannot sleep lately. I have been so hot and uncomfortable, and wake up to pee 6-8 times per night. And I'm still on diclegis so technically that should be helping but not really.

strawberrykiki sunshiney Thanks for the suggestions, I picked up some Zantac 75mg today so next time it gets to where I feel like I could breathe fire I’ll take some. FX it works for me because it has been OOC this week! k tums didn’t always help me during my last pregnancy either but I always had them with me just incase 🤷🏼♀️ I loved the taste of them when I was pregnant with DD too. So weird lol Hope your DS2 is feeling better soon! Poor guy. FX you don’t catch it! notagoddess I should have been more clear when I said no tums. Sorry! She said tums likely won’t help and will actually create more stomach acid so I’ve been steering clear this pregnancy but I trust the OB I had with DD just as much as my new OB and that’s all she suggested I take. It’s confusing when doctors have different recommendations but from what I know they are perfectly safe to take during pregnancy!

strawberrykiki, I will say I found sleep with a newborn a lot easier than pregnant sleep. Yes, she woke me up 5x/night but when she slept, I could sleep too. It was a huge change from the lying in bed, uncomfortable, watching the clock for hours insomnia I had during pregnancy.

notagoddess, I have felt the same about sleeping with a newborn vs. during pregnancy. I get worse sleep during pregnancy than I ever have when my kids weren't sleeping through the night. I will caveat that by saying my boys were excellent newborns Lol Calm, didn't cry much at all, observant, happy. DS1 slept through the night by 7 weeks and had one month of regression when he hit 6 months and that was it. DS2 took a little longer to STTN and I think he was around 3 months when he finally did but he's never regressed and he's two in January soooo.... *shrug* I'm sure this LO will be the opposite. I won't hold my breath for a 3rd great time around. strawberrykiki, I bought a preggo pillow with DS2 and loved it....up until I hit about 20 weeks and then it did nothing for me. I actually think it made some of my pain worse instead of better because it was putting my neck at a weird angle which of course made everything else hurt. I found a nest of regular pillows that I could move around more freely was significantly better for me so this time around, I haven't even bothered with the preggo pillow. The dog uses it now.

cch I've been taking 150mg of Zantac every day for the past month or so because my reflux is so awful and triggers nausea and vomiting for me still. Constant acid in your esophagus isn't good and can cause ulcerations so I'd much rather take meds. Category B meds have a well established safety profile.

+1 to sleep struggle. I’ve found doing some hip and back stretches right before bed helps. My pregnancy pillow starts out feeling comfortable, but ends up being annoying by 3 am. My body is craving to sleep on my stomach; that’s not even how I usually sleep!

TashaLa, Being on my stomach is all my body wants lol I've created a pillow nest that lets me do it and I fall asleep way faster now.

k hope your little guy is on the mend today and you're staying healthy. thelittleredm I am SO. JEALOUS. of your babies' sleep patterns. Neither of my boys slept through the night until 2. And it was a massive struggle. Send some of that magic sleep dust to me please.

thelittleredm I agree with hrh. DD didn’t STTN until she was 13mo. Most nights I was up 2-3x nursing her. I’ll take some sleepy dust as well! I’m hoping and praying this LO will sleep better than her big sis!

MH wants to send mailers out to his family with our registry. They offered to throw us a baby shower but they wanted to do it in Boston and we live in FL. I felt guilty but I declined because of the travel expenses and also me feeling like crap a lot of the time. I feel like it’s kinda tacky to send out mailers basically saying hey buy us stuff! But considering I’m not having a baby shower there maybe it would be okay? Also it’s MH’s family so if that’s what he wants to do maybe I should just let him? I don’t want to argue with him about it. What do you ladies think?

strawberrykiki, I can see your concern. Perhaps you guys could suggest that one of his family members who wanted to host could send out registry info to the family since you're unable to travel for a shower? Idk. hrh and cch, I honestly have no idea how it happened. I had a couple friends ask for tips and I had none to give them. They just...did.

strawberrykiki I agree, I would send out a photo pregnancy announcement or something but I wouldn't feel okay including registry info. Maybe a family member there could send out a fun "invite" with something like, Kiki is having a baby! She can't travel to us before baby comes, so let's all send well wishes to her and surprise her with the things they need! Baby due... Registered at....

+1 to sleeping better with a newborn than while pregnant. And also my kids don’t sleep. The good thing about number 2 was my expectations were so low as far as sleep. my kids basically don’t sttn until weaned. strawberrykiki I personally wouldn’t send out my registry info. If anyone asks I’d just email it to them.

strawberrykiki, +1 to not sending registry information out unless someone asks for it. I wasn't invited to a close friend's baby shower because it was in her home state, so I asked for her registry info and got her something from there. People will ask or just give you stuff when you see them! thelittleredm, jealous of the sleep. My kid was never a good sleeper. But I'd still take being woken up by a newborn over insomnia.

@amc, Oh man. Rough day! Definitely stay on it.
I'm so done today. I have zero patience for anyone in my home and I'm tired. I didn't get home until about 20 minutes ago because grocery shopping and the bank and kid pick up took almost 2.5hrs. So done. Like, nowhere I needed to be was anywhere near anywhere else. DS2 is losing his mind and melting down for no apparent reason and we still have a class to go to tonight.
Also, I have seething red anger at H. It's like he's still stuck in his parents' house and doesn't know how to put dishes in the sink or put food away so I don't have to throw it away after he leaves it out all afternoon. Fucking done.

thelittleredm oh I'm so sorry. I hope you get a great restorative night's sleep at least! And sounds like YH needs a taking to at some point. @amc ouch! I tried to skip unisom a few times and it Turned out the same way. The OB said there's nothing wrong with taking it every day through the end of pregnancy so that's my plan! I'm glad it's making such a difference for you at least.

I’m having this really weird symptom. Random one sided hearing loss at night. idk if it’s pregnancy related. My friend is an audiologist so I asked her what the H is going on and if I should be worried. It is making me really anxious, I hope I’m not losing my hearing. If it’s related to me laying down I’m hoping it’s just full of wax or something. 😕 anyone else ever have this? It’s not tinnitus, it’s just temporarily deaf. and maybe some slight pressure.

k, that sounds scary. Do you have any congestion? I know pregnancy can make congestion worse, and increase earwax production too. I'm thinking with the lying down thing, it's one of those two.
