I'm sorry I've been such a slacker! I'm going to try to be better...anyone still interested in a breastfeeding/pumping check-in?

I'm here! Still going once a day. KOKO for now. She bit me the other morning for the first time in awhile but she's getting 3 molars so 🤷🏻♀️.

I am in the process of weening from pumping. Hopefully I'll be done in the next week or so. Interested until then.

I began June 5th and slowly have been cutting back the number of pump sessions and the time of each session. I hit my goal yesterday of getting excited her to 8 months so now I'm really going faster to wean. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm here and interested!
We are KOKO. He's dropped at least one feeding since he is eating more solids. My plan is to start the weaning process when he is 11 months and be totally done by his first birthday. The pedi suggested starting a cup of almond milk a day now to start working on the transition. I would love to nurse until he self weans, but my doctors and health just aren't going to allow that.

So I have been either pregnant or breastfeeding for 4.5 years now (stopped nursing my toddler after I found out I was pregnant on H). H will be 8 months on the 30th and still won't take a bottle, which is super frustrating (C had no issue going back and forth between boob and bottle). I am giving him until 10 months to figure it out, at which point we'll have to force the issue (I'll have to leave long enough for him to have no choice) to prepare for me going back to work. I REALLY don't want to have to do it that way, but we might not have a choice.

Baby girl hasn't gained weight in a weeks time. We've increased her supplement and will check weight again in a week. Ladies I don't know how much longer I can do this. She is 6 weeks and I have spent at least one morning if not two each week for weight checks and finding she is either gaining or missing. At this point she has not consistently gained. Now to top it off she won't latch on my left side unless I have the nipple shield. She will scream without it.

danib have you tried a straw cup or sippy? My LO is 9 months but she's been drinking water out of them for months so he should be able to get the hang of one. Maybe he'd take to that for expressed milk?

Maybe he'd take to that for expressed milk? We've tried everything. My consensus is that he CAN do it (he will take sips when he feels like it), he just doesn't WANT to. We'll force the issue (aka I'll leave for lomg enough to make him give in and take something) when it gets closer to me going back to work.

danib that sounds like my 2nd. Ultimately by that age H will be fine if he goes all day without nursing. I don't think you need to force the issue. You're right that he can drink from other sources. If he needs water when you're at work he will take it.

I'm glad she gained weight. Do you see needing the shield as a failure? Once I accepted that's what s1 needed we both did great. I hope she keeps gaining and you guys are able to reach a point of mutual peace.

I don't see it was a failure, but more as an obstacle that is in the way. Since she can't empty the breast with it as well and the troubles with weight gain we (pediatrician and myself) had hoped to move away from it.

I'm so sorry for all the problems mickey24. Z was a bad latcher, even worse with a nipple shield. Also turned out that my nipples were too large for a nipple shield, and too large for her. We tried triple feeding (nurse, bottle, pump) to make sure she was fed, my breasts were emptied, and my supply kept up, but I just could not commit to spending my maternity leave doing that. We eventually went with exclusive pumping, and that worked well for us.
