mwhip what kind of Jeep do you have now? H wants a Wrangler so badly. I’m against it for many reasons but eventually I will lose and he will get it.

So no Cobalt kitten this week. Apparently his litter got some sort of stomach issues, so they are testing them for various things. No Parvo (thank goodness) and they are starting a dewormer for possible parasites causing it. Luckily, they caught it before we brought him home, so at least my other cats won't get it...hopefully. So they are hoping the kittens get better over the weekend and then they will be able to fix them next week and send them home.

It was a little rough of a ride for me but that may have been H’s driving more than the car.

I just captured the world’s largest bee in my house. It’s buzzing was so loud it couldn’t hide. I put a container over it and then I tried to slip the lid on to take it outside and I accidentally smooshed it. It was gross.

We blew a circuit in the house, but there’s nothing askew on the panel. I don’t know what to do next. I called the electrician because I don’t have a next step in my tool box. ETA: I fixed it! I don’t know how, but I’m feeling so handy right now

I'm going to my cousin's wedding this weekend. I'm not close to this cousin at all. He was the rich spoiled kid to my poor kid self. The most interaction we had was me babying sitting him. I'm fairly certain I was a second tier invite based on when I got the invitation but I'm going anyway because it's been over 5 years since I've done anything with that side of the family, it's at a fancy hotel and I rarely ever dress up, and I'm fine with my meal cost being more than my gift. I'm mostly going to people watch and enjoy the food. I want to see the older relatives be horrified at the no Catholic church wedding. He's several years younger than me and the wedding page and recent informative email let me know they have several hashtags for the wedding (I guess if we take pictures we're supposed to use these? I don't hashtag so I don't know?). Their household saying is "Razzle dazzle." I have no clue what this means. I will be observing the big city youths to see if I can glean more about this.

My oldest once wanted a magic wand so I got some brown stick looking thing that made a noise and lit up. He was so excited when he opened it because he was “going to use it to bring grandma back from being dead.”

She had some leather redone inside and other odds and ends but nothing major, it's been a great car. She's going to replace it this year with a new(er) Grand Cherokee now that BIL is out of residency. Seems like all the Jeep owners I've ever known are very loyal to the Jeep brand.

Good thing I didn't buy B's Halloween costume, b/c he's changed gears and wants to be an archaeologist, a la Sam Neill in Jurassic Park. LOL. Which actually works out nicely since we have quite a few of the pieces, and anything we need to buy he can wear this fall/winter. So thank you, Jurassic Park! inthekitty Yes, I think for the last few years couples have been using the hashtags (usually a play on their last name or something like that)...when guests tag the pic on FB or Instagram (and maybe other SM platforms, not sure), they'll be able to look at all the photos from their wedding in one spot.

Afternoon Ladies! I escaped the construction noise at my house, dropped the kids off at various schools and childcares and then drove around aimlessly talking to my sister on the phone for 2 hours. Quite the productive morning if I do say so myself.
Also, for all my cat ladies...we have been talking about getting another cat. My current cat is female and super chill and friendly. She literally follows my kids around the cul-de-sac letting all the neighbor kids pet her and pick her up (I am kind of hoping she would show a new cat the ropes). I have heard conflicting opinions on whether to get an adult cat or a kitten and another female vs. male. We prefer to rescue and I am kind of leaning against a male since they can spray, but I'm not ruling it out. Thoughts?

We have an older male anxious/standoffish cat who did a pretty good job with another cat and then a dog, but he’s giving the kids a complex because he doesn’t like to be petted or he runs away they get too loud We were thinking about introducing another one and had the same questions.

Most of the time you won't find a sprayer once it's been fixed, although there are also vertical pee-ers, which is super annoying.
Has your cat ever been around other cats? How old is she?
I think a male or female would be fine, you would just need to find one that has the same chill personality.

We prefer to rescue and I am kind of leaning against a male since they can spray, but I'm not ruling it out. Thoughts? Aw. What a sweet kitty. I'm kind of sad we don't have strays out in our area--which is totally selfish because that's obviously a good thing. But I wouldn't mind another kitty but I know my husband would only be okay with a cat that adopted us. I have an older boy kitty and he's the sweetest thing in the world. I wondered how he would do adjusting to the dog and he's taken to her wonderfully. He follows me around every night when I tuck in the girls and read to them so he can say goodnight to them too. He is very patient with them. His brother used to live with us but went to be an outdoor cat with my parents years ago because he would not stop peeing (not just spraying) in the house. I tried everything. We didn't have the yard for an outdoor house and he adjusted well at my parent's but it was a major bummer. Females can sometimes be jealous but yours sounds like she'd adjust well to a new cat since she's so laid back. I would imagine it'd be easier to train a kitten. I think I'd go young and either get a kitten (either male or female) or young adult cat that seems really chill. At your shelter can you bring your current cat with you to see how they respond to each other?

She is about 11 years old and has not ever lived with another cat. She was BFFs with my dog though, and has been really affectionate and boderline clingy since we lost him.

dapostrophe, I think it is great that you want a "broken" one. They need more love and are less likely to get adopted. I think a young adult cat would be a good match, like a 2-3 year old. I would think taking it for a meet and greet at the shelter would be a bit stressful though, too many other smells there.

I totally agree with the loyalty comment. I had my Liberty for 9 years, it was hard to get rid of because I knew what a great vehicle it was. My Cherokee has been great as well, but its a lease, so I wanted to check options. Definitely not doing anything quick since I have plenty of time, plus, even a new lease on the Cherokee is almost $100 more than my current monthly payment...I almost laughed at him when he showed me the Grand Cherokee payment. We may look at used next.

There is very little chance it would go well.
Cats are finicky animals and it can take a lot of time to warm up to each other. Max did better with kittens that I fostered vs adult cats and did better with females vs males. I'm not sure why. He lived with all ages and sexes previous to us. I think you are fine either way, I would just look for personality.

The backseat is not big so car seats suck in it. The passenger in the front seat has to be scooted way forward. But I’ve had it 7 years and it’s been a good reliable vehicle.

As you can see I have not gotten a new pet in over 10 years, so I'm not sure how they are doing things these days. It's probably not a thing at most shelters. In my parent's town someone gave $$$ to the animal shelter when they died and now they have the nicest shelter I've ever seen. There are several rooms available where you can take cats to hang out and see how they interact with you, your family, or your other pets. You can ask if that'd be a possibility if you find a cat you think might be a match. My old kitty boy got used to a dog (and he used to hate dogs) when he was 11 yo. He loves our dog now and it filled the void of his brother not being in the house anymore. With the description of your cat's personality I think you have a good likelihood of a positive adjustment. And I think it's adorable you like the "broken" kitties. People are more likely to move past the ones with imperfections and they might be great pets. Black pets are more likely to be left behind too.

It's the souped up addition so it's a bit of a smoother ride, but with B still riding backwards, I am literally in the dashboard with the seat behind me. He is looking for a new car that will be easier with both kids now. Actually I am looking at a new car and I think he is going to take my car for around town and keep using his jeep for work.

Speaking of cats, S has been asking for a pet for his birthday. Well he wants a dog, but I am not in a place to handle a dog. I am not a cat person (sorry, I know cats are popular on this board) and I don't want anything stinky or too hard to care for as I have enough to do caring for the 2 small people I am responsible for.
What pets do you think would be good? I thought turtle, but my friend told me they carry salmonella. Hermit crab? Any other ideas?
