Worst mother in the world, reporting for duty.
I just picked up B from school and his teacher gave me an earful about how he is sick. Well, lady, he's had the same cold for well over a week now, you're just now noticing? And he obviously caught it here from some other child whose terrible, horrible parent sent them with a cold. He's not running a fever, he ate breakfast, he wanted to go to school.
I said something to the effect of, "Well, he does pick up colds easily; he's actually having his tonsils out later this fall and we're hoping that will help." And she goes, 'Well, they won't do it like this" (meaning with him being 'sick'.) Um, it's not this afternoon.
So now I'm of course questioning my own judgment and I feel like I HAVE to keep him home tomorrow or else risk the wrath of Mrs. D.

Screw her. That is uncalled for. If we kept them home for every sniffle they would be home half the year. Also I'm bitchy today so this may be an over reaction 🤷♀️ Worst mother in the world, reporting for duty. I just picked up B from school and his teacher gave me an earful about how he is sick. Also, this is probably a UO, but I HATE being called "Mom" by other adults. Just happened with the teacher, and this morning when I was making the kids' dentist appointments. No. It's Mrs. Last Name. And in the case of doctors' offices and whatnot, you have my name right in front of you, so you *really* have no excuse.

That makes sense! I was sitting here like...um, tampons? I'm glad your family didn't banish you to your room because it's that time! :-) Although you should have traded every other day or something to make it fair for everyone...not your period, sitting in the room for naptime. Unrelated/related: the old wives tale on my mom’s side of the family was that if you had AF, you could not go anywhere near the tomato canning process in late summer. You’d get a bad batch bc of it. No one specifically asked you to sit out because it was still private information, but it was well known ahead of time that you should be respectful of the superstition. I dont even know what to say to that.

The kids have a runny nose from mid September till mid April, they’re not sick that entire period.

Get my attention and say whatever you want to say. I'm not your mom.

tgrimes I'm glad it's over. I hope M doesn't hurt today. flamingo not worst or even a bad mom. Maybe that teacher needs to stay away from the tomato canning today. chrisy01 fx the move ends up being a blessing even if it isn't your 1st choice lfig she looks like she's having a great time and at least she is paying by herself.

I also hate when people say "mom" vs "my mom" in conversation. Like, "Mom said she wanted pizza". Exception is if we have the same mom, of course.

I had a horrible migraine yesterday and I'm staying home today because of it. I feel sore all over, probably from laying in bed to much. I can't decide if I will go swim now or not. But I'm going out with a friend tonight.

There are articles and pronouns for reason! I also feel it when people talk about prom versus the prom. (this latter piece of information was far more relevant in my life as a high school teacher. No one talks about the prom in my life right now)

I get that they have patients all day long and you've got kids with one last name and parents with another but still. I just hate that society has become so informal. The last time I flew, I was on Delta, and as I boarded and the gate agent scanned my ticket, she said, "Welcome aboard, Mrs. Last Name." It felt so professional and civilized. I'm a Delta fan in general but I wrote them a note to compliment that employee.

I know it’s regional, but I also prefer that teachers (even on the preschool level) are called Mrs. or Mr. last name.

She was really rude and would call me and my coworkers by our job title rather than calling us by name. Fast forward to our hospital admission this past spring and she was one of A's nurses. She didn't remember me, but she ended up being the one nurse who called me, MH and all my kids by name! I kept telling her what a difference that made.

I know it’s regional, but I also prefer that teachers (even on the preschool level) are called Mrs. or Mr. last name. I do, too. Our school in FL was Miss First Name, schools here have been last names. Except for C's class, but I think that's partially b/c of the age...easier for toddlers to say "Miss Jen" than "Mrs. Eckerd". All the other classrooms have "Mrs. Smith's 3-day Threes" or whatever above the door.

Poor M tgrimes. I’m glad it’s over with now for you both. flamingo technically our handbook says some bs about keeping kids home for basically everything but there’s negative percent chance that will happen. I would have rolled my eyes at the teacher and kept it moving. The girls had school this morning and it was picture day. Both reported that they smiled pretty. DH has the day off from work, this morning he got a physical and then he has a dentist appt in the afternoon. I have work tonight.

mwhip, Lol! We haven’t done tomatoes in so many years. I really liked it. Mostly the time with family, but it was the best tomato sauce ever. I actually just told mh that it might be something I want to do in the future to get back the cousins together again with an old tradition. We have a good yard for it. I would not maintain the superstition.

The mom thing happened to me at the docs today and Evelyn looked at the nurse and said "Mama is YOUR mom, too?". I can't say that I've ever noticed or been bothered by it, but I can see how it would be confusing 😂

In other news, I asked the doc when she would recommend bringing baby Bea to the gym (since we are in cold and flu season) and she said April 😳 I know it's kind of a #newmom question, but I am used to having babies that are 6 months old in the summer, not fall/winter. She said RSV can cause long term breathing complications, so not to risk it. Womp womp.

I know it’s regional, but I also prefer that teachers (even on the preschool level) are called Mrs. or Mr. last name. Our previous one was miss first name, and our current one is just first name, even the director! I am so used to it now though, but realized when my realtor had her girls and was trying to figure out what to call me - I'm like my first name!! She is super prim and proper though. And then felt silly that it never crossed my mind to have my kids call her mrs..whoops

OMG I can hear her screaming. This is...not delightful. Fuck man. When I was in middle school, I went with my younger cousin to get her teeth pulled. They let me go back to play at the toy table while she waited and I could hear her screams in the room. I don’t ever want to do that again. Especially with my own kids. If any of them need teeth pulled, I will probably send MH. It’s probably why I chose to be put under anesthesia to have my wisdom teeth pulled.

If he had no fever and was acting normal other than a sniff or cough, of course we would send them. Shame on her for making you feel like a bad mom.
