What grade is your DS1 in quinn? I hate that kids are experimenting with these things so early now! I just want to keep my girls sheltered forever (atrb_partsz) 9th

cakewench yes it’s best to give probiotics at least 2 hrs apart from antibiotics, which can be hard if the antibx are dosed multiple times a day. Try to just give it at home if you can, otherwise I would just mix it in his bottle and send it without telling them 🤷♀️that’s dumb that they want a doctors note. Our DC would give otc stuff as long as the parent filled out a form.

snuff9861 , I think I read something that babies under 1 can't break the milk down which is why they recommend not offering it until they are at least 1. I would just try again when she gets to be a year old and go from there. This. If anything, maybe it’s a lactose issue vs milk protein since she’s on lactose free formula. When ds2 turns 1 he will go on soy milk for his dairy allergy. The nut milks do not provide enough protein and goats milk is too similar molecularly to cows milk to be tolerated by most kids with a milk protein allergy- no clue about the lactose content though. Yea I figured it's most likely a lactose issue. I thought initially months ago it may have been a milk protein issue but once we got her on the lactose free formula she did much better. Then we started giving her other dairy she did ok. A few spit ups but nothing major.

Our DC would give otc stuff as long as the parent filled out a form. Two hours might work, he usually gets his first bottle at 5am and I give him the first augmentin dose at 7am, before we leave. We are trying to let him go through the night without waking to feed but to get through this, I'm not above it. Like, if he wakes I'll give it to him at 1am. If he doesn't, at 5. It's OTC so I don't understand what the issue is, but I'm not going to fight. It's looking extremely likely I'll be home tomorrow so at least I'll be nearby if the poop gets overwhelming. I did see anecdotal stories that the first 2-3 days on Augmentin are the worst and then it eases up, so hoping that will be the case here too. And thanks!

I was wondering this, but I was also told by my pediatrician that true lactose intolerance doesn't show up until children are in grade school and that it's unlikely to be a lactose issue in babies. We asked about it back when we were trying to determine what was going on with E's colic. She said it is extremely rare for babies to be lactose intolerant.

Waiting for ds2 to get up from his nap and then we are off to Target! They have the buy $100 of baby stuff get $20 gift card going on until 10/6. I'm going to pick up Halloween candy too since the kind we can have in the house is 25% on cartwheel. I also need to get ds2 some pants ... I only have like three pairs lol. Second baby problems.

Sorry I'm not around much, we're away on holiday and I'm trying not to be on my phone too much as we can do with the quality time!
BabyWaffle is loving the pool and the jacuzzi, she's started to stand up and propel herself in the floaty in the baby pool, it's wonderful how she enjoys the water.

Hi, all. Today is a weird day at work, I'm working 830-5 due to a staffing issue. Usually I work 5-130 or 730-4, so this seems late. i felt like I had so much time this morning, especially since H took the kids to day care.
But work actually isn't bad, should be a good day. Plus I just got approved to take a full sick day for DD2's year appointment next month, which I am happy about.

Morning, I've got a day full of webinars today and tomorrow. My MIL is supposed to be taking H to her old job today. She's only put him in the car seat once and it was months ago. I would be more worried but he cries when you put him in the seat most days so the chances of her throwing in the towel are good. It just annoys me that my parents practiced every chance they got and she thought seeing me do it once was sufficient. Those with kiddos that take bottles how many and what size bottles are they taking each day. H is still drinking 4 6oz bottles most days (the pedi was really surprised with this amount at his 9 month appt) and I'm wondering how I start to wean this down as we get closer to 1 year. DD2 still drinks 4 oz bottles, we never went up from when she was on breast milk. I would say she usually has 4-5 bottles/day? And some solids.

cakewench do they need a pedi note to give things like Tylenol? It should be the same process for any OTC. But anyways, I would just do it at the 5am bottle. And yes, in my experience with augmentin poops the first days are the worst and then it gets better. For his butt I like triple paste with a&d ointment over it to provide a barrier.

Today is cold and rainy. I’m making beef stew for supper along with fresh buns and apple crisp for dessert. This is my favourite meal from my Grandma. I still think of her when I make it. 😊

Flu shots are done. DH didn’t pass out (he’s a fainter), C didn’t cry at all- barely flinched, and ds1 sobbed for 20 minutes.

N has been sleeping since 1:30 when I put him in his crib, said good night and left. He cried for 15 minutes. He whimpered around 3, but I was taking DD out of the bath, and by the time I got back he was quiet. It’s 4:00 now. Maybe CIO is our answer. Maybe I will get some sleep this decade.

Thanks all - I will give him the probiotic during his 5am bottle and we should be fine. Unfortunately, I just got diagnosed with strep. Rains pours blah blah blah. The doctor seemed to think I should be fine to continue pumping but I will talk to N's pedi tomorrow when they open to be safe. Not exactly how I wanted a day off work, but I guess I'll take it grumpycat - I am resisting going to Target or Michaels because I want to go all out for Halloween this year but really shouldn't be spending the money. I'm telling myself when N is older and can appreciate it more, it will be better. Still going to give out full size bars, though. (We don't get a lot of kids.) Glad the flu shots seemed to go relatively well, pootsen. N has his second half at the end of the month.' cdnfarmgirl - FX this works and you get some sleep!

Sorry to hear you have strep cakewench! You seem to be in good spirits at least 😁 grumpycat, DH had to buy DD some paw patrol PJs at Target while we were away because she went nuts for them. She's seen the show twice I think and now she recognizes the dogs everywhere 😬🙄

cakewench - I’ve nursed while being diagnosed with strep before. I was given amoxicillin. It had no effect on baby. My doctor said it was fine because little to no amounts go into your milk and babies get the same antibiotics when they’re sick. .

laurensc927, E gets 4 bottles a day. The first she usually takes 5-6oz. The two in the middle are 4oz. The one before bed, she’ll usually drink 7-8oz. She also eats 3 meals a day of solids.

My doctor said it was fine because little to no amounts go into your milk and babies get the same antibiotics when they’re sick. . Yup! I had to go on it before for an ear infection and N was fine - I’m only concerned because he’s already on augmentin (which is made up of amoxicillin), but if not a lot gets into the milk I don’t think there should be a problem. Thanks!
