Morning, I've got a day full of webinars today and tomorrow. My MIL is supposed to be taking H to her old job today. She's only put him in the car seat once and it was months ago. I would be more worried but he cries when you put him in the seat most days so the chances of her throwing in the towel are good. It just annoys me that my parents practiced every chance they got and she thought seeing me do it once was sufficient.
Those with kiddos that take bottles how many and what size bottles are they taking each day. H is still drinking 4 6oz bottles most days (the pedi was really surprised with this amount at his 9 month appt) and I'm wondering how I start to wean this down as we get closer to 1 year.

I offer a 6oz bottle at meals and he eats maybe 2-4oz at the most. He takes a full 8oz in the morning still though. He's weaning himself really. I would let H do the same. If he still wants em I'd let him have them. I hope H does well for your MIL. Last time I let my mom drive with the kids she forgot to buckle ds3 🤦♀️ I dont let her drive with them anymore

Morning!
Today is “spirit day” at my work for the Milwaukee Brewers making the playoffs. So I get to rock my brewers shirt and they have “tailgate” food in the cafeteria today- I’m really looking forward to lunch!
Yesterday I somehow tweaked my knee during my soccer game. I didn’t actually do anything to injure it but it feels unstable and I can’t fully straighten it. I wanted to go get a brace before work this morning but I didn’t have time. Luckily my limp is not super noticeable! I’m feeling incredibly old getting an injury from just regular play.

Busy day running errands here. Had a drug talk with the older boys last night. Ds1 has seen kids take pills, vape, smoke cigarettes, so we talked with them about what to say if offered and to never take any pills (even if they're told its tylenol) or any candy. I'm happy they're still coming to me and feel comfortable talking about these things though

laurensc927, E takes 5 6-oz bottles a day and has one big "meal" of yogurt, a fruit, and a veggie. This morning we are starting to offer him breakfast. E usually has his first bottle between 3-4:00 am. The formula should be H's main source of food so you should always be offering it before any solids. As we get closer to E's first birthday we will start to increase his meals more and increase his finger foods so that he will be ready to switch to whole milk and still eat enough to be full. Even when I was nursing N I still breastfed him before offering solids right up to his first birthday.

How scary that DS1 is so exposed to this stuff already.

Good morning! Ds1 is at school and c is down for a nap. I need to clean and catch up on laundry today. DH is coming home early from work this afternoon and we’re taking both boys for their flu shots.

Morning. Got DS1 off to school, DH took DD to preschool at her request that “mom you don’t have to do everything. Daddy can take me too you know”. Girl. You don’t have to tell me twice. So now I’m nursing N and then going to do some cleaning. Then go grocery shopping before I need to go pick Nora up.
It’s cold and rainy today. I’m searching the buy and sells for fall jackets for the boys.

In the last week she's also been getting 8 oz around midnight because she's starving.

I've cleaned the bathroom and kitchen already while DD2 naps. Those were the big things on my agenda today. I may run out and do some shopping if I feel like it.

Ugh, I have to clean the bathroom today, and do laundry. Hopefully DD will nap and not be an insane baby who doesn't want to nap. She did sleep 7-7 last night with one quick wake up, but only napped for maybe an hour total yesterday. I think it's just because she has a cough again. laurensc927, I was working on weaning DD off the boob, but then she got sick and then we went on vacation where she wasn't napping much and so she started wanting it more and I let her, so now I'm going to try and get back to 4 times per day. Morning, after each nap and before bed. Then if she wakes up in the night I'm going to try and offer water first. Anyway, I totally don't think you're doing anything wrong, I think it's pretty normal to still give them as much milk as they want until 1 year old!

So question: I have a sneaking suspicion DD2 has an issue with drinking milk. She stole DD1's sippy the other day, took a few swigs and then proceeded to puke for a couple of hours. Nothing before or since. She can eat cheese and yogurt etc. I will of course mention all this at her one year appt, but what do I give her to drink when we switch her off formula. She'd have to eat A LOT of yogurt to make up for not drinking milk. Goats? I prefer to stay away from rice, almond, nut milks etc because of all the things added into them to actually make them nutritious. I could try toddler formula but I'm hesitant because of the milk-base.

laurensc927 On weekdays my girls get 4 - 4oz bottles of BM while I'm at work and then breastfeed twice when I get home. Often I'll still do a dream feed for Paris to try and get some extra calories in her.

snuff9861, I think I read something that babies under 1 can't break the milk down which is why they recommend not offering it until they are at least 1. I would just try again when she gets to be a year old and go from there.

snuff9861, I found this: "If your child drank cow's-milk-based formula as a baby without any problems, you can rest assured that he'll have no problem tolerating regular cow's milk. Even babies who were exclusively breastfed for the first year can usually handle regular cow's milk because they've been exposed to cow's milk protein in breast milk (unless you avoided all dairy). If your child drank soy formula because your doctor recommended it, check with your doctor before introducing cow's milk. Your doctor may recommend that you start with a soy beverage that's been fortified with vitamin D and calcium. (See what our experts say about giving soy milk or rice milk to a child who won't drink cow's milk.)" www.babycenter.com/0_cows-milk-when-and-how-to-introduce-it_1334703.bc

Ds1 weaned himself off the bottle by a year. He fought us hard from like 9 months on so we increased his food intake. He was getting three meals a day by 10 months. We dropped bottles/formula the day after his 1 year appointment and had no issues switching to whole cow's milk in a sippy.

I would just try again when she gets to be a year old and go from there. This. If anything, maybe it’s a lactose issue vs milk protein since she’s on lactose free formula. When ds2 turns 1 he will go on soy milk for his dairy allergy. The nut milks do not provide enough protein and goats milk is too similar molecularly to cows milk to be tolerated by most kids with a milk protein allergy- no clue about the lactose content though.

Morning Ladies! Looks like another cold has hit our household, not teething like I thought. My H and DD1 also have it now. I can tell already that preschool germs are making an impact on us!
Today there's a heart walk at work that I think I'm going to participate in. Other than that I need to be productive at work today and get this pile of paperwork off of my desk! I have a facial appointment at 4 so I have to leave a smidge early today, I'm looking forward to it!

I think I'm catching what N has. He's doing much better, though, except for the pooping. I'm battling with DC right now because they want a signed note from the doctor in order to give him a probiotic during the day. I heard that the best time to take a probiotic when on antibiotics was between antibiotic doses, but if any of you have other advice I'm all ears, because right now it would legit be easier to feed him at 1am and give him the probiotic than go back and forth between the pedi and DC. FTR it's Culturelle for Kids, so it's a little tasteless packet that gets mixed into other food. DC of course also says that if he poops more than twice in an hour I have to go get him, because of potential dehydration. So far he's done 2 per hour from 8-9 and 10-11, so knock on wood he keeps it to a minimum. FX he doesn't get nasty diaper rash either. I know this first time on antibiotics is supposedly the worst but JFC it's been less than two weeks since his surgery and I am going to drop dead if I don't get some rest soon. Not having family around to help sucks. On a less whiny note, little dude positively FLIES while crawling now. We need to start adjusting his bottles and get him eating real people food and not just purees, but I need to get over this hump first. He's still the chunkiest of chunks so I am not worried. jules1614 - Congrats on the Brewers! My H and I tour baseball stadiums for vacations, and we had an AMAZING time in Milwaukee a few years ago. Loved the stadium (and the cheese fries. And the Milwaukee Brat House.). I'm sure it had nothing to do with getting kinda sloshed while touring Lakefront Brewery before the game I'll keep my FX for them, unless they run into my Sox.
