Random question for STM+: How do you get your kid in and out of the crib with a bump in the way? I feel like I can't reach in there without squishing the baby, and I know I'm going to be getting a lot bigger soon...

Random question for STM+: How do you get your kid in and out of the crib with a bump in the way? I feel like I can't reach in there without squishing the baby, and I know I'm going to be getting a lot bigger soon... I just solved this by transitioning my DS2 (19 months) to a toddler bed this past weekend. Dude was on the verge of climbing out anyhow, and the timing was good in terms of no other big life changes happening over the next couple of months. He's transitioned pretty smoothly so far and it is sooo much easier not having to lift him in and out, so I'm glad we went ahead and made the switch! With DS1, I attempted to keep him in the crib until after DS2 was born... but he climbed out at 19.5 months, when I was 34 weeks pregnant. 😳 Before our forced transition to the toddler bed, I was only able to get him in and out of the crib when he was standing, and had to turn sideways a bit so my bump wasn't in the way quite as much. I'm so nervous about that transition! My 19-month old is not a great sleeper, and she's been up a lot the past few weeks due to teething. She will be moving out of her crib to a twin bed in a different room. I was hoping not to do that until well into my maternity leave.

I've thought about this, too. DS1 was already in a toddler bed before I got pregnant with DS2. I think we're just going to transition DS2 to a toddler bed soon.

I feel like I can't reach in there without squishing the baby, and I know I'm going to be getting a lot bigger soon... I kind of stand her in it and she lays herself down. I’m way past being able to lean in and lay her down lol. Whenever I come in she is standing up so I can just lift her from her armpits. When she turns 2 next month we are going to transition her into a toddler bed in my DS’s room. She’s still doing well in the crib and ideally I’d love to keep her in it, but once they’re sharing a room I don’t think it will be safe anymore since I know DS will want to climb in with her all the time.

I ate an absolutely massive dinner tonight you guys. I was so hungry, didn’t eat a lot all day, and then had yoga from 7-8:15 and was thinking about food the whole time. So after it ended I called the local Greek pizza/sub shop and got angel hair bolognese and a side of broccoli. The pasta came in one of those large, round black plastic takeout containers with the clear top. And I ate the. entire. thing. It was soooooo good. I don’t even feel that full and I’m just laying here now while my carbo-loaded baby dances around my belly 😊 (I have no idea if this gif is going to work) Eta: nvm. Imgur fucking sucks.

I’m eating Chipotle. Again. I killed half of the bowl in about five minutes now I’m debating the other half. Like I probably shouldn’t but it’s soooo good

DD really needed a trim so we got her a “little baby” haircut today. She did well and I am so jealous of her hair 😍

Chipotle sounds so good. There isn't one anywhere near me though Not much sounds good still these days and even what does, I can only handle in small amounts.

I feel like I can't reach in there without squishing the baby, and I know I'm going to be getting a lot bigger soon... I usually just put the crib rail between bump and boobs...its been working so far! My son was in his crib well after my daughter was born (he was 22 months at the time, didn't switch to a toddler bed until he was closer to maybe 2.5?), and it got pretty uncomfortable to get him in and out by the end but it was doable. Also, I have giant children so that doesn't help matters.
I'm with k, though, team crib for life! If I can keep my daughter from climbing out, she'll be in her crib for a long time. She's my much more....adventurous child. I would probably find her on top of the refrigerator at 3 am if she could get loose in the house!

Hi guys! I haven't been around much, but I've been trying to keep up. I'm sitting on the couch watching bad tv while I wait for DH to get home. He had to work late, and then was going to run by my mom's house on his way home because she's having some weird electrical problem. I'm sure he's glad to be on mother-in-law duty after a long day at work...but he won't complain. I should be getting ready for bed but I can't drag myself up off the couch.

My appt was meh. I’m measuring 2 weeks ahead, not surprised at all as I feel huge. The dr wants me to start taking baby aspirin which surprised me. Neither of my OBs recommended that for my first two pregnancies so I’m not sure it’s necessary, but I guess it’s safe and won’t hurt? The dr also wants me to stop running 🙄. So I’m giant...but I have to stop running. Cool. I didn’t run much if at all past 20 weeks with my first two, but running is easy and cheap exercise. I’m looking into joining a pool now. I miss my old OB, who is on sabbatical. I really hope he’s back before I deliver.

I tried to wear yoga pants but baby boy just starts kicking at my waste band like crazy. Lol he doesn't want me to be happy or comfortable 😂 Now I have to keep my waste bands below my bump. It's really funny though that he already has a personality

Anatomy scan today went well! Baby's head/body is 30th-40th percentile, while leg/arm length are 80th and 90th percentile...lol, both our families have mostly tall people. We return in two weeks because baby's arm was blocking a small area of the heart and while the dr thought it was good enough, the ultrasound tech insisted she wanted another look. Got to consult with the MFM, and she agrees with my GI doctor that a scheduled C-section is the best way to go, so I feel good about that decision and don't care if my OB wants to act like it's a bad choice. It's definitely the right choice for us.
We also practiced installing our convertible car seat in each car and that went well. DH really loved the experience, felt like a real dad I think, and decided to announce on FB and finally tell his friends from his hometown (he moved to marry me). I hadn't realized he was kind of holding out emotionally until the anatomy scan, and it's wonderful that he's so happy and relaxed about things now!

sunshiney, Yay on a great anatomy scan! k, Dude. That recipe looks delicious. May need to make it.... I'm really hoping I can get fully emotionally involved in the pregnancy after our scan Monday. I thought I'd be farther along with being into than I am and it's a little upsetting. Like, it blows my mind that there's another baby in our family and I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the idea of three littles around the house. I feel like a FTM, again. On a more positive note, H has only felt small minor movements from baby and they haven't been consistent because this baby is way more chill than my first two at this stage. But last night, I got a couple good thumps you could feel from the outside so I'm hoping we manage to catch it in time for H to feel next time. Also, add me to the carrying low group. I've had a lot of weird low pelvic pains and for some reason yesterday, every time I stood up it hurt and felt like vaginal cramping when you're trying to pass a clot during your period or the day after a really intense sex session? Idk. It didn't feel like anything I needed to call about, although my mother seems to disagree. It was just so bizarre.

Pregnancy dream last night - the last twenty weeks of pregnancy became twenty hours and I was just hours away from a c section, but also worried my cervix might be effacing and dilating and baby would come out before the doctor came. In my dream I was trying to gauge if I felt increased pelvic pressure and if I should insist on a Cervical check. It felt very very real!

sunshiney So crazy! I had a pregnancy dream a couple of nights ago too. Actually two of them. In the first we were at the hospital and the doctor didn’t make it in time to deliver so I delivered the baby myself with MH and DD in the room 😳 In the second dream the baby was a boy instead of a girl and was born with all his teeth. So weird!! I had a similar dream about baby being born with all her teeth when I was pregnant with DD and my mom said she had one too. Pregnancy is weird man.

Had my anatomy scan today and all looks good with baby GIRL!. Measuring a little small in the 22% but I have small babies so they aren't worried. She is super low and tucked in my pelvis which explains why I have so much pelvic pressure and discomfort.
