pepperpottsj, bummer on the summer cold. I hope it's gone quickly. Taitai, fingers crossed you'll get modified bed rest!

No one is opposed to vaccines, thank goodness, however MH is anti actually going to the dr, 'just keep coughing people away'. No shit asshole ... he's getting it just gave me a hard time for fun My OB hasn't even brought up the tdap fax yet. I'm wondering if it's a thing at my office. Mine hadn't either so I brought it up myself during our appointment this past Monday. Though we had so much to discuss that in the end I'm still not quite sure whether I'm getting it yes/no. There's no consensus yet about whether all pregnant women should get one, or just those who work with small children (or something, which is now the standard practice) - but I do know as per next year they're making it to where all pregnant women get it.. so I'm confused why I wouldn't be able to get one now if I wanted to. Guess I'll ask again at my next appointment (34 weeks). Q for everybody who may know: is there a particular week you should get it before?

I've been so exhausted the last couple days, maybe the baby is having a growth spurt? I'm getting a prenatal massage on Monday and I'm really excited about it. I'm really excited to lay down in a different position then my left or right side for a while. Lol
And yes, I do lay on my back, but it hasn't been very comfortable lately.

muscari, my OB said to get it done at the hospital after labor. So I'll just do that. I think you're supposed to get it done before 36 weeks, if you get it while pregnant because it takes up to 2 weeks for the antibodies to work.

Taitai, fx you will be allowed modified bedrest once you hit V-day! After having been on basically some sort of bedrest pretty much for just 3.5 weeks due to my ankle I really feel for you. I'd go absolutely nuts if it had lasted much longer (I've been able to start practice walking for the past several days and it's bliss!). pepperpottsj, summer colds should be forbidden - especially for pregnant women! Feel better soon!

muscari , my OB said to get it done at the hospital after labor. So I'll just do that. I think you're supposed to get it done before 36 weeks, if you get it while pregnant because it takes up to 2 weeks for the antibodies to work. I googled for some info and this one D.utch source says the best time is between 28-32 weeks as in this period the placenta gives the most antibodies on to the baby or something but it can be done up to 38wks. Or afterwards like you say. I guess if getting the shot during pg isn't possible I'll go for the one afterwards instead? I think MH is okay with getting it too, and am wondering whether I should ask my parents to get one too?? On the topic of vaccination.. my sister hasn't followed the vaccination program with both her kids as it doesn't match with her views as anthroposophical medical docter (she also practices 'regular' medicine as a GP, and tbh I'm confused why she's anti-vax.. tis a topic we haven't really discussed as MH&I have quite different views and I haven't wanted the confrontation LOL). Now that we're expecting our own lil one, I'm wanting to discuss this with her after all, cause there's no way I want my kiddo to get sick before properly having been vaccinned herself by way of her niece and nephew.. So I plan on limiting visits as soon as there's an outbreak of something at their school or even if my sister just suspects they got something. Just not sure how to start that discussion! And I wonder/worry whether she'll be on point with it. A few weeks ago we spent the weekend together with all family, and a couple of days later my cousin showed signs of chicken pox and she didn't even think of informing me. I had to learn through my mum by coincidence.. freaked out a little cause well hey hello pregnant here so you could at least have let me know? /end rant

Well I'm going to get an ultrasound done next week to see how this baby is positioned. The OB couldn't tell by feeling my stomach. I'm excited to see the little one, I hope he's head down, ass up! 😆 Yay! I'm always amazed when the docs can feel around my stomach and tell exactly how the baby is positioned. Like, I can tell when I have a foot jammed in my rib but that's about it :-D Yay for getting an extra scan @easilyunamused! I'm getting an extra one at 34 weeks as well to check my placenta placement again - I love getting another peek at the bub! And yeah jexxa me too! was just talking about this with MH earlier today - babygirl has been quite active yesterday and today and I suddenly felt a huge bump in a place I hadn't before which made us both wonder whether she moved either her bum or her head into a new place. I wish I could take a peek inside sometimes.. or was experienced enough to feel what the doc feels! She just did some pushing and prodding and could tell where her head, her back and her feetsies were!

muscari, I think it's totally acceptable to ask her about her vax status, especially since your newborn will not be protected right away.

Yeah I know it is I guess I just don't really know how to start the topic. But will put on my big girl panties and just straight ahead ask her some time. We are planning a sisters-together night away soon, without kids, SOs, parental units or family to interupt our time together heh, so that may be a good moment.

Maybe you could bring up the issue by saying that your OB raised the topic with your at your latest appointment and stressed that you need to start checking with family members on their vaccination status? I know my OB brought this up later in my last pregnancy, and he even gave me a brochure about TDAP. That way you can kind of blame the conversation on the OB, and use that as an excuse for why you need to know where she stands? Just a thought. Either way - you are totally within your rights to ask her, as it's for the health of your new little baby.

muscari CDC does recommend all pregnant women get TDAP during the third trimester, before 36 weeks. CDC also recommends that all adults get TDAP booster once during adulthood so it would be good for your H and parents to get it, unless they know that they have gotten it already. www.cdc.gov/pertussis/pregnant/hcp/pregnant-patients.html

Can I just drop an intro in here? Hi. I usually play at my BMB, in tv/books, and occasionally on parenting aka general discussions. I'm due in early November with #2. DS (now 2.5 years old) was born at 37w5d after several bouts of preterm labor and a really rough 2nd half of pregnancy (modified bedrest, renal colic due to baby's position, a couple overnight hospitalizations).
I'm 21 weeks and team green. Baby is measuring about a week ahead. Anyway, hope it's cool if I play here too!

Taitai thanks! So far my placenta is anterior and while it's muting some of the movement I may be feeling, I'm not all that sad. DS was very busy in utero and my body just did not respond well.

Hey grumpycat! It's a little quite around here since the exodus from TCF, but hopefully we'll be able to pick it back up.

I consider myself a decent cook, but man. I'm not the best at pancakes for some reason. I usually ask MH to make them for me, but he had to work late last night and won't be getting up till mid morning.
I mean, they are edible at least.

I almost made me some pancakes as my second dinner this evening but in the end opted for porridge lol. I found that with pancakes, practice really does help to make perfect. I always thought I sucked at making them too but over time (and after throwing out a lot of crappy ones, especially the first one or two used to be crap lol but it seems to be a matter of letting the frying pan heat up properly before pouring the first dough in) they've become quite yummie

Add me to the list of people who need DH to make their pancakes for them. DH is really good at making them (crepes too!). I've just given up...I can never get them light and fluffy like he does. I also really suck at cooking, so there's that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I should check and see what the TDAP policy is here in Southeast Asia...my MFM hasn't mentioned anything, but I feel like they normally follow CDC or American Academy of Obstetrics and Gynecology guidelines. piratecat Thanks for the link!

Yup I am indeed. Seems they like to set their own standards here and oh rinse and repeat all kinds of researche before doing so. Drove me absolutely bonkers while we were struggling with IF as on some things they are just behind here!! It is frustrating when you know some things are possible in say Belgium or Germany but not in The Netherlands for stupis reasons. But I digress..
