flamingo, yes, she had stopped for awhile in her previous class and was adamant that she was done napping forever, but for whatever reason in this new class she has started napping again.

I got to the grocery store and realized I forgot my list. C melted down in the parking lot b/c I wouldn't let her take her shoes off. After a couple minutes of coaxing, bribing, reasoning, arguing, I said to hell with it, loaded her back up and we went out for breakfast. We'll try again before we pick B up.
Meanwhile, B was very clingy at drop-off, needed 4 or 5 hugs, wouldn't meet his teacher's eye or say hello, etc. He's been this way a bit this fall but today was by far the worst. I haven't said anything here for fear of being thought a bitch, but his teacher this year is somewhat physically intimidating, and not super warm or smiley. I've noticed his reticence is worse on the mornings that she is standing and waiting at the door. Four year old Flamingo would have been terrified, TBH. She seems to like him ok, I guess, and he seems to like school, but IDK. I'm going to try and ask some open-ended questions this afternoon to make sure it's not something else.

Ok. So we have a diagnosis. She has Dystonia. It can come on suddenly. It can be painful, which would explain her crankiness the last week. But basically it is involuntary contractions of the muscles that can cause repetitive and twisting movements. Which explains a lot from the last week. Every time I pick her up she twists her body. I thought she was just being difficult. But apparently not. Here is a pick of how she’s holding her hand... The temporary walking issues she had at school yesterday are also related.

ETA: it’s also common in kiddos with CP. which is something that has been tossed around before.

lfig, glad they gave you an answer that explains a lot of the crankiness and behavior. Did they give you a way to manage the pain when it comes on? And I am glad you won't be as worried about her on your trip since she has had otherwise clean scans and no surgery.

I’m doing ok. Happy to have an explanation/answer. But sad that we have yet another thing to add to the laundry list of difficulties she’s going to face in her lifetime. I’m hopeful that the medication will help her and alleviate some pain.

guster, no. I got a very fake vibe from her. She acted like she cared, but you could tell she had no idea who your kid was unless they were standing right next to you. Also, her 2 week notice email said she had been there for 6 years and I was like, uh, no, you are the 3rd director we have had in Cadence's lifetime and she's only 4.5. The assistant that is also leaving was not right for the job at all. She was young, came inappropriately dressed for anything child related and was the one who lied directly to my face about the whole pull down your pants incident that occurred with Cadence and some boys. So no, I wasn't a fan of either and I hope they are able to get some better people in the positions. chrisy01 hopefully they will get someone in there within the next week or 2. I wonder if they were forced resignations

I wondered if the assistant was hoping for the director position was denied and thus she decided to leave. She says she is going into telemarketing and is very excited....

Allowing them to resign is obviously more charitable for future employment searches.

lfig I'm glad you have a diagnosis. That pic of her writing makes my wrist hurt, I can't imagine what it must be like for a 4 year old. I hope they can find some meds that don't interfere with anything else, but make her feel better quickly!

Two resignations at the same time seem to make more sense if they were forced. I hope find people who can take the direction of the daycare/preschool in a positive and communicative place.

Hi Ladies, the kids are climbing the walls and driving me nuts today. It's because I am trying ignore them to pack, clean and switch over to fall clothes, so I know it's my own fault.
In other (better) news, I have tried on eleventy thousand dresses and nothing fits my nursing boobs without being huge everywhere else. My last minute Hail Mary arrived today from Modcloth and it fits! Hallelujah! Crisis averted.

I decided I wanted chicken noodle soup for supper so after I dropped H off I ran home and threw everything in the crockpot. Then S & I met friends at skyzone and the girls had fun chasing each other and jumping.

I don't think he wanted the position. OR they are being sexist.
The kids all love him, though and he is really good with them.

tgrimes, are they checking that he got the right kind of PCV vacs? It looks like there are different numbers and certain ones aren't effective until the child is 24+ months

It looks like there are different numbers and certain ones aren't effective until the child is 24+ months ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ All she said was they were going to contact the pedi to have them check his levels because he may need another pneumococcal vaccine. Will you send me what you found, please?

I’m on cup of coffee number three. I have been so unmotivated and practically bored today. I am so affected by the weather.

I’m on cup of coffee number three. I have been so unmotivated and practically bored today. I am so affected by the weather. I'm the same way. I was going strong and went to Trader Joe's, boot camp and then cleaned out the fridge and meal prepped. Then I crashed. I need to get the kids outside when A wakes up if it's not raining, but I have zero desire.

I have my first PTA meeting tonight. Not sure how I became one of these people. Run as fast as you can. They have sucked me in. I have never done drama my whole life and now I can walk my dog around my own neighborhood without looking over my shoulder lol!
