One draw to check initial antibodies, then the vaccine administered at the same time, then another draw four weeks later to see how well his body was able to manufacture antibodies in response to the vaccine.

I would, but I'd be surprised if they do anything other than allergy testing.

My Immunologist indicated an Allergist/Immunologist mostly won't know how to manage a PID, so I would ask them if they are going to do order labs to test for one.

Also let them know about his results and that the pedi's office is discussing administration of another PCV. They don't HAVE to do it the way I described for a pediatric patient, but if they're going to give it to him anyway, might as well get everything coordinated so that can happen, you know?

And if they say they are not going to test for a PID, I would ask them exactly what you said your concerns are about lack of response to initial vaccines. If they continue to refuse, I would go forward with the allergy testing there but ask them to provide information for an Immunologist.

Haven’t read but wanted to catch up. First few days were great. I’ve been moody today due to an upset stomach but Dh and C are napping and I’m headed to Animal Kingdom alone! They can’t do the heat and I can’t do their whining so best to divide. We will meet at dinner in a couple of hours. I’m so happy to be alone for a bit though.

I interrogated gently questioned B on the way to haircuts after school. He said he just loves me and misses me. Swore up and down there are no issues with class, his teachers, etc. So that puts my mind at ease somewhat. He's excited b/c tomorrow they'll do chapel, Spanish AND music class. I'll remind him of all that if he's clingy at drop-off...wish his teacher would, too!

Both kids got trims and now we're home. DH took B with him to the vet to get the labrador her canine influenza vaccine booster. LOL.

It's rainy here and like guster and wineallthetime my motivation is gone for the day. Maybe DH will get home soon and I can sneak a nap.

Cheeksmum baby update:

She’s doing good. Said that he just doesn’t want to move down.
She’s on oxytocin and fluids. Doctor should be back in to check anytime now and once he moves down a little they’ll break her water.

We are getting stir crazy waiting for discharge.


They’ve prescribed a new medication that should help with nerve control and manage pain. I just wish they’d hurry it up because she’s stir crazy and cranky. We are most definitely ready to go home.

Then to add to this emotional roller coaster we have her annual IEP meeting at school tomorrow.

Ok the pediatrician we saw yesterday said LO could go to school 24 hours after fever was gone. His fever broke this morning. But he still has sores in his mouth only from the blisters popping. Would you let your kid go to school tomorrow?

chrisy01, are they causing him any pain at all? He doesn't have any external blisters? If he seems fine, I would probably send him. If he has external blisters, or if the mouth ones are making him not want to eat or drink, then I might let him stay home 1 more day.

No pain. He only complained once when he ate a chip.

See this is where I’m confused. Our pedi said 24 hours yours said not to. Half the medical websites said one and the others say to wait longer. HFMD is so confusing

I feel like external blisters and internal ones are different at this age. They are old enough that they aren't mouthing objects keeping their hands out of their mouths, biting their friends, licking things, sharing cups or bottles, etc. so I'm inclined to be less worried about the blisters in the mouth. Whereas if the external blisters are still leaking, then no, I would have them stay home.

But that's just me.

I also had a pedi once tell me the blisters all over my child's body were not HFM and just a viral rash....that was when her entire infant class as well as the one next door ended up with it. Fun times.

I've been working from home all afternoon because I had to drive Chase to his ENT (which is by my office) this morning. I've been waiting for a break in the rain because it's been nuts today and DNW to wrangle 2 grumpy boys in a downpour. Chase didn't mind the rain this morning but if his brother grumps, he will too.

I dropped all the 24M clothes at Goodwill this morning, moved clothes around so all the 3T/4T stuff is in Chase's closet, set up a collection for the 5T stuff that Colin's outgrown (some of his pants are suddenly longer since his belly disappeared!), did some laundry and got my flu shot. No wonder I've been struggling to stay awake - that's far too productive for one morning.

Colin was clingy at dropoff this morning. I keep worrying about bullying, etc., but once I get him talking, it's clear that he's tired or would rather play with toys all day. Except when he DOES stay home, he's bored out of his mind. This is his first full week of school so I figure we probably have at least a few more weeks of transition before I can reasonably expect his grumpiness to subside. He's been passing out while reading books or watching 1/2 inning of baseball - it's honestly kind of sweet.
