dashook ugh the worst! My back has been hurting 😪 We had our anatomy scan yesterday and baby boy looks great! We also have four set names with first and middle we’ve narrowed down. We are going to wait until he’s born to choose one but I’m super happy about our choices!

So productive today! Did bank, post office, pharmacy, paid bills, walked dog, cleaned the kitchen. Still tired but second tri is a whole new world. Looking forward to Date night tonight - our church does it once a quarter and it's a blast. Last item to tick off the list today - register for infant care, CPR, and c section classes, and hospital tour and car seat installation check (our convertible seat comes tomorrow!).

Question: is anyone a one car family? Or thinking about it? DH had that idea this week to save money and I think we're going to sell my car, both our cars and pretty old but mine has low mileage, but it's a two door. His has high mileage but it's a Honda so we expect it to last like forever. He has a ten minute commute and can work from home whenever he wants, I'll be at home with the baby and we live within 1-2 blocks of basically everything although it's a suburb. Also close to four bus lines, and my parents live around the corner and would be happy to lend a car in a pinch. We're a block from the police station and maybe three minute drive to the hospital so I feel safe. But we're still nervous about taking the plunge and how it might affect our lives!

sunshiney we only had one car for several years but it was before we had kids. It would be impossible now with our jobs. But your setup sounds pretty good, especially with YH able to WFH and parents/a loaner car nearby. I say go for it. Worst case is you don’t like it or it’s inconvenient, and in that case you just buy another car.

I think it would be awesome to be a one car family. We live in a very walkable town too. Can walk to shops, parks, library, school, fire/police station-but not hospital. MH has a less than 5 minute commute and can easily bike to work but because we alternate daycare and preschool drop off on the days I work we have to have 2 cars 😕.

sunshiney I know for sure we couldn’t be a one car family. MH’s office is 11 miles from home and DD and I like to go out during the day pretty often. However, your situation sounds ideal and seems like you could easily make it work with one vehicle. Especially since YH can WFH and you’re able to borrow a vehicle from your parents in a pinch. Jealous how close you are to town. It’d be so convenient to live within a block or two of food/shopping!

sunshiney maybe try it for a couple weeks and see how you get by without driving your car. If it's no problem then do it, but it's better to practice then by blindsided by things you didn't think of. It sounds like you have a good set up though to make it work

sunshiney I agree with Foxy Take some time living as though you only have one car and see how you manage. I’m envious of the proximity of everything to you guys. Sounds like a cool place to live and raise a family

I'm a FTM and the last few days I've been feeling baby boy kick like crazy. I have an anterior placenta so it's taken awhile but it's such a cool feeling now that it's more regular

This weekend has been horrible.
The foster dog and our corgi seem to have been on the outs a bit lately but nothing aggressive, really. Yesterday, the foster took everything off my pantry shelving outside and was acting really hyped up for some reason.
I had to go to my mom's yesterday afternoon so I put the dogs outside since it was nice out and left. I got a phone call a couple hours afterward from animal control. Our neighbors called in about the dogs fighting and they said the foster dog killed the corgi. I just couldn't. I made H go check it out because I was shocked and convinced it was some sick prank call. It wasn't.
We're devastated and I'm struggling not to blame the foster dog for the death of our other corgi earlier this summer. H and I can't even wrap our heads around this. We feel like we've failed three dogs now. I probably won't be on a lot this weekend to post but I'll try keeping up with reading your updates.

@thelittleredhen my heart is so broken for you. It's painful enough losing a dog in the first place but under those circumstances, I'd be inconsolable. I'm so sorry for your loss
