And now I’m sitting in my car trying not to cry after a meeting with my boss. I’m being brought into a new project and starting tomorrow I have meetings that require me to travel and work late. Issue is I just found out today and by working late I can’t pick the boys up from daycare without being assessed a penalty of $20 minimum a day. I can’t afford that (I’m not getting a raise). I basically was given the speech my raise last year was for my dedication and is why I’m being brought into this project because it will grow my career. I have no idea how I’m supposed to manage all of this.

Ugh work keeps scheduling me in meetings during my pump times and I’m afraid it means I’m going to have to stop pumping. I’m happy my career is doing well but I feel like I’m always sacrificing something of my kids for it. Can you take the meeting in a private office or conference room and pump with a pumping bra? If someone absolutely needs me during my pump time, I take the call from the lactation room. I have definitely struggled with pumping this time around, my job is far more demanding now than it was 3 years ago. I can't even imagine in higher-stress jobs... I can now understand how moms struggle to have support for breastfeeding in the workplace even if it's an employer who promotes that kind of image. However I did also just pump in the back of my training room yesterday.. we were in a full day training class and the instructor was virtual, so I didn't want to miss any of the dialogue. I turned on white noise on my phone to mask the whirring pump sound though. And then I pumped at lunch and while driving leaving the office.

oh, kbw I am so sorry you are being put in such a catch 22. (I finally just caught up). Can/Does YH pick them up? I have the potential to travel in my new position as well. I tried to make it clear up front that I could not travel far (more than 2 days) until Olivia was at least 1 year old.. since I am her primary nutrition. You could also always expense something like a Milk Stork service and claim it necessary since they're asking you to travel while you're nursing your child and you need to get that milk to them somehow. I really did not fucking miss pumping though, I'll tell you that. Only 5/6 more months to go though. I promise, you will feel so stressed, but you and YH will find a new normal even if it's a little messy at first. And you can come talk to us. We're here for you!

sunfrogger I have to access to webex during meetings and our pump room doesn’t have WiFi or an Ethernet hook up. I’m going to have to figure something out. As far as travel goes so far it’s just to our other office that’s about another 39 minutes away. Problem is the boys daycare because of DS1’s school is only 5 minutes from our house and she closes at 5. h doesn’t pull into town until 5:45 and I’ll be there around 6 now. H has offered to leave early but hat makes him look bad for the promotion he’s going for. I’m just so frustrated this was never discussed when they asked if they could bring me into this project and that they know I have daycare obligations but are making me feel guilty about my career. And they are changing me from hourly to salary with no change in pay so it’s even more frustrating that I’ll be working all this extra with no reward.

kbw That is soooo frustrating, I'm sorry! Is there a manager or anyone that you are comfortable with that you can bring up these concerns with and let them know how you are feeling? Being a working mom is so hard when you feel like your work isn't supporting you

I think you have a great case for arguing to get WiFi put in the lactation room. Is it in the rest of the building, too? Can they work out some wfh days that can ease the burden of being late and asking yh to do pick ups?

My event is over!!
I took off today bc Liv has been sick all week. MH has been on dad duty while I finished up my event at work so today it's my turn. I don't have access to anything so wfh would be silly so I just took a PTO today.
I have my IUD check and my annual today so miss Liv will just have to come with me.

Good morning! G has a super early pick up time for the bus so she has been out of the door for awhile. The baby is on his first nap right now and I am waiting for my sil. She was supposed to be here before 9 but alas she is late as usual. She hasn’t even text me to let me know she is on her way yet. I get that she is coming by to do a quick favor for me but that doesn’t mean that she should be late. I have plans to buy the baby some clothes since he has no fall stuff.

So Livs fever had gone down all thru the day yday but tonight is back up to 101.7. I know fevers go up at night but since it's much lower I'm hopeful she's almost over this bug.
She did sleep better so far tonight until her blow out at 3am. MH heard me get up though and I got to take a potty break and grab some water which was awesome.
This definitely buys me a ticket on the "get out of your nieces bday party " train so I'm thankful about that. My SIL is nice but I'm so burned out I don't have it in me to deal with her ILs. I have a ton of wash to do - if Liv will let me!
Our trip is this week coming up. I'm anxious bc I don't want to travel a sick baby. I'm hoping she's better by the end of the weekend. I need to book our hotel at any rate for the days we are hanging w family after we stay in the Cape so..

Man. I keep waiting to get into a comfortable routine, but four kids and a busy schedule is keeping life hectic! It’s good though. I stayed up until midnight making personalized hair bows for DD2 and 3’s soccer teams. I’m that mom. 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ Thankfully baby has been sleeping better with only one wake up at night. I wish I could just enjoy that, except she he finally gotten back on the growth chart and I’m paranoid she’ll drop back off. She turned 8 months old on Wednesday!!!

Saturday mornings are the greatest. H attempted to let me sleep this morning, which I really appreciate. It didn't work, but it was nice of him to grab the baby and the dogs. It's supposed to be rainy again this afternoon so I'm hoping for a nap with DD.

I just brought ds2 into the bathroom while I was with ds1 pooping and the baby pulled up to stand holding onto the side of the tub. We better lower the crib soon.
