I'm a little salty towards h at the moment. He's annoyed that he didn't like his dinner and then tried to turn it that he would've liked a home cooked meal tonight. I cook dinner Sun-fri every other time. This is the first Sunday in who knows how long that I wanted a break from cooking dinner for the whole weekend. Whatever dude . Does he not know how to use the oven? Dude knows. But he's gotten... comfortable.. with me cooking every other day. Oh well. No one starved.

I just finished ironing and getting my lunch ready for tomorrow. I feel prepared. At least until noon tomorrow. 🤷♀️ I haven't ironed in like... 17 years. So good for you. You're more prepared than I am! 😂

MH is annoyed with me because I “lost” something of his. Nope, I put your stuff that is left out in your box of crap. What happens to it after that is anyone’s guess.

Did not know Sofia the First was ending. DD watched the series finale tonight. Funny thing is I remember my niece loving Sofia and she's about 5 yrs older than DD so it's been on awhile.

Help me solve an awkward situation. My next door neighbor just texted me saying that he noticed we have someone mowing/trimming our yard, and he’s in landscaping now and thinks he could beat the price. He also said not to go by his yard because he doesn’t want to do it when he gets home. Which is true. His yard is a mess. I like them fine but we are more say hey in the yard neighbors than BFFs. MH is not a fan due to the aforementioned mess of a yard, plus they have a pool and are loud and smoke outside. I do not in any way want to mix these two things, and also we really like our yard guy. He’s nice. He’s on time. And he’s only $70/month, which is cheap. Plus, he does things like drop a watermelon off just to say thanks for being a loyal customer. What do I say? I’m thinking I tell him I signed a contract (even though I didn’t). Is that a terrible lie? ETA Pistol you have any wisdom here? ETA again: we’ve lived here 11 months, and this is his fourth job, which is also a concern. I fire my yard guy, and then in a few months, I gotta get another one?

True confessions: MH really likes that show and was very emotional when they realized they were watching the series finale. He said it was like DD was growing up also. DD comforted him by saying she was sure Sofia would be written into some Elena episodes. I had to walk away so I wouldn’t laugh.

rvasc I would just tell him you've been with your guy a long time and are very happy with his work and price, but, thanks for the offer and we will keep you in mind if we ever need someone

rvasc I don't see anything wrong with a little white lie like that if you think it'll keep the peace. Otherwise I'd just tell him that you're happy with you current lawn guy. I feel squirmy just reading that though. Yikes.

I just realized tomorrow is school pictures. They didn't send home a form. The only reason I know is because the picture company emailed. Is 68 to warm for long sleeves? DS doesn't have anything picture appropriate in short sleeves. Shit!

rvasc just tell him you don't like mixing business and friends. Our neighbor is always trying to get us to use his son in law for construction projects or he knows a guy for this or that. We always just say thanks but we're all set.

I still have my polly pockets but no one that wants to play with them. I’m torn on giving them to my best friend for her girls or trying to sell them for some extra cash.

rvasc , I'm a firm no on that. Don't fix what isn't broken. All you need to do is say "we have a very good deal with our current landscaper. We will keep you in mind if anything changes in the future!" Done.

rvasc I would just tell the neighbour that your yard guy is a long time friend and you will continue to use him. He doesn't need to know that it isn't true and he shouldn't be trying to drum up business that way through text. It puts people on the spot.

rvasc, I wouldn't lie. I'm not against lying, but what if he comes outside to talk to your lawn guy at some point. Awkward. I'd say that you are happy with your current lawn service, but if anything changes, you'll get a quote from him. I'm all for promoting your own business, but it's tricky with neighbors & friends. He could've just said 'Hey I do landscaping now so if you're ever in the market, feel free to get a quote from me.' And not over text where the person has to think of a non-awkward reply.

I have a few dresses I pulled out of storage today that need ironing so I’ll do that tonight. I usually do it alone in my bedroom while watching my shows so I don’t hate it

I'm not picky about crappy school pics.

The only time I iron is if a shirt from the drycleaner needs a spot touched up. If something happens to get wrinkly, I steam.

Oh shit was that the last one. DD tapes some longer Sofia that she just said it was a movie. I’ll have to ask her tomorrow.

I would question the undercutting. When I was getting started, I wanted to make sure my prices were comperable to the other companies. It does nobody any favors trying to undercut each other. I’ll be honest. My yard is a mess. H has been after me because he doesn’t want people thinking like your H does, but like him I’m exhausted after mowing everyone else’s yards. Or I run out of time without kids. I would probably say you are already under contract. How much longer is your season? Maybe he will be off to job #5 by the time your season ends and you don’t have to worry about it next year?

I need to bake tomorrow when I wake up. My kid was asking for her Monster Muffins earlier as a snack and I didn't have any.
So funny that it uses an entire bag of spinach and she loves them. If she only knew it is an easy way for me to get some greens into her.

I lucked out and a friend’s in laws have a lawn mowing company and sent me some of their overflow. I have a list of commercial jobs I plan to try to bid on next summer (locations that I think won’t be total pains to do) but my residentials have come from word of mouth or people seeing me mowing and asking for a quote for their place too. At most, I considered doing a mailer for our neighborhood or possibly a few nicer neighborhoods in our area to try to get some nice residential jobs in one spot. But that’s it. I’m not cold calling or knocking on doors. I left that behind with llr.

I would be relieved that this awkward business proposition from a neighbor happened via text and not in person. rvasc I would tell him that you have a really good relationship with you current lawn person, which is not a lie, and is not looking to make any changes at the moment.
