Let’s get this going early today! How is everyone?

Ds1 threw a tantrum this morning because “I don’t want Calvin to look at me!” Hysterics ensued every time C looked at him.

Ever since DH took over C’s night time wakeups 1.5 wks ago, he went from 3-4 wakeups per night to 1 or STTN. I know he did some light sleep training in there, which I am all for but just can’t do, but c’mon kid! I suppose I should just be glad that he’s sleeping better without relying on comfort nursing.

Hi! Sorry I was MIA: we had H's cousin from Australia visit for a couple of days, which was lovely but I am exhausted as we stayed up chatting and drinking wine until 12+ both nights and that didn't stop E waking up at 5.30 one day and 6am the next...

Happy to report I still made it to the gym yesterday

I have scheduled a bunch of nice things for the coming weeks (lunch with BFF, manicure, haircut, drinks with work friends) so I'm feeling pretty happy with myself. I was feeling quite low with the change of weather and I didn't feel I had anything much to look forward to so this helps a lot.

OMG TOMORROW CANNOT COME SOON ENOUGH!
I would seriously go back to work on Monday if I had to put up with DS on a permanent basis for much longer. Thank goodness he starts school tomorrow. DD1 is so much better behaved when he isn't here. It's raining here so we're cooped up inside. It's going to be a long day.

DD2 has really cut back on formula. She's down to about 12 oz a day. Her 9 month appt is Monday so I'll bring it up but I dont think I need to be worried. She poops everyday, is active and happy. And we're down to one wake up a night (or the other night she STTN).

Things have been over the top crazy here. I try to read and catch up when I can but I feel bad posting when I can't involve myself in the conversation

The older boys started school yesterday. Ds1 likes HS but none of his friends are in any of his classes so he's a little bummed. He said the seniors were annoying and loud and reeked of cologne and bo lol Having a kid start HS feels exactly like when he started K 😭 I hate how fast he's growing but love the young man he has become

H used to be a lead singer of a pretty popular band and his old bassist passed away from an OD (I think I mentioned this before). Anyways, he has a 7yo daughter so H decided to do a benefit show where all the proceeds go to her and her grandmother who is now her guardian. It has blown up, which is awesome, but omg time consuming.

So sorry for the novel. I will try to keep up here

Oh also, that awful cold ds3 had, AJ got. He's finally feeling better now after 5 days of a fever.

I'll be packing as soon as ds2 goes down for his nap and hopefully he will be kind and nap for a decent amount of time, unlike yesterday.

I have a potential job opportunity so I need to look over my resume as well. I'm feeling anxious about putting ds2 in daycare but I know that I need to get comfortable with it. These stupid food allergies just really make my anxiety worse.

snuff9861 C has cut back majorly on nursing/bottles as well. I don’t remember the decrease being quite so drastic with ds1.

DS did this. We ended up having to sneak formula into smoothies so he’d have some. DD1 drank formula morning and night until about 15 months because she really didn’t eat solids well. I have a feeling at DD2’s first year check up we’ll be going to milk cold turkey.

We switched to milk cold turkey with ds1. He didn't have any problems and was hardcore fighting bottles he also ate solids like a champ. Ds2 on the other hand ...

pootsen, lol at your DS. I keep telling DD if she's going to stare at strangers in the grocery store she should at least smile. I'm glad DS2's sleeping better either way!

Hi quinn! It's hard to keep up, and it's a busy time of year for a mama of 4 with a sick baby Glad he's doing better, and awesome what your DH is doing.


grumpycat, good luck with your packing, will send sleepy vibes to your kid. Good luck also with the job opportunity! It's stressful going back after being off so long let alone with the food allergies. Would a nanny be an option for you?

As for us, I feel like I've been fighting some sort of bug on and off for the past few days. Today I woke up with goopy eyes, wtf? We had my brother and his wife over for dinner last night. He brought his yummy chicken wings so I just had to do the sides and dessert, so that was nice. DD had a chicken wing last night, so that was fun. She did really well with it and cleaned the bones up pretty nicely, haha. It was after she had already eaten quite a bit, so she wasn't super hungry, but she kept reaching for mine so I gave it a try. It was pretty cute.

blabbermouth unless my mom would be willing to be a nanny, probably not (ds1 is in daycare/preschool and there's no way I will pull him out unless financial circumstances require it -- we would send ds2 to the same daycare center, I just don't know how allergy conscious they are beyond peanuts). The job may be part-time so it's a possibility that she could watch him. And I may not get an offer lol so it may all be a moot point.

Today is DD1's second day of (3yo) preschool. She had a complete melt down on Tuesday when I dropped her off, but when I picked her up she seemed fine and they said she calmed down after a few minutes. She's still saying she doesn't want us to leave her there alone, but I'm hopeful today will be better. My mom is dropping her off though and I'm afraid she might linger. I joked that she better not give in and bring DD1 home, but I could totally see her doing it.

In other news, side effects from my mom's chemo (last Friday) have been minimal so far. Food tastes very bland and yesterday her stomach started hurting her. But she said that the medicine they gave her made her stomach feel better, so hopefully things don't get too much worse. They said that she'd probably feel her weakest on day 7, which is tomorrow.

My H and I are trying to get medical insurance figured out to prepare for the possibility of me quitting my job. I REALLY want to do it, and as long as we can get medical coverage and start cutting back expenses, we will be totally fine financially. The thought of quitting the job I've had over 10 years is terrifying though. Tonight I'm attending a webinar that a photographer is hosting, I hope it's inspiring and helpful!

Lol, this morning’s toddler tantrum was “daddy, come in my room” (he was already in her room), “daddy get out of my room”, cue water works. 🤦‍♀️

3 day weeks are awesome but also stressful. I’ve got to get some calculations done today and somehow it’s already 10!

DS is 9 mo today! I forgot to schedule his appt until this week, so next Friday it is. Whoops. I’m anxious to see how his weight is, because my milk is definitely decreasing and I wonder if I can start reducing the volume in his 3 bottles. His solids intake has gone up a lot. All this week I’m only getting 10-11 oz instead of 16 I need, so I’ve been dipping into the frozen milk.

Speaking of frozen milk, I’m donating all my December milk to a mom down in SD when we are down there this weekend. DH doesn’t know about the cooler coming with us! Ha

grumpycat daycare is stressful enough but food allergies make it 10x worse. I am luckily that the daycare the boys go to is peanut free/no outside food allowed and they have a nurse on staff. I have had several conversations with her and ds2’s teachers (once for an issue with potential for exposure and she was very on top of it). I’m not going to lie though, everyday that he is there I feel anxious that I’m going to get a call that he was exposed especially as he’s eating more table foods. I think the best thing is to talk to the director and find out how they handle food allergies and safety.

My pumping has been abysmal the last few days, after 10 days of no pumping. I’m definitely going through my freezer stash. I’m debating just weaning him a little early (he already gets some formula) instead of waiting until October. Or trying to up my milk supply.

Semi related question - does all formula smell terrible? Is it just the Similac sensitive that we use? Am I a weirdo with an oversensitive nose?

Yea I will need to do that. I know they are good with peanut free but eggs are going to be more challenging. They don't allow outside food beyond breakfast and it has to be peanut free. I know that there are daycares around that I'd be able to bring all of his food in but I don't really want to be doing two different daycare drop offs :/

Why do people who haven’t raised kids in 40+ years think they know more about safety standards then current moms? This vent it brought to you by my mother who:
1. Argued with me about when you introduce cows milk (she was claiming at 9 months) and sideyed me when I said it was 12 months
2. Then proceeded to argue and questioned me when I was talking about the newest car seat recommendations. She was claiming it was rear facing until 3 and wouldn’t believe me when I said they recently changed and were no longer were based on age.

Can confirm, good method. This is what we do too. It started because with DS1 I didn't hear him and H would.

MIL talks about the car seat she rented from the hospital for $15 total. But she realizes things are different and then proceeds to feel badly about the choices she made back then. "if we only knew back then..." is her go-to. Then I have to remind her that interstate and highway speeds were also 40-50mph.
