Well we had a busy week.. we went to one last night in top schools that we saw over the weekend. They had another offer on the table but the agent told ours basically that they didn't like it and price was flexible. We determined to be too small and the commute was brutal...mostly psychological bc we drove right past our current apartment and then sat in 25 min more traffic. So that was a pass. I'm kind of tapped out right now, but we did just realize we can afford a lot more in DC than in MD, granted those houses are as if not more competitive. I keep reminding myself that if we purged a lot of our crap, we fit just fine and our zoned for an amazing school, so it's okay to wait for the right house. That sounds good. No need to force something if your current situation is working ok. Just out of curiosity, is VA an option for y'all, or do y'all prefer to be on the MD side of things if you leave DC proper? Since MH works in Bmore, VA isn't doable with commuting. If he were to change jobs, I'd be open to VA mostly for the in state college options. It's funny though, most MD people hate VA and vice versa. I do see the traffic into VA from DC when I get the kids and am always glad to be going in the opposite direction when we leave.

Yes, I knew you'd mentioned B'more at times so I wondered if there was a connection there that kept y'all looking on that side. I only know enough about NoVA to be dangerous; pretty areas and great schools but yes, the traffic is insane. MH has had offers for jobs at the Pentagon, but he has no interest, so it's never really been on the table for us. I remember as a high schooler, my mom and I went up and toured UVA and Wm & Mary; we noticed that when the student guide would ask everyone in the group where they were from, people were very clear that they were from "Northern" Virginia. As outsiders, Mom and I got such a chuckle out of that, it seemed kind of snotty. Like, we don't say we're from "northern Florida". But after living up here, I get the distinction, lol.

tgrimes that sucks about M’s teeth. Weird that it seems infected but she hasn’t been complaining. Poor girl. joelies Poor C. I hope his eyes are better by now and he has a great day tomorrow. Love the pic! He looks so excited. lfig Glad they caught it in situ. Two of my coworkers this year had the same thing and had to have the margins cleared. I scheduled an appointment to get my moles checked in a month. peachsmama How horrible. Why are people such ass wipes??

guster she said she had a good day, but that she doesn't like taking pictures sometimes. Oh, good. I thought she didn’t like the class she was in. Glad that isn’t the case. And even being a little grumpy for having a picture taken, she’s still super cute!

flamingo lol NoVa is basically it's own little state within Virginia. That's pretty funny how obvious it is, even on college tours! I probably wouldn't want to work at the Pentagon either, I've gotten turned around in the parking lot by accident there, it's massive.

joelies omg! 💜 you are going to have to virtually hold all of our hands next year for this milestone. There's another N13 babe starting K this year too right? B has his 1.5 hr staggered entry on Tuesday morning, from that classes and teachers will be determined and his first Kinder day Friday the 7th. Kinder for us is Mon-Wed & Fri half days.

I thought cheeksmum 's N started K this year. N started K (JK - Junior Kindergarten) last year, this will be his second year in K (SK - Senior Kindergarten). He will go into Grade 1 next year.

You guys were chatty this afternoon! I was trying to catch up while I was at work but I was actually busy today. I got home a little while ago and my house stinks. DH just took the trash out yesterday so I can’t imagine that’s the issue, so I cleaned the kitchen sink drain with baking soda and vinegar. Hopefully that does the trick.

That’s smart, tallb. If you all fit easily now and there are good schools and an easy commute, another year or two might help you find the very perfect house.

Do you have potatoes that may have gone bad? This is a downfall of mine...I buy a bag, then never use them fast enough, and end up throwing half a bag away because one will rot. And the smell, oh geez, so bad.

Also, depending on where your laundry room is (mine is same floor right outside of kitchen), I have had towels that MH used to clean up a mess (spilled milk once) and then he threw in the laundry sorter and didn’t tell me. Then like 2 days later the smell was awful. Took me a while to figure that one out.

We had gone out one weekend and I apparently took potatoes with us. The next time we went, the smell when we walked in was terrible. Finally found the potatoes under the sink...the sprout coming out of one of them touched the bottom of the sink basin. I'm pretty sure I never took potatoes out there again. One of my friends at the time was a musician/songwriter and she wrote a song for me called 'The Potato Gifter.' It was hilarious. We still joke about my lack of potato usage.

Similar thing for us... only in a camper! Went to the lake, put them in a storage under the seat for the table. When we got home I cleaned out the camper, but forgot the potatoes apparently. Several weeks later, we went to pack up the camper for another trip to the lake and when we opened the door the smell was horrific. Found the taters...they had sprouted and gelatinized a bit. It was awful. We had to use a lot of air freshener on that trip!

And my mom's basement...I'm hoping to load up all the too small clothes and baby toys this weekend to store there until we know what we are doing with them.

My sister and BIL live in a condo with no basement (though they do have a 1 car garage) and we have so much of their stuff in our basement! I want them to move so they can take it back.
