Hi everyone! Thought I'd get in early as it's H's birthday and I'll probably not be on this evening
Thanks to the stupid internet I'm now worried about BabyWaffle's development: she's 9 months old and doesn't crawl or sit unsupported. For some reason, she doesn't use her hands as support (prefers to play/reach for toys) so she'll inevitably topple over after a wee while.
She was born 5 weeks early but is on track in every way (height/weight/etc.) and I wasn't worried about it but after reading of 7 months old crawling and pulling themselves up, I'm starting to freak myself out. Talk me down please!

Waffle Dont read much into what baby is doing at a certain age. Right now what is important is if she is increasing her skills, at her own pace. I would only be concerned if she is plateauing.

Waffle ds2 is just starting to pull up at 10 months old. There's such a range for normal (though I would say 7 months is on the early side for crawling/pulling up). There are exercises you can do to encourage sitting independently and tons of tummy time (if she doesn't immediately roll over lol) will help build core strength. You can pull her into a sitting position from laying down, place her in a sitting position in the crook of your bended leg (she will have some support, but also the ability to wobble -- wobbling is important to figuring out balance). She will get it! Eta ds2 didn't crawl until 9ish months but he had been sitting for months. They really do go at their own pace.

I know it’s hard but try not to worry Waffle. There is such a wide range of “normal” for this age. C didn’t really start sitting up unassisted UNTIL he started crawling- because then he would push back from a crawling position to sitting. And although his gross motor skills are great, he doesn’t talk at all and still can’t clap, wave, etc. All babies are different.

Waffle Try not to worry yourself. Every baby is SO SO different. My BFF has a daughter 4 weeks older than DD1 so it was easy to get caught up comparing them (especially because we traveled to Europe with them when the girls were 5-6 months old). Her daughter rolled way earlier than mine (DD1 rolled a couple of times on the couch at 4 months, but didn't again until just over 6 months and even then, girl was LAZY), DD1 could sit unassisted way before her daughter, her daughter crawled a couple months sooner than DD1, DD1 walked several months before her daughter(DD1 walked before she crawled, which is a whole other thing people gave us crap for). They are both very healthy and smart 3yo girls now.

Morning Ladies!
My mom's appointment with the oncologist yesterday was very optimistic. She starts treatment with medicine tomorrow and then begins chemo next week which she'll do every 3 weeks for 4 months. We're all feeling so much better about things now and my mom really likes her doctor (which is a relief because her experiences with the doctors before this have not been great). I think I mentioned before that my mom lives with us, so one of my brothers is coming to spend the night tonight so he can take her to her appointment tomorrow. And we've all (there are 5 of us siblings) talked about helping take her to all of her appointments. I know my mom always misses my two brothers who don't live in town, so I'm really happy that they'll be around more for her. And also, I'm selfishly excited to see them more too.
I'm happy it's Thursday, cause it's one day closer to Friday! Not much on the queue today, I'm still trying to figure out everything that has been neglected on my desk while I was out on leave. It looks like I'm going to have to file a ton of amendments, which sucks, but hopefully I can get it all organized without having to do too much digging.

Waffle I know it’s hard not to compare or worry but babies really do develop at their own pace. You can always give your pedi a call if you’re concerned.

Well my family is now recovered but of course my mom got it somehow in the 5 minutes she was here. Daycare said it’s running rampant and confirmed that kids and parents are getting. Please oh please let ds2 escape it! I’m working from home again since my mom is sick and she usually watches DS1 on Thursday’s. In between working I’ll be disinfecting everything!!

Bewb is almost back to normal. My ob told me to look for any flu like symptoms/fever and if the soreness didn't continue to improve, let them know asap so I could get on antibiotics.
Ds2 is loving it because I'm just letting him hang out as long as he wants. Siiiigh.
It's a beautiful day here so I have the windows open and I'm hoping to go for a walk later.

Morning everyone! We got out for an early walk while the air was clear, it was supposed to stay good all day, but the smoke seems to be rolling in again 😣 might go to mama baby bootcamp after DD's nap and might meet some friends at the library for yet another indoor day. Waffle, you are me! Try not to worry about it! Kids truly do all go at their own pace. There could be good reasons too, like it seems like you travel a lot so maybe she doesn't get as much floor playtime as other kids etc. If you are concerned though, ask your doctor and I'm sure they will reassure you. My kid sat well from an early age, although will sometimes still topple, but she just started army crawling at 9.5 months and I really wasn't sure if she was ever going to! belle0720, good news! Having a doctor you can trust makes such a difference too.

Great news belle0720, it's really important to be at ease with your doctors. grumpycat, yay for normal boob ! Thank you for the reassurance everyone. I'm normally rational though I'm a natural worrier but I've freaked myself out about this. I'll blame pms and my co-worker with the baby 3 weeks older than mine, who keeps asking me if she is crawling or saying mama yet 😐😦😡

The woman who lives across the street had her baby 2 weeks before me and she always brags about how much her kid can do and says "aw" when I say AJ doesn't. Like, it's not a competition lady 🙄 I know it's tough, but try not to compare. Out of all my boys, AJ is behind on everything. And even being a 4th time mom I still get worried too

Ds3 is finally feeling better so we went to the he playground this morning.
We got a sitter for later on tonight and are taking the older boys school clothes shopping. It'll go much smoother without the babies

@waffles- I follow a lady on IG called Candokiddo-she’s an occupational therapist and she’s always posting tips on exercises to do. Her daughter is 10-11 months and has Some mobility delays (or something) so she’s always posting activities. I’ve used lots of them with N.
Even if your child isn’t behind (I’m not saying yours is at all!) they are good to do!

Waffle, DS was 6wks early and I felt like he was behind on everything. He was just taking in the world at his own pace, and that's totally cool. Even if it doesn't feel like it at the time.

I'm late, but Waffle, ditto what everyone else said. There is such a wide range for babies learning to do things, it varies so much. Some babies focus a lot more on gross motor skills like crawling and sitting up, others focus on other things like fine motor skills, verbal skills, etc. Honestly they will mostly all catch up by a certain age. Speech is one area where some kids take longer and require extra services, but everyone I know whose kid had to do that (around age 2.5-3) said their kid caught up to their peers in a pretty short amount of time.

Also, hi. I will catch up in a few. I worked with the students this morning in the lab, which helped eat up some time. It has been slow this week. I'm not complaining, but it does make the time go by more slowly!
H left to go to the ILs for the weekend, because MIL had a trip with a friend planned, and she didn't want to leave FIL alone for too long. I am glad he is going up, and I wouldn't have any other way, but I am dying for some time to just relax. The weekend before last, H was gone at his sailing thing, last weekend we made a super quick trip for nephew's bday, and this weekend H is gone again. I did actually get a sitter for Sunday so that DD1 and I could go to the bookstore and to see the Incredibles 2, finally. It is her first movie in a theater! Our sitter will watch the baby. I am happy that we will have some one on one time, and I am sure that will help get me out of my exhausted funk.
I actually will have a day off on Tuesday, since I work the following Saturday. It was supposed to be the day I go to Bachelor in Paradise finale, but MIL can't make it because of FIL. I am actually relieved- it would have been stressful to make work in the middle of the week, and I'm tired. And I have to go get my car checked anyway for some rattling noises. At least I will be alone on my errands? LOL.
Anyway, just here to word vomit today.

I got an iud today. The whole process took about 15min from me walking into the waiting room to getting in my car to leave. It also didn't hurt at all. I was a little shook by how low key it was. I had some mild cramping, but that's almost gone. Hopefully, it's continued smooth sailing until 2023.

I was going to tell you guys, DD2 learned how to whisper. I didn't put it together that that was what she was doing, until DCP whispered to her and she whispered her little non-words back. I was cracking up.

I feel like crap. I went to the doctor this morning and the rapid strep test was negative, but my tonsils are covered in white patches. They put me on antibiotics anyway but the nurse practitioner was clueless about breastfeeding and meds.
I already planned on vacation for tomorrow, but I spent today on the couch too and just want to crash.
But I have to feel better by Saturday for fantasy football draft.

Straight up amoxicillin or other penicillins should be fine for BFing, I think. As far as antibiotics go, those are generally mild. And cillins are very effective against strep.
