DS has 4 teeth and based on the crankiness and biting I wouldn’t be surprised if more are on the way.
He doesn’t sttn either. But I’m ok with where we’re at, 1 wake up sometime between 3-5 am, otherwise he sleeps 12-12.5 hours. I’m torn between wanting to night wean before I go back to work in the fall and wanting to keep the motn cuddles/baby time. I will probably just keep on keeping on for now
He wants to walk so badly. Cruises furniture with only one hand and is a speed demon with a walker or holding hands. He can stand by himself for a couple seconds but his balance is just not quite there. Crawls everywhere, mostly a bear crawl now which is super funny. He also likes to kick and step on stuff 🤣 He will hold onto the couch and repetitively kick a soccer ball, it’s adorable

@augustooms I thought Crazy Rich Asians was hilarious- especially with the perspective I have living out here and regularly dealing with ultra-high net worth individuals as a result of my profession. I’m currently reading the next book, China Rich Girlfriend. It’s not as good as CRA, but still entertaining. Lemme know what you think of it when you are done!
I think we’re dealing with roseola over here / day 2 of fever, but baby is fine if we get fever down using Motrin or Tylenol. No snot, coughing, or tugging at ears. If the fever isn’t gone by tonight (the 48 hour mark), I’m taking him to see the pedi on Monday morning.
Lame weekend here with a sick baby, but we are making up for it by baking cookies and ordering out a special lunch in celebration of the queen’s birthday (today). The Queen’s bday is also the local Mother’s Day, which is a big deal over here. Public holiday on Monday, and everyone takes time to be with their families.

Taitai, ugh! About baby...fx he’ll get over his fever soon. doodlemommy, shoes are expensive for such little feet. I know you’re in Canada but I’ve gotten good deals on amazon for stride rites all under 25. I pretty much constantly on a lookout and I basically have shoes for DS 3 sizes up. We also only just get by with 1pair of shoes. I know other kids with multiple pairs of shoes but I rather spend the money on a good pair of shoes than multiple low qual uncomfortable shoes.🤷🏻♀️

Luckily her feet grow slowly and I’ve so far been really lucky guessing sizes for the next year and buying end of the season clearance. I got her boots for this upcoming winter for $8 and already bought next summer’s jelly shoes for $5 and flip flops for $1! It’s running shoes that are the craziest prices I’m finding. I had been really good at shopping deals and buying ahead but only one of each size, so indoor shoes for school were not considered in my stockpile! I need to start thinking about that now too I guess

Oh man Taitai, I hope your DS is feeling better. That was us last weekend - Friday low fever, kind of blah. Saturday and Sunday high fever, came down a bit with motrin but DS was still just miserable. Finally woke up Monday with it much lower and feeling better. I was going to take him in to the pedi Monday if there was mo improvement cuz then I was worried about ears and whatnot, but he seemed to clear whatever bug he had on his own 🤷♀️ I hope the same for you guys!!

I ran to the outlet mall to look for some more tops for work and forgot it was tax free weekend. It was packed as soon as it opened. Now I’m in the car with the sleeping baby while H runs into Walmart to find pipe cleaners. Green ones.

It’s hot today nothing new. I’m sitting outside under our pergola which isn’t too bad and keeping an eye on DS while he plays in the “pond” he removed most of the rock to get to the water surrounding our bubbler 😫 so much for a “nice” landscaped water feature. W/e it keeps him busy and out of trouble and out of hubs hair since he’s running in and out of the house pulling electrical cables. Of course baby just woke up from nap. I just wished he’d sleep for more than an hour. He woke up super early today so one would think he’d be tired but nope 😡 curmudgeon, anything good from the outlet?

No period here yet but also still breastfeeding and honestly, they were few and far between before I got pregnant and I was considered perimenopausal so there’s a good chance I might never get another one. Which is fine I guess. I won’t miss the hassle of it but it also kinda makes me feel old. 😭

Taitai I have had very few interactions with the ultra rich and a few with people who have generational wealth but it’s a whole different universe and way of thinking from the way I’ve been raised and live. I need time away from the kids to keep reading the book, I think the movie is out here soon. I hope your little guy is feeling better.

Well, the deck is almost finished! We just have the very end pieces to do which will require some extra muscle. For now, everything is finished enough to let the cats back outside, which makes them very happy. Pics to follow!

It was supposed to be nap time but the only one who fell asleep without any issue was DH. We are heading out shortly to a friends for a BBQ and swim.
So I found a house in our price range and the listing had no pics but said it was fully renovated. I did some digging around online and found it was previously listed in January for a significantly higher, and pictures of it. I called the agent yesterday to see if I can get more pictures and find out more about the house he said sure I’ll email you later we are holding off on offers until next week. I don’t get an email till around midnight, and find out that the agent is also the owner. I sent an email first thing this morning and haven’t got a response. I’m very confused and this seems odd, don’t you want people to buy your house? Like no pictures on your newly renovated property and not responding to emails?

Spent morning in UrgentCare because DD2 not only contracted strep from DD1 but added an ear infection with it. H write sub plans for tomorrow because.. I have to appear for Jury Selection tomorrow since I got it postponed right after DD2 was born 😑😑😑
DD2 acts like we’re poisoning her with the meds. H tried to help this morning but honestly it’s easier to hold her down myself and do it (using arms, legs, feet, whatever to pin her). Ugh. This is the where I hate living so far from any family because it’s all on H and I with no help and using all our sick days.

So sorry danvers. I hope your girls are all better very soon. I went shopping during nap time this afternoon and found a couple things I've been needing. It was great to get out of the house solo but I still felt rushed to get home because I needed to be home in time to feed LO after his nap. We think he must be working on another tooth (#8). We gave him some motrin, hoping that we'll all sleep better tonight. 🤞

I’m going to have myself a little pity party here so I don’t bring down the randoms this week:
I’m really frustrated tonight because DD2 has been sick all.the.time. The only time I have seen my baby without congestion or whatever was this summer out of daycare.
now I feel guilty too for sending her because she is always sick there. Like if I stayed home I could just cuddle her all week and she’s be fine and there’s be no pressure to write sub plans and use days and prepare everything for home and school.
This is all super irrational because I love my job and love the early learning center the girls go to and LO will be fine but I feel like my sweet baby only knows sick except for 2 small months this summer.
I have no idea what a compromised or surpressed immune is and it probably isn’t even fair for me to throw around these labels when real people/babies have this but I just want to figure out why she can barely go 1 week at daycare before being sick. I’m going to ask her doctor at her year appt if the menegitis at 3 weeks old could have set her up for this or if we should be doing more or what.
Just sad my baby is always so sick and I can’t fix it and have no choice but to go to jury selection tomorrow ☹️☹️☹️

Thanks for all the love by the way. Just tired and feeling lots of irrational mom guilt about work and home and everything. You all are the best.

danvers big hugs. I would be feeling the same way and frustrated with the situation- I think anyone would. I also feel so bad for your DD2 - it’s no fun being sick when little like that. I think bringing it up with the pedi is a good idea, if for nothing more than just discussing the situation with an expert. FWIW, my sister was always sick the first 3 years of her life, but then it got better and she ended up being pretty strong and hearty while we were in grade school. Hoping you get a break from the sickness soon!

I feel like what you described is exactly what we are going through! I thought all was better last night (sun night), because he hadn’t had any meds for like 8 hrs and his temp was normal. Fast forward to 10:30pm, he wakes up crying with a fever of 103.4! 😩. Tylenol got it down to the low 100s...it’s 12 hours later (no meds since) and temp is 100.8. Ugh. Just barely a fever. I have an appointment in 2 hrs just to make sure it’s not strep or an ear infection. I really think roseola is to blame, but DH wants me to take him in just to be safe. I hope it’s viral and this dumb fever goes away soon!

I need time away from the kids to keep reading the book, I think the movie is out here soon. I hope your little guy is feeling better. Yeah - I have strong opinions about generational wealth and the lack of empathy/selfishness I witness regularly among the super rich people I interact with. My opinions are extremely rare for someone in my position/social circle- so I just have to deal with frustration on that...a lot. At least the main characters in CRA are likable and somewhat charitable, so I still enjoyed the read. I can’t tell you how many stories I have of seeing my friends blow through mommy and daddy’s money on Hermès Birkins or sports cars....and then balk at the suggestion of paying their driver or nanny $100 more a month in salary...so the driver/nanny can afford school books for their kids. FFS - you are carrying a 25K purse! Or they intentionally skip charity events at their kid’s suuuuper expensive school, because they don’t want to be pressured to donate $150 to orphaned and stateless kids in the north. Ugh. And sorry to burst anyone’s bubble...but super rich Americans that I know and interact with aren’t a whole lot better. 99% of the time, their #1 goal is to increase and preserve their family wealth, and they don’t really care if the people they elect to help accomplish that goal do it at the expense of middle-class or people holding lower socioeconomic status. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet (and other ultra high net worth individuals who have pledged to give away the vast majority of their wealth) are anomalies. End rant. 😬

Hugs danvers. Could you try a probiotic for DD2? It won't solve all your problems but it might help a little. We use Klaire Labs probiotics for both boys. The children's chewable for DS1 and the infant powder for DS2.

Taitai I imagine you have to bite your tongue often. It’s really sad to hear that you encounter these sorts of things, especially when in your part of the world a little can go a long way in improving peoples lives.
