What?! Why?! HOW IS IT AUGUST ALREADY?!?!?!
S starts school the first week of September. At some point we have to go shopping for that.
Today I had to run an errand, so we stopped at a spray park with friends for a bit. Later we're going to my mom's for supper.

Yep, we held DD1 back a year, but she'll be starting 1st grade in mid-September (they just finished school last week here). There are some nasty bugs going around right now and I'm really hoping we can avoid them with our flight coming up next week. But of course the girls want to play with their friends before we leave for the US.

I can't believe it's already August. I have already had 4+weeks of travel since May and one more starts Sunday. But that's the last of the big stuff. The guy that owned the farm we rent passed away at the end of June and we are deep in the -do we buy, not buy, build on our property, making offers and counters and quoting buildings etc. process. It's still all very unclear and I really don't know where we will be this winter. On the kiddo front L's daycare (Montessori) is closing for a week for repairs. We pay monthly tuition... am I wrong to find this really annoying? I am paying a premium for a certain number of days per month and now I have a whole unexpected week of days off. I am not happy. Other than that she is a hellion on wheels and too smart for my own good. Hugs and hi to all. Hoping I will have more time to check in soon. Xoxo

kcrkcs I'd be annoyed about the unexpected days off. The least they could do is refund part of the monthly tuition.

kcrkcs I’d fully expect that to be prorated, or announced far in advance, or included as part of their annual training days (ours always had two days a year off for training, but paid at full rate). @kelltothekell what’s baby’s due date?? So exciting! I hope the next few weeks are easy on you. Dh just started wfh and it’s weird. Like he’s here, but not here, all day long. I am actually never alone. Check in with me again once he starts traveling, but I may need to take up running or get serious about hitting the gym sans kiddos. Speaking of the gym...anyone working out? I feel like I should be getting back to that and it’s hard!! Both time and motivation are problems. I had two people inquire about me helping them buy a home though. Super exciting! Hopefully it goes somewhere. My baby sleeps in 2 hour spurts. Sttn would be good anytime now. Or at least only getting up once a night.

dizzycooks I was doing amazing at going to the gym regularly, but then we were down to one car for like a month, and I switched meds to something that made me have zero motivation and energy. Now I'm switching again, so hopefully I'll get back on track

Only 4 days until we fly. It has been over 95° here for a week and there is no air-conditioning. It is making it hard to sleep at night, and I'm feeling very cranky. And the day we fly we have to wake up at about 3:30 am (departure for the airport at 4:30), which will make it a super long day.

2 days until we fly and DD3 came down with a 102° fever last night There's a fever bug going around at preschool and I hope it's that because other moms are reporting just a fever (no other symptoms) and it lasts 2 days. So... here's to hoping!!
ETA: I guess on a positive note, she got me out of my last 2 days of work before vacation?

Happy baby month @kelltothekell! I hope you're feeling good. crimsonandclover, I hope DD3 recovers quickly and before your trip. School starts here in about 2 weeks. August is generally super quiet - even the local library shuts down its story time for the month. I like to get out of the house at least once a day with the baby, but lately it's just been trips to target.

But, we're going to the beach next week! We're doing a group trip and there will be lots of toddlers - my toddler will be the oldest, then there will be twin girls who are 3 weeks younger than him, two other girls who are about 1.5, and my baby. There will be 7 adults, so we'll outnumber them by 1. We've traveled with the other people multiple times before, but never since we've all had kids. I'm super excited, but also expecting a little bit of chaos. Wish us luck!

I’m soooo behind!!! We’ve been traveling and just got back Monday in time for meet the teacher and school started today. Ds started 2nd grade and dd started her first day ever of Montessori at the school DS used to go to. I’m so anxious to see how she does. She didn’t care when we left but I haven’t heard from the teacher in how she has done since then.

Holy moly. So DH and I woke up at 3:30 and got the kids up at 4 to get to the airport. Where we found out that our flight was overbooked and we didn't make the cut. And they couldn't get us to our destination or anywhere within a 3-ish hour drive at all today. So we were rebooked to a flight tomorrow that I'm very familiar with (we've taken it before) and it has a nasty 6-hour layover that usually turns into 8 and is the middle of the night European time (like we arrive at what feels like 7am our time). The silver lining is that we are being compensated enough by the airline that it will probably pay for our whole trip back next year. And tomorrow we don't have to get up until 6, which is the normal wake-up time around here anyway.
ETA: Tired brain. Had to fix a non-sensical sentence.

Hi beenthere!! crimsonandclover so did you have to go home and come back the next day?? Are you still through my airport? That sounds awful. Dhs flight was delayed 4 hours last night so he didn’t get home until 2am.

Dd3 has another appt this week and we are adding methotrexate to her meds bc they found inflammation in her ankle. It’s always something right? Thankfully she’s still not bothered by it so hopefully this keeps everything at bay.

Ugh crimsonandclover im so sorry your trip has started out so rough! Hopefully you finally made it over here ok. dizzycooks good luck with the appt for dd3! How do they determine there is inflammation in certain areas? I ask because we are getting a referral to rheumatology now for DS. He’s been limping since the spring in football with no obvious injury. Ortho and Neuro find nothing to explain his change in gait. And it’s so persistent they won’t chalk it up to growing pains. 😳 I just signed dd up for her first dance class. They do a combo of tap, ballet, jazz and tumbling. I just ordered her leotard, tights and shoes. I can’t wait to see her ready for dance! She is in swim class once a week but she really needs another physical outlet.

dizzycooks hope the medicine is a positive thing for her crimsonandclover enjoy your trip! I may have mentioned this, but we finally got dd in her own big girl room and she loves it. In the beginning, she would wake up some in the night and some days super early. She is now sleeping all night and waking up at 6:45/7!!!! It only took 2.5 years and we have a good sleeper on her own room 😀 she does go to bed later than I’d like (usually after 9) but I’m not gonna worry about it at this point.

So that extra day we had at home turned out to possibly have long-term effects. DH got called out for the firefighters and ended up tearing a tendon in his little finger (right hand, of course), so he had to go to the hospital and now has a big brace on it. He'll have surgery the day after we get back.

scorpioscuba we were referred to the rheumatologist because she stopped walking mid May. She would get a bit better as the day progressed and would be unable to walk again in the morning. Her knee was visibly swollen and her ankle doesn’t flex correctly. We are fortunate to have several pediatric rheumatologist nearby, that isn’t common. I hope you can find one!! They confirmed her diagnosis with blood work which indicated raised inflamatory markers which didn’t lower with time or ibuprofen. She tested negative for a dozen other inflammatory diseases. It was kind of a process of elimination diagnosis. I found out last week there are only about 800 kids in our stare with that diagnosis which surprised me. PM me if you want to chat more. I hope your ds has a less permanent result.
