No ultrasound for me for another 4 weeks. Still on pelvic rest for now. I was really hoping Dr would order it but she doesn’t think 3 weeks was enough time for my placenta to move. Will have follow up at my next appointment along with glucose test.
I was told to fast before my test during last pregnancy. This time they said just don’t eat 2 hours before. Should I be careful about what kind of food I eat?

expatmama11, my OB recommended making an early appointment and skipping breakfast if I can before the glucose test. She said if I'm really hungry to try and have something like a hard-boiled egg or nuts - more protein, less carbs/sugar.

Passed my glucose test. Immediately came home and ate cookies. You're the real MVP

Also, try and go lower carb the night before, too, I'm hearing now that too much sugar the night before can skew your results. Wondering if I may have screwed myself with my 10pm bowl of cereal habit...

No form faxed as of end of day yesterday, so I'm going to call and have them resend and go do the test tomorrow morning. Just how I wanted to spend my Saturday morning, but at least I can get it over with and not have to miss work.
Also, wish us luck, P-day is upon us tomorrow, we're starting to potty train. I'm nervous, but also kind of excited about being forced to stay in all weekend and having absolutely nothing planned.

I don't get my one hour results until today or Monday... but I'm nervous. Last time I did it in the morning and this time it was at 3:30pm. I tried to eat low carb after breakfast, but I felt like garbage after the test and I don't remember feeling crappy last time. I hope I don't have the 'betus because I don't want to do low sugar diet and then allergy diet on top of that 😭

Don’t you get instructions on what to eat before the glucose test? With DD, it was like a piece of toast with two tablespoons of peanut butter an hour before, or something like that. I’m anticipating strict instructions again, unless things have changed over the years.

When I did the one hour there were no instructions and I didn't have to fast. With the 3 hour it had to be at least an 8 hour fast.

I’m anticipating strict instructions again, unless things have changed over the years. My instructions just say not to eat 2 hours before the test and to bring my drink with me. Last time around I was told not to eat anything the night before and morning of test.

There was a big discussion in a FB group I'm in. Seemed like those who did not fast before their 1 hour test failed. The ones who have passed so far were told to fast. I was told to fast, so I will be for mine.

I was told to fast, so I will be for mine. Interesting! It's funny how many different instructions there are for things from OBs/midwives. Mine said just to eat something non-sugary/low carb for breakfast and take it 45 min prior to arriving and no eating or drinking once I drank the stuff. My last provider was the same and I passed that one no issues after eating some hard boiled eggs prior to the test. Others say fast, or don't fast but no eating an hour before you take the glucose. They also have different threshold numbers for what is a fail. Sort of like some ultrasound instructions say you have to drink a ton of water and not pee before the ultrasound and I got literally no instructions and the tech told me to pee before we started.

My nurse said “it’s not a fasting test, but if you want to pass... don’t eat” lol.

I was told to eat a low carb/protein heavy breakfast. I had cottage cheese at 8am and passed my 1 hour at 1030. I think I remember fasting last pregnancy, but did not pass the 1 hour.

I had leftover shrimp, avocado, and corn salad before my glucose tolerance test and I passed. Lately I am all about leftovers for breakfast.

So strange how everyone is so different! I specifically remember the toast and peanut butter because it was a lot of peanut butter for one piece of toast. It was hard to get down. lol. Then I headed there. Checked in. Drank the stuff. Waited. Blood draw. Peace out. I’m supposed to get my glucose test marching orders at my next appointment at the end of the month. Curious to see what it entails this time.
ETA: I passed the one hour with DD.

I think I will eat a couple of eggs 3 hours before my test and leave it at that. I also fasted last time and I didn’t pass.

Ughhhh have to take the damn 3 hour test. Not looking forward to the fasting and 3 hours of waiting around at the lab. Hoping they fax me the forms so I can just go in the morning and get it over with Good luck! It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. FX for good results! I’m sorry y’all have/had to do the 3 hour! I found out I failed my one hour test. I was very shocked and upset. I was hypoglycemic with B so I was hoping it wouldn’t be an issue. I go in Tuesday for the 3 hour, and I’m hoping I can handle it. I was sick all day after the 1 so DH will be dropping me off and picking me up. I’m really worried about GB, I have already been pretty overwhelmed as it is. I’m also anemic so hopefully I’m getting that under control now.

So rude.

notelsie sorry you have to do the 3 hour, too I did mine Saturday morning because the lab was open and I wanted to get it over with. It was not fun, but I managed to distract myself with a movie on my phone and a book. It's funny how the person drawing your blood makes such a difference, my first and last draws hurt, but the middle two were done by a different tech and I barely felt them. I was pretty hangry by the end, I don't do well not eating right away when I get up. This kid is so much more trouble than my first! DD was a textbook pregnancy: no bleeding till I had my bloody show in labor, no previa, no failed Glucose tests... I guess he doesn't want me to miss out on all the extra stuff to worry about!

Sorry, I tried to search but was unsuccessful. What was the heartburn recommendations everyone was giving a while back? Mine has kicked into high gear this week and Prevacid is no longer working. I just need some relief and will also ask my doctor on Friday at my appointment.

How do y’all get comfy at night? I was so frustrated last night that I threw my Snoogle across the room. LOL. I’m so much bigger than with DD and the discomfort is real. I just wanna be comfy and sleep.

I just wanna be comfy and sleep. Snoogle plus extra pillow under my belly works currently, but I still wake up uncomfortable and have to get up and pee and then re-adjust everything to get comfy again. Considering adding more stuffing to my snoogle because it's from my last pregnancy and is getting a little flat. Doesn't help with DD comes into my room at night and takes up space, and the damn dogs want to be next to my legs. At least MH has the sense to sleep in the spare room...
