A child died in ICE custody. I'm devastated. Read the thread. I just saw this. She died of a respiratory illness that was no doubt made worse by the stress of being in custody. Yesterday I heard about a girl in a school in my district whose father died over the summer. He had some health issues, including diabetes, and didn't have access to health care. He was stretching his medication father than he should have and he died. We were at a training for our new student intervention process and this was addressed. We watched a Ted Talk about Acute Childhood Ecperiences (ACE) and how it has an enormous impact on people. I mentioned at my table about kids at the border. I hope people in the room were paying attention. This is heartbreaking. Fuck the pieces of shit who voted for this.

In a shocking bit of decency, the WH names the nominee for OSTP (office of science and technology policy for the WH) director (after a 2 year delay!) and the guy is actually qualified for the job and a reasonable choice! Amazing! His background is in metereology and he was based in Norman, OK (which handles all of the severe weather forecasting, like tornadoes) and meteorologists tend to be pretty real about climate change, so this is hopeful as well from the perspective that the OSTP director is usually the president's scientific advisor. www.sciencemag.org/news/2018/07/trump-s-pick-head-white-house-science-office-gets-good-reviews

And who knows if those parents will even be able to recover her body and give her a proper funeral. A crime against humanity, indeed. I know you guys are all really tired of hearing me talk about the books I am reading, but I was just listening to a part this morning where 3 captive, high ranking German/Nazi officials being held in the UK were having a conversation. The woman is insane and is all if we kill all the Jewish people at the same time, then there won't be any left to come after us for our crimes, and one of the one of the guys says, but no, we have to hold ourselves accountable. We must come after ourselves for these crimes. It was really poignant and resonated with me. #historyrepeatsitself

DiFi: IMPORTANT: A Republican lawyer representing Steve Bannon, Don McGahn, Reince Priebus in the Russia probe and Judge Alex Kozinski on harassment allegations is deciding which of Brett Kavanaugh's records are turned over. This has NEVER been done. This is the National Archives' job.

ICE is saying a child did NOT die in their custody at Dilley. I hope the earlier reports from the immigration attorney are wrong.

They've been working for 12 years to get this legislation re-authorized and I'm only slightly salty (only slightly because it's so important) that he gets to take credit for it.

They should be turning over ALL documents requested, instead a lawyer is going thru all of K's papers and deciding what to release.

I'm having a hard time following this. Someone break it down for me please. It's a conflict of interest. The same lawyer who has clients who might be benefit from a friendly SCOTUS decision on his clients' case in the future is also getting to determine what documents about a potential member of SCOTUS are shared for review. This is also a big part of the problem.

Kavanaugh's worked for the Bush 43 administration. What are they trying to keep from becoming public?

Thank you. My coffee is working very slowly this morning. I guess my question is now-is there anyone that can stop this from happening? Or is this administration just going to do what this administration does?
Fuck them all.

Here is the update. The child died after custody by ICE, because of contracting the illness while in custody and possibly because of subsequent neglect.

I’ve had to reach out to politicians across Texas for an upcoming event. In a weird twist, I’m noticing that Democrats are providing an email as well as mailing address to send info and Republicans are mainly giving me fax numbers. This has nothing to do with anything, other than more evidence the GOP is run by dinosaurs.

FBI agent testifying on how they entered Manafort's home. They knocked three times, stated clearly they were FBI there to execute a search warrant. Used a key when nobody answered. Manafort was apparently sitting right there.
... did he think if he didn't answer they'd just go away?

Well todays briefing should be a riotous time. They're actually having one?! OK but seriously, Giuliani says Trump's tweets this morning were just opinions. Someone please ask SHS about how that squares with months of "His tweets are official statements" policy. You can't just turn that shit off and on to suit whatever comes out of his mouth.
