Help- brownies

I hate making brownies, but my son's school requested me to make them for his graduation...
When I cut them they're not nice squares, they're a mangled mess. Did I undercook them? Do they need to be cooler before I cut them?
I'd rather not be the one who brings a bowl of brownie shrapnel.

They need to be room temperature before you cut them. They'll come out even cleaner if you refrigerate them first.

Yes to room temp. Also don't undercook them too much. DH loves his brownies a bit underdone in the center, but too underdone = cannot get them out of the pan.

I have started running a butter knife around the edges, inverting the pan onto a cutting board, "persuading" them out of the pan if needed, and then cutting them with a pizza cutter. I have had great success with this method.

ETA now I want brownies 😋

I'm happy with the shrapnel, but I already feel like the Loser Mom there. Maybe I should just go with it and provide spoons.

I agree with inverting out of the pan, refrigerating, and wiping the knife after each cut.
