Oh no.... I'm not sure how I'm going to choose a doula now. I like both options!

DD starts 1st grade on 08/15. I put all her school calendar stuff on our family Google calendar. I still need to get her new uniforms and fill out all the paperwork. This summer has gone by too quickly but I feel like that's just one more "event" to cross off before my due date. That's kind of how I'm getting through these last 8 weeks.
-Sprinkle shower thing -First day of 1st grade -1st Autumn semester drop for non-payment at work -2nd Autumn semester drop for non-payment at work -DS's due date

We have a local festival that started today for the weekend. There are local art/craft dealer tents, some live music, carnival rides, local restaurant food stands, little shows and craft project for kids, etc. It's "walking" distance from our house, so we walked there today. I put walking in quotations because it's walking distance for a normal person - perhaps not so much for a 30+ weeks pregnant person..... Bad decision there. Holy bananas I am worn out!
DS enjoyed himself. He actually paid attention and sat for a little bit for some of the kids shows and he's big enough this year that we let him try the painting station! It was pretty cute. I got the mandatory carnival elephant ear loaded with butter and cinnamon and sugar, so that's been delicious!!
Had my OB appt today with one of the midwives in the office I haven't met before. She was so soft spoken and kind. I'm quite sure baby was breech still/again a couple days ago and then last night it seemed like baby had flipped. She confirmed that baby is head down and helped me put my hands on my low belly just right to feel baby's head. Pretty cool.

I haven't had one in 4+ years 😞 (pretty sure a gluten and dairy free elephant ear would not be even close to the same!) Your baby should send my by some head down vibes... We're sitting transverse which is super uncomfortable especially when baby stretches!

We had them (elephant ears) last year at this same festival, but I don't remember the last time I've had one before that! Probably not since I was a kid! Transverse sounds sooooo uncomfortable. Even when this one is vertical and stretches legs out it's gotten rather uncomfortable. Sending some baby turning vibes your way 😉

That sounds tiring but fun tbirdlove! Yay for head down! Hope your LO gets the head down memo soon too brenna. My little guy stretching hurts sometimes, transverse stretching must get so uncomfortable! OMG heartburn. We've been having burritos and quesadillas this week and they're so yummy but I've ended up with heartburn every night. I have Zantac but I need to get some Tums. I'm so ready for bed right now but I'm waiting for the Zantac to kick in a bit before I go lay down.

Nymeria what dosage of Zantac are you taking? I got a prescription from my OB for 150mg twice daily and it's helped tremendously! I still get a little of the reflux-y feeling, but not the burning. I took the same with DS. Hope your antacids kick in soon!

As if pregnancy doesn't come with enough other pain/uncomfortable symptoms...

tbirdlove - We have the 150mg at home. So far I don't get it all the time (yet), so it usually does the job. I just need to get some Tums too so I have something quicker acting instead of just relying on the Zantac after I already have heartburn.

I cannot stop sneezing the past few days and it really sucks. I have to really prepare myself each time so as not to pee myself, and then it hurts my poor stretched abs. I don't have allergies normally, but every few years something randomly gets me around back to school time. But it's even too early for that so I dont know what's going on. It can stop any time now.

tbirdlove - Even though I try to not take it regularly when pregnant, I always have to keep Zyrtec stocked just in case.

My grandfather is getting married in 2 weeks. I had bought a dress when pregnant with DS that I never ended up wearing because by the time my bump was big enough to fit the dress well, I didn't have anywhere I needed to dress up for. Well I've been planning to wear it to the wedding, but my legs are starting to swell a decent amount by the end of the day and I'm no longer thrilled with wearing a short dress. Maybe there's something else long in my closet that will fit...

What Would Sept/Oct 2018 Do?
I called to find out my breast pump choices today and they're not great. A Medela Advanced Personal Double Breast Pump Starter Set (I think it's a lower model than the PISA) or an Evenflo Advanced. No upgrades.
Should I even bother?!
I had issues with a clogged duct a little over a year ago and my PISA just did not feel like it was suctioning properly. I called Medela about it and they replaced the pump (they were awesome and very prompt about it). So the pump I have right now has literally only been used a few times and is only about a year old.
I never really responded well to the PISA in general so I was hoping to try the Spectra S2 this time. Should I consider buying one? Or should I just wait and see how I do with my current PISA and buy a Spectra later if needed? I SAH so I won't be pumping very regularly. Although I did need to pump a bit in the first few months to supplement. Or if I'm going to spend money out of pocket maybe I should consider a manual pump instead? I've heard of women who don't respond well to electric pumps sometimes having better luck with a manual pump.

tbirdlove - I'm looking at the Medela one you mentioned on their website and I can't figure out what the difference is between that and the PISA Starter Kit, which is what's covered by my insurance. They look identical but with different cases and I have no idea what makes them different otherwise. If your current PISA is that new, I might wait and see how it goes then if you still want to try a Spectra buy one then. Rather than spend the money on a Spectra up front and end up responding better to the PISA this time. I bout a manual pump in addition to my PISA and Spectra so I see no harm in getting one of those to help out too. They're obviously much cheaper than electric pumps and I have heard some moms have better luck with them too.

Nymeria it seemed like the only difference was that it had less bottles or something.... I don't even know! Thanks for your thoughts. I'm also leaning towards waiting and getting something else after baby comes if I need it. I know our local Target seems to have a good selection of pumps in-store if I really need something asap. And I can also always Prime something and have it in two days. But I don't even think I'm going to bother with going through the hassle for the insurance pump.... Or same with that situation - I can always do it after baby comes if I need it. Although it will take longer to get it than buying one.

Ok! I've chosen a doula - check!
I've also found a CPST that will come to our house and help with getting two car seats installed properly in both of our cars! How convenient is that?! So we're going to set up a session with her sometime in the upcoming weeks.
Had my yoga class this morning and it felt good. We didn't have class last week and I feel like my body missed it.

Yay! Big item off the to-do list tbirdlove!! I was able to get a police officer who was a CPST to stop by work last time to check out our install job. So convenient not having to drive somewhere! We decided not to bother with one this time. We're using the same infant seat as we used for DS so at this point I'm extremely comfortable getting a good install ourselves at this point. It was awesome having a trained person check it for us the first time though!!

Nymeria the only reason we need help this time is because the seats have to be installed next to each other in MH's car. He is too tall to have a seat behind him. When both seats are installed, they are touching and I'm not 100% on how much touching is allowed. I'm pretty sure my install was correct and that the small amount they're touching is acceptable, but I want someone who knows all those rules to look it over. Unfortunately it's not a free service, but she does offer ongoing support so she'd also be able to help when turning DS FF, when we need to fit two convertible seats, if we get a new car, if we have any random safety questions, etc. It's worth it to have someone certified to be able to ask any questions along the way without having to dig through manuals, call manufacturers and whatever other research to find the answers.

tbirdlove - Sounds like a great reason to have them check the set-up out! Always better safe than sorry, especially when you're dealing with an other than stabdard install!! Bummer it costs money but sounds convenient at least!
