The one were 45 starts out by threatening Iran via twitter.

I keep typing things and deleting. It all boils down to: WTAF is happening?

Dear dumb fuckers in Congress: DO SOMETHING.
I hate Pence. I do. But he won’t start world war 3 over words exchanged on TWITTER.

I know it doesn't start until Wednesday, but this is making me smile and also a reminder of why Trump is going off the deep end this week:

Shit fuck damn. I was stuck in a battle against the 2nd molars all weekend and am not seeing this shit until now.
I feel like I need to start prepping a bunker or something.

Also on Wednesday, Mike Pompeo will testify about the Singapore and Helsinki summits. Should be interesting.

I'm just so....down
the latest I'm seeing is there is a liberal plot to overthrow 45 and to take up arms against those who would try...
I'm thinking Iran isn't too worried since you know, we cant keep our word.

jkjacq I am, too. I tried to disengage this weekend and it actually didn't help. I keep trying to remind myself that Nixon had defenders until the very end as well and that investigation took two years, but at least with Nixon, he actually did some good internationally. That's not the case now.

So some of the Twitter responses to Trump's all-caps threat have been kinda great:
You gotta laugh otherwise you'll cry.

enchanted, I did the same, no news except what I saw on FB, and I tried to scroll past that. C & I had mom/daughter time (shopping, baking, playing) and its just there in the back of my head, 'what kind of world is she going to grow up into'? and the whole 'it doesn't affect you' argument I get from people. Yes yes it DOES, I have a seven year old girl who should be able to grow up with body autonomy, who should be able to grow up and be what she wants to be. And she is starting out with more privilege than most. And yet, those very things are at stake. It is just so damn disheartening.

I'm reading a book about a female spy in Berlin in WW2 and it is extra triggery for me right now. How could that have happened? How can these things be happening again?

byjove What book? Not that I necessarily want something triggery, but you know I read a lot of WWII books. Reading those books, it always kind of blew my mind that no one was able to stop him. I know people tried and there was resistance, but I couldn't understand why they didn't succeed. Now I see what's happening here.

It's the Maggie Hope series (Mr. Churchill's Secretary is the first one). This is the 3rd book. It is much darker than the first 2 and I wasn't prepared for it.

This brought a much needed laugh. I don't know if any of you have watched Whose Line is It Anyway? but it is well known that Colin Mochrie hates that particular segment. And also, Colin is Canadian.
Ryan Stiles: I know this will take lots of time and effort, but it’s worth it. For every person who registers to vote in the November elections, Colin Mochrie will write a personalized hoedown here on Twitter. Thank you America. Thank you Colin.

Have we heard from our Toronto people to know they're okay? I looked for a thread but didn't see one. Fuck, that attack was awful. There is video and it is chilling to see the man just casually walking down the street like everything is normal. That is a very popular part of the city, very family-oriented, usually very safe. Heartbreaking. So far an 18 year old and a 10 year old are confirmed dead along with the shooter, 13 others injured, some with "life changing" injuries.

misskilljoy I don't think I've seen any of our Canadian posters "check in," but I'm not sure who is local to Toronto vs elsewhere, either.
