As usual bright and early before 6am I heard DS over the monitor asking he needed to go potty which he knows how to now by himself ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ A few mins later lil fella started thumping his legs so the day begins. Nothing planned except the usual. Morning walk after breakfast before it we get scorched by the sun then grocery shopping and intermittently cleaning the house in between lil fellas unsuccessful naps.

Baby started squirming and woke me up around 6:15am...as he does pretty much every morning. DS1 was a lazy bones and slept in until 7:45!
We had a relaxing day at home - didnโt go anywhere. There was a nice breeze and it was cloudy/not too hot, so we spent a lot of time outside with DS1 playing. Also did the pool in the afternoon.
Tomorrow, I think weโll go out for brunch/lunch. There is this great Australian breakfast place up the street that has lots of healthy and delicious options. Plus the best aรงaรญ bowls in the city. I am going to convince DH to take us there ๐

Iโm going to see if I can figure out how to spoiler something. ***TW*** stressful news**** Everyone here is really worried and anxious about the rescue attempt to save those boys trapped in the cave with their coach. One of the volunteer rescue divers died while on his way out of the cave a few days ago, there are heavy rains predicted later this weekend, the kids canโt swim/have no diving experience, and the oxygen levels are getting low in the cave. Iโm so terrified more people are going to die and the kids wonโt make it out.
Weโre playing for no rain, which would help the rescuers pump out more water. The best option would be for the kids to just walk/trek out...but it looks like a long shot. Iโm so worried - everyone is in this country.
To top it off, nearly 60 tourists died when their boats got caught in a storm in the south a few days ago. It was totally preventable, as there were severe weather warnings that the tour operators just didnโt heed. Iโm really sad about that too. Not much happy news over here lately.

doodlemommy I hope ds went down easily after you got home. Iโm disturbed by your post. So irresponsible of them to expect other people to watch their own child and absolutely no to wandering around peopleโs homes. I donโt understand parents whom allow their kids to wander around someoneโs elseโs home. I get that itโs tiring to watch them like a hawk. This past weekend we visited a friends house for lunch and the whole time I was like reminding DS to keep his hands to himself and made sure he was where we could see him. A hard no from me too about leaving a 9 yr old home alone. Iโm with Taitai aroind 12 is ok and only if theyโve proven they can be responsible.

Taitai I read about the volunteer just this am too and Iโm thinking about those poor kids. Is it true that itโs taking even the rescue divers 3 hrs just to reach them, making it a total of 6 hrs to and fro? Iโm reading reports all over from 1 mile distance to 3 miles. Iโm praying hard too the water recedes and/or theyโre able to find another inlet from higher ground away from the water.

Taitai you have such great diverse options. Sometimes I forget youโre in SEA. If I was home I would get look for the push cart lady with her tender and warm delicious string hoppers! Now thatโs a breakfast I crave! ETA. DS never sleeps past 7 ever!

It actually takes about 11-12 hrs round trip from the entrance of the cave. The 6 hr round trip is from the rescue forward operating base, which is already inside the cave. You are required to dive to get to the forward base and to where the kids are. It is exhausting and grueling- lots of climbing and wading through water with scuba gear and tanks/provisions...plus low O2 levels. In terms of distance- itโs about 5km from the main cave entrance to the boys. Itโs so dangerous and difficult to reach them and return safely. Hereโs two info graphics:

They are called Khanom Kroc - delicious creamy coconut pods with chives in them. They cook them on these special griddles on the street. Omg yummmm.

He did go down ok once we got home, but my kids have this irritating habit of if they go to bed late, they wake up early. Every. Time. So he woke up at 5:45. Thankfully I was able to feed him and get him back down for a bit, but he is still woefully short on sleep. Today is a quiet day with swimming as the only plan so hopefully he will take some good naps and catch up a bit!

Re: trapped kids. Thanks Taitai for the detailed and more accurate news source. Every news feed I have has different reports and Iโm just tearing up reading them. NYT seems to have a better report and Iโm hoping that the stories Iโm reading are being sensationalized and dramatized. ๐ really hard that the boys and all involved can continue to be safe and brought out soon. ๐๐

doodlemommy. Sigh ๐ same here with both the boys which is why hubs and I avoid evening activities at all cost. Well I was going to ditch out to get groceries when I got lil fella down for his nap but DS puked after breakfast - luckily he was in the dining area when that happened but cleaning that up ate time from putting lil fella down plus I had to set up pnp in my folks room cos the neighbor is hauling rocks from our yard and all that noise would wake up lil fella but then as I was putting him in the pnp he woke up and refused to go back to sleep so I spent 30 mins rocking him then he woke up as I was lowering him in so rocked again back to sleep and now Iโm trapped under my 9 month old ๐ฉ maybe weโll go back to swinging? Although heโs been ok in his crib despite the 30 -44 min nap time

The sun woke me up! The girls have been sleeping in pretty well lately. Itโs going to be rough when we all start school again in August. DD2 woke up sometime to nurse last nights or a little bit but made up for it with morning cuddles till DD1 woke up.
I took the girls to a local-ish childrenโs museum this morning and now weโre hanging out at ChikFilA. Both girls will nap hard on the way home.

Taitai those look sooo yummy I want! They remind me of takoyaki and sorta like a Peranakan treat called Apom bohkwa. Itโs made with rice flour and coconut milk and eaten with a banana pudding type. Itโs not common and only found at Peranakan homes. Iโll see if I can find something on the web for yuu

Taitai those look delish! Woke up to a baby fussing at 630. She had just eaten at 430 so I passed her off to her Dad and slept for another hour. It was nice. DS is with his grandparents this weekend so itโs quiet around here. I love him but man he wears me out. I wonder if he is ADHD or itโs just a typical 4 year old thing. I have a lot I should be doing around the house but currently taking a break while baby sleeps. ๐ด

bootsorhearts1 good to see you back. How have you been doing? I think itโs normal 4 yr old. DS has soooo much energy itโs insane and heโs a handful too. Glad you have the option for quiet time for your own sanity.

Happy Saturday, friends
Baby woke me up at about 7:30 for the day, so nothing terribly exciting there.
We kind of hung out all day today. Made a trip to get gas for the mower and for some food since E woke crabby from her last nap. Now I'm just willing away the time until we can start dinner and bedtime stuff. Crabby babies just don't make for good company.

I took DS1 to Walmart this morning with MIL and let him get this treasure chest diving pool toy thing heโs been begging for. It rained off and on all day so he wasnโt able to try it out until about 4pm. In the meantime MIL and I went searching for a front door wreath for my house but places are already putting Christmas decor out!!!111 so I came back wreathless.

duskymonkey we are ok! We moved about 6 weeks ago so itโs been utter chaos. More than the regular chaos. We keep finding things around the new house that need to be fixed. But itโs all good. We sold our old place no problem and I am closer to work now. The new house feels like home. It did the first second I saw it! We found a permanent nanny finally and she is watching both kids until big kid goes to pre-k next month. I hope she doesnโt quit then. The few times she has only had the baby she is bored out of her mind. ๐คทโโ๏ธ

curmudgeon Christmas decor in July?! Thatโs out of control! bootsorhearts1 Congrats on a successful move! Iโm so glad to hear you are closer to home now - long work commutes really can impact your quality of life. Hope your nanny stays! duskymonkey Yes - the Khanom Krok are kind of in the same spirit of Takoyaki! The peranakan dessert you described sounds very similar to them - hmmmm...banana pudding would be great. Weโre heading to Singapore in a few weeks...Weโre going to check out the hawker stalls and maybe I can find something similar to try! So excited for the food.

We have a crawler. He isn't fast but any means but he's definitely on the move. So bitter sweet. I love watching him learn new things but I can't believe he's changing so fast!!

I was up just after 8 because DH let me sleep in. We went to the farm to pick up our CSA box and then we had my sister and her husband over for dinner. I grilled pineapple for the first time and it was delish. After the girls were down for the night we chilled on the deck and chatted. It was a good day.

I just saw they may have started the rescue operation in Thailand. ๐คfor good news when I wake up in the morning. The rescue started 40 min ago. My heart is in my throat. If any O17ers are praying people, please please pray hard for the boys and the rescuers. Everyone here is terribly worried about it. ๐๐๐

Thanks for the prayers CoachTsWife I started a thread over in general discussion that Iโve been updating. howeverithappened.proboards.com/thread/17346/tw-stressful-news-thoughts-prayersSo far - all we know is that the rescuers are in the cave. About an hour ago, we knew that the water levels had gone down enough that it was possible to walk from chamber 3 (forward operating base) to the main cave entrance. However, there are heavy rains right now up north, so who knows how long it will stay walkable and whether the pumps will be able to catch up with water drainage. The kids still need to dive and hike/climb from their location to chamber 3. Everyone has been on edge all day. Praying hard.
