I am SOOOOOO burnt out on meal planning. I spent yesterday and today trying to think of meals for the week and I came up with two.
Dd1 basically will eat nothing besides plain noodles, fruit, and peanut butter sandwiches. Dd2 is pretty open to eating lots of stuff, my H is not a picky eater but is definitely opinionated about what he is in the mood for. I like a lot of fresh, seasonal veggies.
I need inspiration. Weeknight type of dinner food, healthy, and kid friendly.
GO!

It's been hot, busy and the owner for the farm I rent passed away recently. We are going to make an offer. I am stressed and tired. But my kid is awesome we spent the day at the beach and my hubs is a star. Sorry I only blown through here once a week. Everything will settle down again in September... maybe ššššš¦ššØ

H is on a roll! He finished the basement (except the laundry area, which is my zone), and when I asked him to do a load of dishes this afternoon, he took it upon himself to clean the whole main floor of the house. He even made S clean up his Lego and stuff in the dining room. The playroom is still messy, but hopefully I'll be able to function tomorrow and get some stuff done while S is gone, like organizing in there and maybe getting some stuff done in our room.

***TW Child death I don't know how to spoiler***
A 10 year old drowned at a national park about an hour away from me. They found his body today. Most of the comments on the article I saw are people straight up blaming the parents. One woman said people need to watch their kids better, her son is 12 and she never takes her eyes off him.
It's not even 11 am and I'm so done with people .

Thatās so sad lollipop and yes, people suck. Blaming people does not help. Itās totally unrealistic to have eyes on your kids constantly. We hiked some crazy waterfalls this weekend and even with two kids strapped to us keeping the other two safe was a full time job. Stuff happens, generally itās a scraped knee, but unfortunately bad things happen to the best parents too.

nellieoleson , I am also running out of ideas for the kids. DH eats lunch at home a few days a week while the kids are in preschool/daycare, and for that I use Hello Fresh bc I don't have to think about meal planning. But tomorrow I have planned chicken tortilla soup (it's only like lower 70s here right now, so soup is fine) and Saturday will be goulash. They only eat the noodles with a bit of sauce but ::shruggy guy:: I don't care.

What do you do for sides with whatever youāre grilling, or what does a typical grilled meal look like for you guys? I took the girls out for dinner last night and we played at the park afterward. It was so nice having a break from the usual cooking and cleaning grind

I have - spaghetti, salad and meatballs Zucchini fritters and caprese salad Chicken tacos with kohlrabi slaw crimsonandclover Iāve missed you!! My dh took a new job. Heās going to be won and traveling starting aug.1. Iām a little nervous, but excited for the fact he wonāt have a commute any longer. On the other hand, having him home all day long...oy. Idk. I kinda like being alone. Or as alone as I can be with 4 kids tinydancer how ya doing ??? Anyone else? Whatās up? Iām drowning over here. I actually told dh that last night. The first step to recovery is admitting thereās a problem right? Dhs solution was to buy me roses. Theyāre beautiful.

dizzycooks, so it's a WAH position unless he's traveling? How often will he have to travel? I've been so busy lately that I've hardly had time to check in, but hopefully things will get a little bit better now. DH has been asked to take a different position at work that would definitely be a demotion but other than the blow to his pride, is actually exactly the kind of position we've been looking for. So... he's probably going to do it and I have hopes that that will drastically improve our quality of life because he will go from working about 50-60 hours / week to 33, which would be amazing. And it would be almost the same pay. His health has really been suffering, so for both of us that is one of the main reasons to take it. nellieoleson, the Germans are just all like WTF. And you can even see it on Merkel's face when she talks to him. Like: "I'm trying really hard to be diplomatic, but WTFWTFWTFWTF."

We're finally starting to get more hours at work. I'm up to 15.5 next week. So exciting. Realistically, I should look for a new job, that would give me more hours and/or better pay. But I like my job, I really like most of my coworkers, and I don't want to start the interview process all over again. Plus minimum wage is going up in October, so that will help too. It comes down to what's going to make me happier, and for now at least, that's staying put and taking as many hours as I can get

Nothing too crazy but our favorites are zucchini, asparagus, eggplant (cut into rounds), & sweet potatoes (also cut into rounds). Or a salad and some brown rice. When itās over 100 here we have to keep it simple.

Dd2 was an extreme spitter, so I have tons of sympathy. I spent the whole summer of 2016 with spit up soaking between me and the baby carrier. š

Iām going to try a new thing with the kids once in awhile since they are big snackers and like to pick at their food over a longer period of time...charcuterie boards! I follow a local mom and she posted that she does this every Sunday afternoon and her kids love it. I know we could all make a meal out of it and it looks so fun and pretty! As a side note Iām going to try making my own personalized charcuterie boards as gifts. My sister really wants one so Iām going to experiment. Iāll share the results if it turns out!

scorpioscuba my mom does a similar thing for major holidays for lunch usually. She doesn't do It all on one board, but she sets out trays off crackers, cheese, meat, fruit and veggies. I usually do the same for birthday parties. I got the supplies to make myself a weighted blanket. For the first time, probably ever, I'm starting a project on the same day that I buy the stuff. I want to get this sucker done so I can get some sleep. Thank God for my mother, who is infinitely better at math than I am and helped me figure out how many quilt squares I have to make

This heat wave is killing us. It got up to 35Ā° Celsius today and yesterday. I kept S inside and we set up camp in the basement, aside from running errands. M is miserable between being too warm, and late nights paired with no naps for a few days. There are supposed to be thunderstorms tonight or tomorrow and hopefully that'll cool things off back to the usual more bearable temps

nellieoleson, i'm into sheet pan suppers lately. they seem easier. less prep, less thought, less clean-up. i started with recipes out of pioneer woman cookbook. i recently found this recipe online and it was so good. i made squash and zucchini as a side and strawberries/ blueberries. thelemonbowl.com/roasted-salmon-with-olives-and-tomatoes/ lollipop, glad you like your job! The heat has been terrible here all summer until this week! it's in the high 80s and feels cool! lol. we just got back from the beach. it was a lot of fun. my time has been spent trying to get everything ready for baby and dds big girl room. we painted it purple. ordered a platform bed that is low to ground, dresser and bookcase from wayfair. i also got her a unicorn bedspread and i'm going to decorate with unicorns and maybe flowers. she loves horses. she is really growing and changing!!!!

Technically, S is too big to sit on a person's shoulders for more than a minute or So, but he's also too small to see the stage at a rock concert otherwise. So H and I are a bit sore today after trading him back and forth for the length of the Billy Talent concert last night. Worth every minute for how happy it made S. 50+ lbs of dancing 6 year old is not an easy load lol

We had dsās baptism today. It was perfect weather, even a hair hot, but I am exhausted from hosting 30 people for lunch and my ILs all weekend. My big girls are swimming right now and then will crash hard when they return. Dd3 fell asleep at 430 and was a nightmare when I woke her for dinner. I ended up getting her to pee and then I sent her back to bed. Can I just brag in her a bit?? She has been dry at night for two weeks. My 2 1/2 yo is wearing undies to bed now. My 4 1/2 yo doesnāt have any idea how to do this, but Iām thrilled to be 50% done with diapers. 2 kids down, 2 to go...
