Off topic, but the travel ban was upheld. I hate Mitch McConnell for blocking Garland's nomination. I saw that. Two things: anyone seen the speculation that DeVos' family stands to benefit financially from taking these kids and adopting them out? They are being placed with Bethany Services, and her husband is in the board. They can get up to $50,000 per child. And it looks like there is some shitty precedent because yesterday a MO court upheld the adoption of a Guatemalan child who was given to an American family because they ruled the mother abandoned him when she was taken into custody by ICE. This is state sponsored kidnapping. |

This is state sponsored kidnapping. SO corrupt that devos's BIL runs the Michigan one. Definitely getting $$ to take in kids and going to adopt them out. A few days ago I was wanting to support the foster places, but now I'm hesitant. The one in Baltimore clearly states how many kids they have and how to oppose kids being separated, but I'm still squirmish about it. And mh mentioned a story about kids being adopted out, but I think it wasn't from Guatemala. The judge was like tough, not your kid anymore and no recourse for the parent. How is this ok?! I get that some kids may be smuggled or in dangerous situations that would require being separated, but most are not, especially these that were separated. Sad state of affairs. |

This can be the dumpster fire thread... So roe v. Wade will almost certainly be overturned, so long for the freedom of choice 😔.
