I got an email today...when I had my surgery a few months ago MH and I missed a required training that we HAVE to have. There are two sessions left and we have to go to one of them. One is in Little Rock, AR next Wednesday and the other is next Friday in Omaha, NE. All supervisors are required to have this. What might you ask is the required training...Civil Treatment for Leaders. They are going to teach us about being civil to people. I work for the govt...the govt is requiring this....but I think there is another govt “leader” that could really use this training.

tgrimes we told LO when my parents put their dog down that he was really sick and was going to join his great grandparents in heaven. That it's okay to be sad but to remember the good times. He sometimes still asks questions but he "gets" it as best as a 3/4 year old could.

inthekitty Nothing like a move to make you want to purge! One thing we did before our last move was to ditch all the plastic cases and condense our DVDs into binders. So much easier to move, store, and see what you have. Maybe that would be a compromise if your H balks at getting rid of them.

Hope S's sleep study goes well this week! I know right! Luckily MH’s truck will be covered under warranty as it’s only 2 years old. And he’s out of town this week for work (and drove his work vehicle). But my Jeep is 7 years old and has no warranty anymore. |

They took her to out an IV/catheter thing in. Brought her back and we noticed it had come out.
WTF.
They’re putting it back in now.

tgrimes I had to put down FIL's chihuahua and Dude was really attached to her. We told him she was hurting and very sick, and the kind thing to do was take her to the doctor so she wasn't in pain anymore. We tell him when someone dies that they are gone forever and that doesn't bother him. Sometimes he talks about how he misses her and how we took her to the doctor to help her die. Just very matter of fact.

tgrimes we went the heaven route. She understands that you don't get to come back from heaven. When someone gets very sick, if the doctor can't make them better, then they go to heaven. We dealt with questions on when would she get to go to heaven and does everyone go to heaven. She even asked this past weekend if I would bring flowers to her if she goes to heaven. Luckily, I was already crying, so she didn't see how upset it made me. Just let her lead the conversation. Don't over think it. She may or may not ask questions.

Oh Lord tgrimes I'm so sorry. I'm sure you've talked with M by now, but we did similar to PP's and used it as an opportunity to talk about death and the difficult feelings around death. When it comes to heaven, we usually say something like "No one really knows what happens when you die, but some people believe..." We also read them that Rainbow Bridge story. I will say going to get the memorial statue was a nice way to get closure. Now when they see it out in the yard they can revisit happy memories or sadness around missing our dog. Not sure if any of that is helpful. So many hugs to you and the family. |
