tgrimes I'll be the outlier here and say that since you're going to the wedding, I'd think that it's be easier to 'meet' her while there is the distraction of the shower. IMO It'd be more awkward to meet up at a later date just the two of you. It's like ripping off a band aid, you've got to do it at one point or another and I would choose to do it with the busyness of the shower. Is the shower a family thing? Can M go and then they can meet?

Baby Bea and I had a decent first night home. My nips are shot from the cluster feeding though, so I had to actually pump an ounce of colostrum last night to bottle feed her with. Luckily, she passed out for a few hours and gave them a break. Between sore nips, stitches and after birth cramps I am still in rough shape. Forcing myself to rest and recover today.
The kids are absolutely glued to her. They constantly want to hold her and rarely let her out of their sights. My son said he thinks he was born to love babies and Evie drags her sleeping bag to whatever room Bea is in so she can camp out nearby. I think Theo is just trying to figure it all out. He told my H "Baby eat Mama tummy" when he saw me breastfeeding her 😂

Yay!!!! Congrats chrisy01! I can't wait to see Baby E. How are you feeling? Super tired. I've been up for 29 hours. E just wants to be held or on the boob so until my parents get here at 11ish LT for solidarity. Hopefully you can get a little break and some rest when the P's show up! |

dapostrophe, you're kids are so sweet!! Also, I've gone back to look multiple times, that pic you posted of your oldest holding the baby and all the rest of the kids looking down at her is amazing. You must frame that one. The love literally pops off the picture it's so intense there.

Morning all. I'm at work finishing up my performance agreement, the it's off to a work team building picnic that is a 'recommended' that everyone attend. Where we have to either pay to have lunch delivered to the location or bring our own...lol to team functions as a govt employee. So my work week from hell continues...
But, the upside is that I'll be checking out the food truck menus shortly. Please stay tuned to help me decide.

tgrimes, i was going to suggest skipping the shower also, but then when you said M was in the wedding I think you might want to go and get that kind of thing over with. Maybe you don't stay the whole time?

I booked my Chicago trip. dapostrophe - we are arriving mid afternoon on Friday the 17th and leaving on Monday the 20th. We are staying at the Palmer House which seems to be pretty centrally located. We have family dinner on the 18th and the wedding the afternoon of the 19th, so if you are free on the 18th during the day, I was thinking of going to the children's museum at Navy Pier, then playing at the pier, or on the 19th in the morning of hitting up Maggie Daley Park which looks to be walking distance from our hotel. Or if you have any other recommendations for being in town for such a short time, I'm all ears! Obviously you are a bit occupied now, but I wanted to mention it in case I forgot. Also, if there is anyone else local that I can't remember - or snoopmommymom will we overlap? There will be very few young kids at the wedding that I know of (my cousin's have a 6 year old and everyone else is 12 +) so I'm going to try to make sure the kids have a lot of fun things to do surrounding the events!! |

Morning! Congrats chrisy01!! Welcome to the world baby E! I hope you get rest soon. tgrimes, I'm with vino. I think it's good to meet her now, but not to stay for whole the shower. If she will be there early, I would try to make an early appearance to meet her briefly, then head out before the majority of guests get there. If she won't be there early, maybe try to meet her for breakfast/brunch one day. |

Hi all, another sick day. This little fever just won't quit! Her bottom canines are so close so I wonder if it's that on top of a nasty cold, it's just hovering around 99.5-100, which I know isn't a fever but I always feel crappy with a 99 temp so I figure they do too, plus daycare thermometers are always more sensitive than home ones, so she'd surely be sent home. She just dozed off while eating lunch, so hoping she naps for a while..
