We are fucked... Ford is going to set this province back 50 yrs... Reopen the abortion debate, change the sex ed curriculum, and destroy schools & healthcare. The best parts of the health curriculum are things I can and will teach even if they repeal it: consent and LGBTQIA. No one can stop me from teaching my students to ask for something first and stop if the other person says no. I don't have to teach sexual consent to get that message across. And no one can stop me from weaving the LGBTQIA community into my daily teaching. I don't need to and shouldn't limit those discussions to health class. This. I grew up in an abstinence only education system. Our highschool bio teacher hated that. So she got all the bio teacher together to make us do a group project on infectioys diseases. So all kids who took bio did that. 3 out of 4 diseases were STDs. It was the science departments way of teaching us something and because it was a group project we inadvertently talked a lot about sex.

I have to teach a unit on human organ systems so I'll just go ahead and add the reproductive system to my list if this government actually repeals the health curriculum. 👍

Our province has barely begun recovering from the Mike Harris years. I'm scared for what the next four years will hold for my career in education.

Oh my god are you in the political action group for our federation? Tell me you are witnessing this INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING CONVERSATION full of white people dismissing the concerns of people of colour. Oh. My. God. The privilege is mind blowing.

I am embarrassed by some of the viewpoints being shared and supported on the political action FB group. Someone said something about privilege and a white teacher got all up in her feelings about being "personally attacked". I just. What. And then dismissed the feelings of the black community by saying it's "a few bad cops" who have given law enforcement a bad name. Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I'm now the only one arguing my side because everyone else gave up and it's becoming a circle jerk of privileged folks patting each other on the back. I need our fed reps to come in and shut it all down.

Basically POC tag them into threads where white people are being ignorant so they can be rounded up and POC don't have to constantly defend themselves.

It's really unfortunate that this even has to exist, but I kind of love that it does.

Omg majority government. Who are all these people that voted for the PCs? Pretty sure they're some combination of: straight white cisgender wealthy 50+ male I think we'd be surprised by the people who voted for him. Lots of lower income families think he's going to be the savior of the working class. This election highlights how poor our education system is. We are not teaching critical thinking skills, this should be our priority.

My co-worker voted for him , she is a white woman, in her early 50's of eastern european descent, she voted him so he could make things more efficient, and give us that tax break.... We normally don't talk politics at work, and that was the only thing she said, before she mumbled something about not getting in to politics and walked back to her office.

Fucking wealthy xenophobic GTA suburbanites. People who knew EXACTLY what they were doing: voting for their own self-interests.

Brampton has a very large immigrant working class population, as does Whitby and Ajax. North Etobicoke isn't the Old White Boys club it used to be. I do think sexism and homophobia played a huge role in this election. The PC leadership race would have been different if Doug had male opponents. Had the Liberals or NDP had white cis men at the helm the election would have been different. It will be interesting to see what happens at the federal level with Singh now leading the NDP party.

I'm not a Singh fan. I will not vote for someone who will not condemn the terrorists behind the Air India bombing. I have been disappointed by the federal NDP in many ways since Jack Layton's unfortunate passing.

Oh, this is where I was supposed to be. MH usually votes PC and didn’t this election and I am proud of him for seeing the light.
My community went against the grain, like most university towns.
I’m not surprised by the outcome (Trump is president, after all), but I’m so deeply disappointed.
