The only things I will eat with mayo are the Turkey Bacon Bravo at Panera and the dipping sauce from Raising Cane's. Keep any mayo-based salads away from me.

I've changed my mind. I'm Polish and I want that Polish wedding if I get married again.
Except for the Catholic part.....I'll have to find a way around that.

I am having the best day. I met BFF and her kids for a play date this morning and let DD run herself silly at the park. We got home and she fell right asleep, so I cleaned the entire downstairs and now I get to just chill until she wakes up. After that we're going to the library so I can figure out the e-book thing and then home to make dinner.
I mean, ask me again in a month, but I could really get used to this SAHM life and it's making it hard to apply for jobs.
But then I look at my bank account and get motivated again.

Bubblegum, my vision would be to get married with little fuss and no arguments. Beyond that IDGAF, which is probably why after 13 years together we are still not married.

Every time wedding discussions come up I think about how much every one here would have hated or not attended our wedding.
We had a destination wedding on a weekday in December.
There was an open bar, amazing food and an open bar after party though.

If you're a close friend I guarantee I'll have fun at your wedding whether you can provide booze or not. I would never judge because my close friends are all super awesome people who I love being around.
But some of the stories people share here from weddings do sound awful so I think I've also been lucky in my experiences.

Pretty sure my uncle was serving drinks out of the back of his truck in the parking lot lol. Change the family member title and add in groomsmen and that’s every dry wedding I have been too.

I never understood having a giant full buffet cocktail hour followed directly by a 3 course meal. Like why the need for both? Because we’re Italian and we use any event as an excuse to consume 6,000 calories. Don’t judge me, Emma. Just let me eat.

This will probably get flamed, I know people can choose to spend their money how they want. However. If you have a cash bar I will side eye your super expensive flowers/live band/etc. Yeah, but if you don't really drink yourself, I don't see why you would spend money on a cash bar. Well you do it because the majority of the guests drink-- or that was my case anyway. I had a half glass of wine at my wedding reception, and one swallow of champagne. I am not a drinker. The ceremony is for the B and G. The reception is for the guests. I am probably sounding more rant-y than I need to but I was just engaged for 19 months as woman in her late 30s so we could make sure we paid for everything our guests ate and drank. (I needed the time to save up) Wedding receptions are not mandatory-- they are nice, and they are fun, but it was essentially my own choice to have one. No one else should have to help me cater my own party. I would have been just as married had we gone to city hall. JMO, I know it's pretty unpopular and I know there are a lot of regional norms that are different from mine.

adelbert that’s so exciting. Is it beach weather in Jan? That’s another place I plan imaginary trips to but I always question if it’s warm enough in the winter. I would love to hear all your plans so I can get in MH’s ear about it. Our anniversary is the 15th of December and we have ski holidays in March so our goal is to go between Jan and March. From what I've read there is no "bad" time. They don't have any tropical storms or anything like that but they do have more rain in December/Jan so we'll probably do Feb. The weather is pretty much always 75-85 degrees and the water is also warm. Reliable weather is one of the reasons we're considering it. I won't need a tour operator for this trip but I've been drooling over all the family trips I want to take from the Scottdunn website all day. Just need the youngest to be 1 year older so that flying isn't such a hassle. Ohhhhh I would want to go in February too. I will need you to send me all your itineraries so I can just copy you. Thanks.

I really wanted to have a second wedding in Poland. But I couldn't get around the church portion. I really wanted Polish dancers at our wedding but H vetoed it ( he's the Polish one). Instead we settled for several drunken verses of Sto Lat. Now I'm trying to convince my boys to take up Polish dancing and I'm trying to find a little Polish dress and headband for DD.

Also, three courses is too small for an Italian wedding, minimum of five. AND. At the end of the night we had passed sliders, mac and cheese and other drunk food as people were walking off the dance floor. Then a boardwalk buffet as they were leaving (salt water taffy, caramel corn, etc.). There must be food served AT ALL TIMES. MH’s side of the family nearly died when they came to my kid’s Christening a few weeks ago. They were almost mad at the excess of food.

I was just saying that I could see why a couple would choose to spend money on other things--like flowers--instead of an open bar.

We had a low-key, low-stress, low-budget wedding after being together for 11 years, so it can be what you make of it, if you want.

Sorry to have started the whole wedding thing again. I had fun, even with the cash bar. My kids danced until way past their bedtimes. I listened to my aunt gossip about all of the family members I rarely see. And my uncles bought me drinks.
I do think a heads up on the cash bar would have been nice, but it worked out.

I lived with my H for years and had no plans of getting married. When he proposed, my first words were “why are you doing this right now?” So, I had zero vision of my wedding. I thought we could just go on a trip and come back married. But MH’s family lives all over the world and weddings are a way everyone gets together. So we had a wedding, which snowballed into the most OTT wedding. I may have been asked if I wanted to be on Platinum Weddings by my wedding planner. But, I looked at it like I was throwing the best party of my life and that’s where I spent money, things that made the weekend stress-free for my guests: food, drink, transportation, welcome kits, pre and post-parties, band, etc.
All of my vendors said I was the most easy bride they ever worked with. I had no stress about stuff because I didn’t care what my flowers looked like or what kind of chairs I had. Are my friends and family dancing and eating? We’re good.
Ok time to get a root canal.

Finishing up pizza buffet for lunch and headed out to finish my last 2 mowing jobs for the day. I can’t wait to get home and get a shower. I think tomorrow will be laundry day and straightening up around the house so I can feel less bad about taking a few lazy days later in the week.

I have weekend hangover of the best variety. I seriously had one of the best weekends in a very, very long time. Back to the grind of work and it’s going to be a tough week. But at least I have my happy weekend thoughts to carry me through. Sounds wonderful! I hope you get another weekend like that soon.
