The school district I just left disabled my email 24 hours after the last school day.
So now the helicopter parents are tracking me down via facebook. Good grief.

It’s my birthday and I had my favourite cookie sandwich from the local bakery. It was delicious. Made up for my cranky kids. Now nursing the baby and waiting for my husband to come home. He quickly stopped by my parents for supper and then ran off to work again. Happy birthday!

I refuse to friend student’s parents on fb. Current or past. I’d ignore and they can call the school. That’s the schools problem now.

I had my first co op meeting of the year. Thankfully the questions and comments were contained. It was really funny to see how everyone pretty much dresses the same now that I have a little distance with a kid in public school where that is not the case.

I have two former parents on FB and they only made the cut because they were also paras in the building and therefore coworkers. I did not accept requests from them until after their kids moved on from my class though.

I don’t check my email when I’m not on contract, I sure as hell am not responding to some FB bullshit for a district I no longer work for. Fuck that. ETA: just finished the thread. I’d still ignore. I thought they wanted to complain about grades, because that’s what my students and parents would do.

That's not so horrible, but once you are not a staff member they need to not be up in your inbox. As a parent I do have some respect for what the teacher is being paid to do and try to gauge my contact by whether I would be ok not being paid to respond to whatever question I had in their off time.

I need to go to sleep but instead I’m about to throw down on our local Facebook page over someone trying to rehome their two unfixed seven year old dogs because they just had a baby. Oh and the rehoming fee is $300 each.

Just kids who aren't mature enough for the internet engaging in fuckery.

Oh and the rehoming fee is $300 each. Does it include a ton of food or gear? I automatically side eye a not fixed animal that isn't used for breeding or is being rehomed for a baby. I know the responsible agencies say you should ask for a fee so nothing bad happens, but $300 is optimistic.

My mom posted what she thinks is a funny thing on FB for her 10 friends about kids moving out after graduation. I moved to go to college at 18 and never spent more than summer home after that and left by the fall after graduation not because of some amazing feat she did so I'm laughing at her patting her back. Its funny to me because she and all her friends are so removed from the situation they have no idea what it is like for college grads now. I should go move back in with her to wreck her FB right?

We have two dogs at the rescue that are 8 and 10 and “no longer get enough attention since the human babies came” and the family is moving and took them to the vet to put them to sleep. The vet refused. Thank goodness.

I imagine all agencies would say get them fixed and then ask for $100 each unless you had all the toys and beds. Selling an unfixed animal unless to breed makes no sense and that would not be a rehoming fee but a sale.

We charge $200 - $300, but the dogs are fixed (99% of the time the rescue does that) and up to date on vaccines. Please we’ve been feeding them and taking them to the vet for as long as they are with us.

I see a lot of ones that get deleted in a day because someone bought a dog and can't keep it and wants to recoup their cost. I've seen a lot of elderly pets find home after owners passed Or after families take a stray or neighbor's and those seem to be the quickest to find homes.

Also, that principal sucks but I’m not surprised. We rarely have any senior failures. They have to try really hard not to pass.

That's pretty excessive for missionaries. Meh, my cousin served a Mormon mission and talked about doing things like this (specifically covering doors with sticky notes). She called it a "heart attack." I would assume these girls were ultimately well intentioned even if they missed the mark. I'd be weirded out too. Also sounds like a huge waste of paper and creation of waste. Wtf. Can you recycle post its?

I think getting pets in general is a huge decision that can be taken too lightly sometimes. Hence why I roll my eyes at people who tell me to get a dog or cat, it's no big deal, I should have one. It's not buying a bicycle. It's a huge long term commitment. Ofc if rehoming is to keep kids safe, I get that.

Mostly because when DD was diagnosed this winter, our dog was less than a year old. DD and I lived at the hospital for nearly three months, with a week or two off. Rehoming wasn't an option for us. We did a lot of doggie daycare, boarding (on weekends), family help and dog walking. DH was home in the evenings. I mean if another family went through our situation, I wouldn't judge for rehoming--because it was mentally tough and exhausting. However just because a baby is arriving--get the hell out.
