I can tell more of us are back to work, 9:40 and no one has started a randoms thread yet!
I just booked our flights to Florida for November... Southwest opened up their November flights and we were able to get nonstop flights at reasonable times for $280/person. We are spending a week on Sanibel Island with my parents, it will be Faith's first trip to the beach!

aprilz81, that trip sounds amazing! We are driving north 12 hours to Chicago for Christmas so we are doing the opposite. I'm getting nervous about my flight next week to go see my parents. When we used to fly with DD1 it was always DH and me tag teaming. Now it's me alone and all the way across the country. I am thinking about just wearing her in the airport instead of trying to figure out a stroller and car seat and getting them plane side checked. But my layover on the way out there is 2 hours so I hope I don't regret not having somewhere to put her down. I may bring a boppy so I can at least prop her on something if I sit down at the gate.

Good morning ladies! I have gotten a lot done already today. We had breakfast, I showered, I dropped my car off at the mechanics, walked home, did a load of laundry and I am working on potty training with G. We started the potty training yesterday and it’s going nowhere. If she doesn’t pee on the potty at all today, I am going to stop and try again in a month or two. No reason to keep going if she isn’t ready. Tonight I am ordering pizza for dinner and then going to work when MH gets home. I am waiting to hear what needs to be done to my car to get the check engine light to turn off. Then when it’s done being fixed, I will have to walk with both kids to pick it up. I am going to get a serious amount of walking in today.

We are trying to get DD more comfortable with taking a bottle. Monday she did fine with me, but yesterday all she did was scream with my husband. Then I took her and she did drink it, but she kept stopping and doing this gulping/gasping thing like she couldn’t breath or it was taking her breathe away. She seems to do that with almost every bottle like we are drowning her almost. I’m not sure what’s going on. We are using the meddle bottles with the 0-3 months nipples. I don’t know if it’s the flow or maybe the temperature. I did warm the bottle up but maybe it was still cold any ideas?

Hi!
Ugh. I'm so tired adding work to the mix. I don't like it!
It did not take long to get into the swing of things, though. Forgot bottles yesterday but that won't be forgotten again!
Now, to just get through November... My masters program is done in 6 months!!!

tiffbabey, are you putting her in a position where she is basically sitting up? Instead of lying? And keeping the bottle more parallel to the ground rather than perpendicular? Just some things I know my DH focuses on to try to pace her feedings!

tiffbabey, also....do you release pressure after you warm the bottle? Just unscrew top and screw it back on.

I'm still thinking through the logistics, but we will be bringing an umbrella stroller for sure. She will be a lap baby and since I'm traveling with my parents we can pass her around as needed to keep her entertained. Fortunately our flights are non stop and only about 2 hrs and 15 minutes of actual flight time so it shouldn't be too bad. I'm thinking of going ahead and buying our convertible car seat a little early and keeping it in the box and checking it (hoping the box will keep it protected). That will keep us from having to take a base out of our car and then trying to check/gate check our infant car seat and click n go stroller. If those gets damaged we are in real trouble at our destination and when we get home. I want a stroller available (even if she isn't in it) to help wrangle stuff in the airport. The diaper bag will be my personal item, DH will have a backpack and I will pack a rolling carry on with some essentials (change of clothes for all of us, bathing suits, etc.). My Dad has limited mobility after a stroke and the stroller will help serve as a pack mule so we can also help my mom with her stuff and making sure Dad doesn't get run over in the crowds. Between Dad needing more time boarding and us being able to board early traveling with a baby (at least one of us if they strictly enforce the one parent per child for pre-boarding) we will easily be able to pick seats next to one another to make everything easier. I'm really looking forward to the vacation and I'm tickled pink at the price of our tickets. We are splitting the cost of the condo and rental car (van) with my parents, so we should be spending just under $2,000 for 7 nights at the beach!

tiffbabey, DS had similar issues. First, the bottles were too cold and he would take forever to finish. Then, the flow was too fast. He would do this high pitched gasp. The daycare ladies asked me if he had ever taken a bottle before because he was drowning with it and he had tons of leaking from his mouth. We switched to a preemie nipple and that seems to be the trick. I guess he's used to working hard at the breast.

tiffbabey, are you using medela bottles? Wasn't sure if it autocorrected above. If so, we always had issues with the flow being too fast on those nipples and have had better luck with both girls using Dr. Browns size 1 nipples.

I forget some babies like warmed bottles. Both my kids drink/drank room temperature or cold bottles (strictly FF)

My girls will ONLY drink warmed bottles. 🙄
My big isn’t feeling well and had some yucky diapers. She must be able to sense that we have to go to my MIL’s retirement party. She’s barely ever sick unless we have plans. How do kids sense that?! Hopefully she feels better.
I can’t believe tomorrow is already June!

I also tried the spectra ones and she was doing it for that one too. I will have to try other bottles I guess.

Dd2 is happy as can be laying flat on a blanket for a little bit to kick and squirm around and chew on her toys.

So I'm planning an anniversary trip. We're going to spend 2 days on Cape Cod and then go see family in MA/NH for 2 days. I'm really excited. Plus we have family in Martha's Vineyard so I'm hoping we can take the ferry out to see them too!
Has anyone ever been to Cape Cod?

We’re actually going for our annual vacation in July. MH has lots of family there and his dad actually grew up in Falmouth. Where abouts are you looking?

Both my boys will only take a bottle of breastmilk staright from the fridge. I never got in the habit of heating them so that if daycare didn’t they didn’t have a hard time.
I’m sitting waiting to get my last blood draw done hopefully for my thyroid and it’s takkng forever. I was hoping to go shopping for a little bit before headed home but doesn’t look like it now.

The baby only napped for 20 minutes and then an hour. Of course now he passed out and is sleeping great but it’s two hours before bedtime which means I’m going to be screwed later.

aprilz81, congrats on booking a trip! I’d def want a stroller too, but just note than an umbrella stroller won’t have much room to hold anything and will tip over with things hung on the handles. A regular stroller might be better for your situation. We are plugging away with DS1’s treatments. Monday is surgery and I’m getting so anxious about it. Ugh. On a happy note, DS2 is now in his crib and it went 100000xs better than I expected. We waited until 6 months with DS1 so that was the plan again, but he was flipping over in his RNP and fussing the rest of the night in bed with me. He’s done 2 nights in his crib and has slept the longest stretches he ever has!!! He’s sleeping on his belly since he rolls there himself. I’m so happy!! I did nap in the crib this morning and he slept for 45 mins after just a few minutes of crying.

We're definitely going so now we have to hammer out details!

Can’t go wrong!

I flew a ton with DS1. I used a combi lightweight stroller and it was great. We gate checked that and the bucket seat which we installed without the base. I wore him in the airport mostly. With extra hands and a pre mobile baby flying is pretty easy imo.

J had his 4 month appointment today.
He is such a big boy! 17 pounds and 3.5 ounces. He is 26” long.
Unfortunately his a cough/congestion hasn’t gone away. His pedi said his lungs sound good and he doesn’t have an ear infection. She said he may have some bacterial “gunk” and prescribed an antibiotic.
My soon to be 5 year old has never been on antibiotics- this is a new world for me.

sunfrogger Sept is the best time to go to the cape imo. I was in Chatham a few years ago for a bachelorette in Sept and it was perfection. Chatham is a really cute town. Provincetown is also great. You can take the ferry from Hyannis to Martha's vineyard easily but it gets expensive if you need to bring a car. Check flights from Hyannis airport it is often cheaper to fly. We have family on Nantucket but I assume it's the same for MV.

We also had the 4 mo appt today. 19lbs 3oz. Woof. 97%. Height is 93% and head is significantly off the charts. He's already in 6-9 and 6-12 clothing and he just outgrew his 12 mo zutano booties.
I have wasted so much $$ on clothing this kid won't even get to wear and the seasons of everything I have bought are way off!
Vent over.
