I had all 4 of mine taken out at once. The recovery started out okay but they forgot to give me the syringe to rinse my mouth with. I ended up with dry sockets on the bottom and those hurt like hell. Just make sure you rinse very, very well every time you eat.

I got all four of my impacted teeth out when I was 19. I got dry socket in two of the holes, even though I was really careful, so I second the idea that if the pain only gets worse, then go back in. I waited two days after the excruciating pain started (Vicodin didn’t even touch it) before calling in. Dry socket is no joke, I rate it second to my worst labor contractions. So call right away if it’s ever worse. The pain from the procedure itself was pretty minimal. Definitely follow their directions on stretching your jaw back out too. I didn’t since dry socket was enough to deal with so when I went back they stretched it for me and omg.
Almost everyone else I know has had a significant better and easier experience than me though, there’s that! Lol.

I knew something was wrong and when I went in they asked me why I hadn’t been cleaning out the wounds. I was all “you never gave me instructions to or a tool to clean them with”. They felt pretty dumb.

I....did not get a syringe or stretching instructions. Me neither. But mine were removed in 1994, so maybe they know more things now?

Good luck with your extraction. I have all 4 wisdom teeth. I’ve never had an issue with any of them (been there for almost 20 years). My dentist said there are some folks that have enough room on their mouths to keep all 4. So, I literally have a big mouth, although it is hard to floss way back there.

I got a syringe and a paper with instructions but no stretching instructions. I also realize my situation is not the norm because it sounds like most people just get them all removed, whereas this surgeon will only do them if they cause problems (this one partially cut and was causing pain). I also never had them pop up on x-rays until my 20s.

All 4 of mine were removed under general. I swelled up And bruised like a chipmunk and look like I had been beat up. I was in grade 12. I begged my mom to let me stay home for a week. She let me for 3 days. It was awful. Everything hurt. It took me almost 2 weeks to be back to normal. My bf (now husband) had his done a week after me and was out drinking with his buddies the next day. Minimal swelling and bruising.

I didn’t get stretching instructions but I do remember being freaked out that I couldn’t open my jaw competely. It wasn’t painful it just wouldn’t open. I never thought I’d be back to normal lol but don’t worry, it goes back.

I had all 4 of mine out in high school, over the summer between junior and senior year. I didn’t get a syringe or anything. But I had stitches in my gums. I remember eating potato chips a few days later and didn’t have any swelling or anything. The annoying thing I remember was that my stitches started to come out before they dissolved.

I....did not get a syringe or stretching instructions. Me neither. They just told me to swish water around and spit it out (but not teal spit, just let it run out of my mouth) the first day to help with the bleeding.

Well, I see I'm not the norm thank goodness, but I had all 4 out when I was 21 and it was worse than my C section. By far. I've had a fair share of surgeries and the wisdom teeth were the most painful recovery.
