Charlie won't nap today. I really really really needed that time. Eta: should speak up on this more often, he's down.

Hello hello! Went to Starbucks and Joann fabrics with my errand buddy this morning. It's such a beautiful day and I am loving it. I have an appointment at 3 to check on baby, but other than that not much going on and I'm ok with it. Just found out our couch is going to be delayed another week, which I'm not thrilled about but oh well.

wineallthetime Gunner recently went through a phase where everything was chicken... like he added the word on to sentences ever when it didn’t make sense. And also called people chicken. So weird. tgrimes Way to go M! That’s awesome! Feels good to get them water safe! Congrats nam2013!! And Happy Anniversary! lahdeedah Sorry you’re still dealing with being sick... hopefully they will give you something. You’d think they would if you have swollen nodes along with it!

Cadence calls all meat chicken, but that's about it.

wineallthetime, has someone else called him a chicken recently? perhaps at school? I'm guessing yes because he's really into calling A a chicken. But when he says it it seems to be a compliment? Haha who knows. I call my kids chickens as a term of endearment

There's a gymnastics place right by my house and they are doing a deal where you can buy a $99 unlimited pass for Parent's Night Out for the summer (every SAT 5:30-10:30). They have a limited number of passes and MH is going to see if there are any left. That would be a lot cheaper than a babysitter and we haven't found a quality one anyway. It would also encourage us to go out a lot more plus the girls would be worn out and ready for bed. Does anyone here play Nintendo Switch? I'm having so much fun with mine. I love that it can be used as a handheld. I'm kicking ass on Mario Odyssey.

Left with a positive strep test and antibiotics. I’m kind of annoyed because this is exactly why I went to get seen Monday hoping I could get something before it manifested, but whatever. I’m off work tomorrow so at least I get to chill on the couch and catch up on my DVR. #silverlinings

nam2013 sounds like a great day. inthekitty I need that gymnastics pass. Ours is $45 for one time plus I can’t send the baby so I would still need a sitter. My street is still a mess of construction. H and I had to pass kids over wet concrete to get them to school. When the workers broke for lunch, I got out with C to the mall for a bunch of stuff I needed. Now we are at DS’s appointment. We are bringing pizza home then heading to T’s tball game.

I was reading through the UO and some of it is interesting today. But I was laughing that talking about helping kids with homework came up. A long time ago when someone else mentioned something about helping their high schooler with an essay on Parenting I responded that the notion of proof-reading a high schooler's essay surprised me and I didn't plan to do it with my kid. I was met with a lot of "Oh, how awful to help kids with their HW" sarcastic remarks. I further explained that there was no one in my house to help me with HW at that point, but that it also seemed like an unfair advantage to have mom or dad correct the mistakes that the kid should learn from and be marked down for. I was still met with negativity.
Today a bunch of people were talking about how kids are not being prepared for the real world because their parents helicopter too much and also specifically in regards to helping with HW too much. I eye-rolled a lot. I would have commented over there to be petty and ready to point this out but the conversation had already moved on. So I'm being petty over here. I like participating on GD but whenever they vehemently deny that they can be clique-ish and will go after their own as much as an outsider I think the lack of insight is strong. I'm not mad about this, just very much eye-rolling. Since the comment was made by one of their frequent posters they are very much on board and not twisting words.

Yes, the gymnastics pass is great. A one-time fee for Parent's Night Out is $30 for early sign-up and $35 for late sign up. So basically we go out 3 times and we've made our money back. It's such a long chunk of time that we could even go a little further out for an event or out to the movies. Or go home and enjoy some peace and quiet as well as uninterrupted sexy time. Maddie could stay up all night if we let her but Cass is usually ready to pass out by 9:30, but that still gives us plenty of time. Fingers crossed we get passes!

I’m sorry lahdeedah. I was going to ask if they sent a strep culture. I hope it clears soon. Adult strep sucks.

I had a super hectic day at work but we had a work outing this afternoon to see the Ruth Bader Ginsburg documentary. It was really good and so nice to go to the movies during the work day. Now I’m getting a pedicure and Dh is picking up C tonight. Tomorrow Dh and I took the day off together. I think we are going shopping at the outlets.

Also I’ve been having unexplained low blood sugars the last few days. I just got an ultra caramel frappacino and it was so good but my stomach is not thrilled. Plus I probably drank 300 calories😞 (I didn’t finish it. The drink is probably 400)

Hi! It’s officially the last day of school for all the boys! Ry got of super early so we went to Einstein’s bagels for lunch and then made cupcakes, and I took a short nap with C.
Thanks again for talking me down yesterday. After everything we went through with Lucas in the early years, any hint of a problem with the kids makes me spiral hard. I’m lucky to have you guys to help pull me out.
