It's been such a Monday so far today. Hoping this slightly larger than I usually drink while pregnant cup of coffee turns the day around!

DS still wasn't doing well and I wound up taking him to urgent care on Sat. Just a nasty, flu-like virus. We had two rough nights of restlessness and fever-checking and dosing meds, and then I was quite sick yesterday too. It was pretty awful. The coughing really hurt all of the already strained ligaments in my low abdomen 😣 DS's fever has stayed low-grade without meds since yesterday afternoon, so hopefully the worst of it is over. I'm feeling better today than yesterday for sure, but still not great. Baby seems to be handling everything fine - movement has been strong and regular. Luckily we don't have much going on this week, so we can keep resting.

I don't want to be limited to Tapatalk all day!!

Random thought I had the other day: at what age did you or will you let your kid sleep with a blanket? Also what does your kid sleep in for pajamas? We still don't let DD (19 months) sleep with any blanket besides her little lovie and she's totally fine with it but wasn't sure what age is acceptable for sleeping with blankets. For pajamas we usually do a onesie under footed pajamas but I always see pajamas with a t shirt and pants. Wouldn't she be freezing in that?!

brenna - DS was 20 months yesterday and we just let him start sleeping with a blanket in the past week or 2. Occasionally he'd had one earlier for nap only when I could keep an eye on him the whole time but recently he decided he loved cuddling a blanket and had a complete meltdown when I tried to put him to bed without it. I decided I felt he was old enough to be ok with one now so I let him keep it. Now he looks for it every night. As for PJs, we still put him in footed zip up PJs and as long as I can buy them in his size that's probably what I'll stick with. Unless we get to night time potty training before sizing out of them, which is very possible considering he's a small kid. He's learned to stick his hand down his diaper so as long as I can prevent that from happening I will, which means 1 piece PJs and onesies during the day.

brenna I've been using the separate top and bottoms jammies for DS since around 12 months. Long sleeves/pants with socks and a thicker cotton sleep sack for winter, and usually short sleeves/pants without socks and a thinner muslin cotton sleep sack for summer. I started letting him sleep with a muslin swaddle blanket to cuddle with maybe 4 or 5 months ago. And just this season as it's started getting warmer I've started covering him with a muslin swaddle blanket at night instead of the sleepsack. I don't think I'm going to get him another sleep sack for this summer. He just turned 2. He's slept with a blanket covering him for naps for a long time because I was always watching the monitor. And I wanted the sleep sack to be a bedtime only thing!

DD started using blankets during naps at daycare when she turned one, which was in June 2013. At home, since our house was built in the 1950s and has no insulation besides blown insulation in the ceilings, her room was hot in the summer so she didn't need a blanket and wore PJs that were shirts and shorts. Once it started getting cool again, Oct/Nov '13, she wore fleece footed PJs and we let her use a blanket from then on.

She still didn't use a pillow until she transitioned to her toddler bed at 3yo, when she was night potty trained and would need to go when she woke up in the mornings. I was living that contained crib life as long as possible.

ftwr we're hoping to live the crib life as long as possible here too! That's the ONE reason I've considered still continuing with a new sleep sack for this summer - it helps contain his legs so he's less likely to try to figure out how to climb out! He has never tried or even seemed interested so far, but this morning he was standing in there with one heel streeeeeetched all the way up resting on the rail 😮 We'll see how much longer we have....

brennaDD wasn't a blanket/swaddle/sleep sack baby at all. She hated anything on her or that restrained her. I can't remember exactly when we gave her a blanket but we did put a muslin blanket inside her crib probably around 1-1.5? She never put it on her. She got her first real blanket this past December when she was 2.5 and barely uses it. I think we started using a flat pillow around 2 maybe? Possibly 1.5. I can't remember.

We are hoping DD stays in the crib forever! Haha a lot of people think we will transition her to a bed so new baby can use her crib, uh no I will gladly buy another crib before having a crazy toddler not contained at night!

We're team 2 cribs. **knock on wood** DS hasn't even tried to climb yet so I'm not pushing him to a bed yet.

She has gotten up on the railing but I think she's afraid to fall so she has never gotten all the way out.

My kid is a climber we moved him sometime after 18 months into the converted toddler bed. The transition was very easy and he does not roam his room at night. I do have a baby gate to keep him in there just for my own peace of mind.
I just wanted to throw out there that it was not a bad experience at all for us when we moved him out of the crib.

meggriffin that is good to hear. I'm literally terrified of the day we have to transition DD. I hope it goes as smoothly for us as it did for you when that day comes!

Haha, I may have been lucky- I would have kept him in there longer myself if he wasn’t such a climber. I was really worried about him hurting himself climbing out. Otherwise why change what’s working.

Maybe my kid is weird, but we've never had problems of her getting into trouble middle of the night. She will come into our bed but that's the most she does. I think she's afraid to be in the house alone in the dark. We haven't had any problems since we transitioned to her toddler bed. Though we are sleep training currently because I've basically put her to sleep for 3 years straight and it's about damn time. So far so good!

We have had to do a couple times after illness and our move but it was so so worth it. That's exactly what happened to us. The beginning of last year I finally gave in and did a gentle sleep training and it worked pretty well after about a week or two and then she came down with the norovirus and puked in her bed so she was traumatized! I just gave up at that point. I'm ready to have my evenings back.

Ugh. I ate oatmeal and greek yogurt and already feel full. I feel like I'm already running out of room for baby + organs. This does not bode well.

I'm so irritated. Target is sold out of all the nursery items I like with no word on when they'll be back in stock. I found something else I was really liking and ordered the sheets to see the colors in person. They arrived today and the print is super-cute...... But the sheets are 100% polyester? I wouldn't want polyester bedding. Why would I want that for my baby?! Polyester is not breathable! It never occurred to me that they would be anything other than cotton. So, now I'm back to nothing.

After an awful day today, I've been laying in bed trying to sleep for over four hours. I can't stop coughing and hacking. My throat is so sore. I can't get comfortable. When I try to lay down I almost immediately get some wicked heartburn. Trying to sleep propped up is not working. It's currently 3:20am.
This inevitably means that tomorrow is going to be yet another awful day ðŸ˜
