Anyone else's bottle fed baby getting super fussy with their bottle? We had this issue with DS, he never wanted to drink his formula but would happily pound back solids like it was his job. I hid a lot of formula in smoothies, oatmeal, yogurt. With DD2's suspected milk issue, I"m going to have to be super creative. DS1 did this from 9ish months until we got the OK to ditch the formula at his 1 year appt. We just increased the amount of solids (which I saw you are trying to hold off on because of the puking) and still offered formula with a faster nipple. Could you try a sippy cup instead of the bottle? Or go up to a faster flow nipple? They do make non-dairy yogurt you could use in smoothies or you could use fruit like bananas which are thicker with formula.

For smoothies I have reusable pouches and if they’re super thick I can attach a spoon onto the pouch. I tried real oatmeal today but I’m going to have to millet the oats so they create more of a paste in order to hide formula better.

Gave ds2 yogurt for the first time and no reaction! He wasn't thrilled about it being cold but he didn't break out in hives. Whew. He's had zero signs of a milk allergy but I'm always nervous now.

So we just had our 9 month, and apparently, the girls are getting too much formula (probably because they don’t live the purees). So am now re-reviewing this thread for suggestions. Apparently anything other than honey (or containing honey) or straight cow’s milk is good.
It still feels strange - DS had a milk protein issue, so we were more minutes early on (no foods with dairy, etc) until he hit 1 year and then we worked up to milk.
So far, the girls like mini blueberry muffins (so messy), blueberries, strawberries, peaches, peas, and rotisserie chicken. Tonight they will get eggs. Tomorrow night is salmon. But I guess i’m now packing food for them at school!! Yikes!!

I’m so impressed with all the foods your babies are eating! We are still with purees. He was gagging on puffs this weekend....

He doesn't really gag anymore at least. He ate two french fries and a sweet potato fry this weekend, I was shocked. He HATED scrambled eggs though. Texture is hard.

We just started real solids (not purees) a week or two ago, and from there she took off. I just make sure the pieces are small, but she loves everything. Including salmon, which DD1 won't touch.
She tried McDs French fries today and loved them. If she hadn't, I would have to wonder if she was switched at birth. 😂

But the girls are starting to reject them, so the dr suggested we move to table food. Very different than DS for sure!

I tried small bits of cucumber, green beans, and avocado last night. C started making this weird wheezy cough noise. I scooped everything out and he didn’t have hives - plus he’s had those foods before so I don’t think an allergy - but it was enough to scare me back to purees for a bit. I know they need to learn but I didn’t like that noise he was making even though he was acting fine.

We are going extra slow so we don’t cause E to get constipated. As if is we are staying away from apples, bananas, and carrots due to their tendency to bind people up.

Tonight’s dinner was scrambled eggs and blueberries. E was skeptical of the eggs. A seemed to enjoy them more.
Is it weird to send leftover eggs to school? They reheat them ...

I read somewhere that when they start gagging or coughing that it’s best to talk to them calmly and tell them that they are ok (often easier said than done!!). It’s worked for me a few times. Although what you’re describing sounds a little different.

We are still mostly purees but I give him tiny bites every now and then. He’s super interested in everything we eat so we will probably have to switch him soon.
Our issue is since he goes to bed at 6 we eat dinner after he goes to sleep. We will have to figure that one out.

Gave AJ a sweet potato fry tonight. His first taste of "real" food. He really liked it and did well! I want to keep giving him more but I'm scared to cause it's tough to keep an eye on him the entire time with a screaming picky toddler flailing around snuff9861 or clucky or anyone else have any advice? I've never had this problem before because ds1 was such a calm toddler so I could keep a watchful eye on ds2 when I gave him food

But yeah, this was a weird noise and it continued for a good while after dinner time.

We're still on purées only too. If you're doing actual solids, do your kids have teeth? Despite all the drool and chewing on her dummy, she still has only the bottom two so far so I've been hesitant to give her pieces.
She has now tried chicken and fish (cod and other white fish so far) and seemed to like it just fine.

Waffle, E only has the bottom front two teeth. She does pretty good eating things like strawberries and scrambled eggs. I’ve also started giving her bites of dinner (chicken and carrots the other night, spaghetti squash last night), but I end up feeding it to her usually.

N doesn't have any teeth but has no problem eating anything he decides he wants to eat. DS1 didn't get a tooth until 10 months and was eating table foods from 6 months on. Those little kid jaws are strong!

No teeth, eats tons of food.I think someone in here said that you mostly use your molars for chewing and babies don't get molars for ages, so they are fine with their hard ass gums! Let's see, DD loves scrambled eggs, will eat a whole one no problem. bethers, I'd totally sent that to daycare if I know my kid would like it and eat it 👍 she just picks up the chunks and stuffs then in her mouth. Yesterday she had: yogurt that I fed her, cherries in chunks I fed her (both of those just because I don't feel like her getting that messy at breakfast time), lunch was bits of rosemary ham, cheese and blackberries all that she ate herself. She has been going nuts for blackberries, she ate 10 the other day! Dinner was leftover potato salad, burger and tomato. She honestly doesn't really like the texture of ground beef, it makes her gag. She likes it better I give her a bite of beef, cheese and bun together! bethers etc, another good thing to send to daycare are little pancakes! Easy to freeze and reheat and easy for them to feed themselves.

H's teeth have pierced the surface but he's been getting regular food since he could sit unassisted. I gave him mango the other day and it was obvious that he took a proper bite out with his hard gums lol.

A new one for us was radishes last night, so surprised he ate and liked them. He's also been housing strawberries, grapes, and pineapple lately. This morning when I dropped him at MIL's he was grabbing the container with breakfast in it. MIL opened it up and he reached in grabbed a handful of "pancake" strips (just banana and egg) and shoved them in his mouth lol. That's one way to say you're ready for breakfast.
