cagoldi I want to send you all the wine and hugs...and a night nurse. Hang in there, friend. Blah. I feel okay today? But I know enough to recognize this could go sideways any minute. I'm sure I'm dealing with PPD again. I am going to see what my therapy options are this afternoon if Miss P ever lets me put her down. I'm sorry you're dealing with some volatile emotions and a nosy MIL. Hopefully she backs off after being told so directly.

This. We just have to sign a slip authorizing it. I'll have to see if that's an option. We don't get a lot of sun during the school year, but applying in the morning doesn't do anything for the rest of the day. Nope. Sunscreen is only good for 1.5-2 hours tops. My daycare will apply it in the afternoon but not in the morning. By the time they go outside in the morning it's way passed 2 hours! I have melanoma on both sides of the family people. I may have to sit down for a CTJ talk regarding sunscreen...

This is your forever house so I wouldn't want to short myself on anything important to me. If you want a basement I'd just talk to the ILs directly and say you're being charged for storage and the basement is holding up the rest of the house so you want to know when it will be done or if you should start talking to other contractors. I bet that'd light a fire under their ass. Logical me knows this, and we would never build without a basement. But I'm just so frustrated I'm willing to try anything at this point LOL. Honestly I'd just bring it up with them directly. If Alex has difficulty doing it I'd just state paying for storage is expensive and you want to take advantage of building during the summer with the good weather so you need to know when the basement will be finished so you can move on with the rest of the house. This is one of the reasons I'm always hesitant to have family or friends do any sort of major home projects. My husband kept wanting to FLY (yes, fly) one of his buddies out from Utah to do our flooring. He comes up with this shit and doesn't understand how insane it sounds and acts like I'm judgmental about his friends/family when I'm just on planet earth whereas he's somewhere off in space with these BS ideas. He insisted his friend is the best ever (he's never seen his work). Didn't even factor in we'd have to pay for a place for him to stay, we'd be responsible for removing all the old flooring and moving all our furniture, his friend has no business connections here, and what if his friend flakes out or doesn't get done in time. Like, so many, many things can go wrong with that scenario. And I didn't even mention that his nickname for his friend is "Crackhead _(real name)_."

My BIL works as a contractor sometimes. He offered to remodel out bathrooms & kitchen when we had it done. Big nope octopus on that one. Yeah, it would have saved me a lot of money, but definitely not worth arguing with family members over the small things.

The school nurse called about another issue (she calls so frequently she shows up on my frequent contact list) so I asked her about the sunscreen. Bad intel from MH. They can have sunscreen but with a note and they prefer to keep it at the nurse's office. (No problem.) They don't want the teachers in the position of applying it. I have no problem with that. By the time you are in elementary school you should be able to handle those basics and I don't expect a teacher to apply it to 23+ kids.

We don't even have to do that. They request that we bring it in for them to keep in their individual cubbies. This is how it is for us. The old daycare even asked one year if all parents wanted to pay $6 and they would buy it for the entire room.

I honestly never expected this to be an issue. Maybe that's naïve but it's just not how his grandpa operates. I think he just bit off more than he can handle with the last job and is so desperate to get it off his plate that he's letting other things slide and just dedicating all his energy to that. We've both told them until we're blue in the face. They just don't see the urgency. Maybe now that they are on the verge of charging us for storage they'll wake up.

inthekitty Big ol' WTF to your H wanting to fly his friend in for remodeling? 😱 Was he challenging himself to create the worst, most expensive experience of all time? Not to mention the divorce costs he could have been facing 😉

Speaking of renovations...I’m deep-cleaning our master bath...or was, now I’m looking at paint swatches 😬 The bathroom really needs to be repainted; it was a crappy paint job to start with and now there’s years of build-up from hairspray, etc. I could keep it neutral but I’m tempted to do a color.
It’s a sickness, folks...

cagoldi I’m sorry you and P are having a rough time. Sending you sleep vibes and wine and hugs. vino I use so silver purple shampoo by matrix and I love it. It’s about $13 a bottle, but it lasts a long time. Hi, I have nothing new. I got in a good workout and then came home and had a piece of the cake the boys and Shaun made me for Mother’s Day. Oh well, balance right? Dh has a work dinner tonight which means I’m solo parenting.

Not to mention the divorce costs he could have been facing 😉 I know, right? And thank you for the validation because sometimes he makes me feel like I'm crazy with this kind of shit. It's not remotely normal to fly out your old HS buddies for a major reno project. I know this is shocking, but there are plenty of people who do flooring in our state. Even if he lived right in our town I wouldn't want him to do it for reasons mentioned above. I don't mix business with friends/family. It's never a good idea.

inthekitty, my MIL always suggests outlandish things like flying up her “paint guy” or whoever to do work around our house. She once suggested that her paint guy could stay w us while he worked on our house. Um, big fat no.

yummeecookee, wow. Yeah, how about no to that. I just don't get people. I understand when you have a professional you like for something it's hard when you aren't in the area anymore. But trust, there are other people who can do the job. It's a given that no contractor should stay at the house. How would the homeowners bitch about how he showed up late, had the wrong materials, and left early if he was in your home?

Is purple shampoo a thing for blondes? We use it on white horses to get the yellow tone gone.

My frontrunner is Benjamin Moore Wedgewood Gray. The bottom half of the walls is neutral tile, and half the bathroom is a fully-tiled shower, so there's not much wallspace. If the property mgr objects at move-out (hahahahahaha), I could paint it back in about half an hour.

Work was nuts as per usual. Dh came home a little early though so that’s nice. He does seem like he caught the PMS the other husbands are experiencing though.
C wet the bed this morning. It’s every two weeks almost to the day. Very weird. He definitely didn’t fully empty his bladder before bed last night but how do you make someone do that? And he won’t go if I wake him so I’m at a loss. 4:45 wakeup today was not fun.
It’s storming like crazy right now. I hope we don’t lose power.

Is purple shampoo a thing for blondes? I think it takes the brassiness out. When I blonde (not super blonde -- just loads of highlights) my hairdresser told me it's because the colors are on opposite ends of the color wheel-- the colors are complimentary. The same way green concealer works on skin that's extra red.

Is purple shampoo a thing for blondes? Others already answered, but yes it helps with brassiness and yellow tones. I’ve been lightening my hair to that almost silvery white blond and it helps keep it longer.

Hi! Depends on the night, decent though. Usually a semi quick wake up or two along with a 1.5 hour wakeup around 3am.
