NamasteBirches I'd be so pissed at the admin for not putting a stop to that. Where are the teachers when it happens? If you'll be in the same district next year, try to request the certain kids not be in the same class as your DS. I had to do that this year for DD because a boy wouldn't stop grabbing her and making her uncomfortable in kindy.

I had to do that this year for DD because a boy wouldn't stop grabbing her and making her uncomfortable in kindy. She claims she had the guidance counselor speak to him & the parents but the parents aren't easy to reach (this kid is always with the grandpa) yada yada yada & she said he definitely won't be in the same class next year. I wrote her an email with the two other kids he needs to not be in as well because there's 3 problem kids on & off. One is the biggest problem. One started off being the worst, then pretends to be his friend but then does grimey things to him. The other is just a really bad influence. It's just a mess. Who knows where these teachers are? We ask ourselves this every time. Our teacher lost two kids too. She has 15 kids now. I mean, come on. The thing that bothers me the most is DS is such a sweet kid. Like he doesn't bother anyone. At all. But everyone just has to bother him & we'll tell him over & over again along the lines of sticking up for yourself, etc but he's like too sweet to if that makes sense. He has said other kids have come to his defense at times when there's the name calling but then there's other times like yesterday with the markers that he's so oblivious to things, he doesn't even know it's happening. Like I don't understand & then he'll still stay next to these kids too. Get away from them! 🤦

Tomorrow is DD's last day of first grade. OMG this year flew by. Her summer activities start in two weeks and she's so excited. I'm taking it easy until then and just going to local playgrounds, riding bikes, etc until the real running around starts. Last year I had her at the pool and such the very next day and by August 1 I was mentally done. I'm pacing myself this year.

DD is like that sometimes and calls everyone her friend. I have a hard time holding back from telling her sometimes kids are just assholes and to stay away. At least you don't have many days left of school and he can spend the summer in peace. Poor kid seems to have had a rough couple years.

NamasteBirches I would be pissed too. Even though the year is almost over, the school should still be putting in some effort to do something.

I woke up with pain/pressure over my eye this morning. I skipped my aerobics class and just worked out at home once it started to go away. This weather is killing me between my sinuses and allergies! Still better than winter though.

I feel like they are still so young and innocent. I have one of the "too nice" kids too, so I understand what you are saying. I fear she's going to get emotionally hurt a lot in life. I have to say though, I do feel bad for teachers (in general) they pretty much have their hands tied when it comes to these "bad kids". There isn't a whole lot they can do besides talk to the parents and take away playtime...and some kids just don't care about that so it's not an incentive. There's also the issue of the parents not caring that their kid is a jerk because either A. they are a jerk themselves or B. they don't believe that their kid can do anything wrong.

It is sad to see kids that young being so mean to each other. My first experience with kids being assholes didn’t happen until middle school but maybe I was just lucky.

I can't believe some of your kids are done with school already. DD will be going until 6/21 thanks to snow days, and would have been in until 6/11 otherwise.

My first experience with kids being assholes didn’t happen until middle school but maybe I was just lucky. what's also sad is that I bet majority of it stems from their parenting. I guess the good part of all this is that DS doesn't dwell on any of it. He's still his happy self.

It seems around here the districts like to have the absolute minimum attendance days required by the state. Because it's all about staff time off, not educating children. 🙄

Omg I just came home from a 1/2 day of subbing. I did a reading teacher that has small groups. She seriously expected me to grade things during one period when I didn't have a group which included questions that were based on two chapters of a book. Like in order to accurately grade them I'd have to read the damn chapters. Like wtf?! I don't understand these people. Like you're coming back at 11. You can't just freaking do it? & the type of book is a kid narrating about an issue that is occurring implying that you already know wtf is going on. I tried to skim through & ended up marking shit wrong when I realized it after the fact so I whited things out so I probably look like a crazy person but like hello? That's what you get. Like I honestly find this shit so rude. Is it so bad if I have couple minutes of doing nothing before the next group comes in. FFS!

I thought of this but the papers stayed behind so I figured she would look at what I did so then I thought she'd judge it if I marked it wrong. On the sub side, they also rank our performance at the end which I think is totally unfair that I can't do the same on the crap that they leave me with. Lol so I didn't want to get bad marks. That's what I get for going back, I was taking a break for a while. Oh well.
