Not even 3 hours. Jane Mayer and Ronan Farrow are doing the Lord's work. ”I strongly contest these charges......... from way over here.”

ETA: wrong thread, leaving it. I thought this was a sly commentary on men and society and such. Fuck off all men, even this little guy, the end.

Anyone else voting in Ohio’s primaries tomorrow? What are your thoughts on Governor?
I think I’m leaning Cordray but I really don’t know any of the people that well.

Someone at the briefing today asked about rumors she’s living with her parents and not at the White House. I hadn't heard about this. This is what happens when I take a few days off politics twitter to get wrapped up in a scandal unfolding in romance twitter. Yas, #cockygate

I should also add that I like Kucinich’s responses so he also seems like a good candidate, but again I don’t know much about him.

Doesn't seem like Preet has a good chance of getting appointed.

I think Cordray is going to win, but he gets an A+ rating from the NRA and I found his stance on gun control kinda weak, so I couldn’t bring myself to vote for him. Kucinich is kinda a mess though, too. I’ll be interested to see what happens. ETA I believe he *had* an A+ for a long time but it’s gone down some.

This is what happens when I take a few days off politics twitter to get wrapped up in a scandal unfolding in romance twitter. I think she is just trying to do stuff that her advisers are saying need to be done as the FLOTUS. She clearly doesn't want to do anything as part of this first family. 1. She plagiarized a speech from Michelle Obama. 2. She plagiarized her stance and pamphlets for cyber bullying. Its like she is copping out to get it down and then fold back into the darkness behind Trumps distractions and nonsense. I am not going to give her any attention in my mind. She clearly doesn't want to be there. You can tell by her posture and attitude during all the trips and whenever she is on camera. I just don't see her as part of this administration. Not trying to come off as sexist but so many other FLOTUS' have done more. Jackie Kennedy, Michelle Obama was my favorite, Barbara Bush, Hilary Clinton, Nancy Reagan, etc. All contributed and made the office of FLOTUS something to go to and be proud off.

Yiiiiiiiiiikes. Schneiderman accused of physical abuse by 4 women. I haven’t read through the rest of the thread yet, but I’ve been following this story since it broke yesterday. The details of what he did and forced women to say are absolutely disgusting. I am so furious and disappointed because I really thought he was one of the good guys.

It really is a punch in the gut to still see all these men accused of this hanus shit. I knew rampant sexism and misogyny existed, built in to the fibers of this country, but Jesus, no matter how much comes out about the abuse that has taken place I will always feel this....sheer sadness.
But, the silver lining of that, is that this could be a turning point, and finally these men are losing their jobs and being held accountable.
Except one notable one.

Not to hijack for Northern VA people again, but Metro just announced it's shutting down the Blue/Yellow lines south of National Airport next summer from Memorial Day 2019 to Labor Day 2019 for repairs. I will be directly impacted by this shutdown and pray work will let me telecommute next summer. Jesus. ETA: And obviously I am not the only one who will be affected. (I just reread this and it sounded super douchey lol ) The entire thing sucks. But then, it is Metro on a day that ends in Y. This is so far beyond idiotic. They're basically screwing over Virginia tourism and hospitality. Doing this at all is ridiculous--doing it during tourist season is insane. And can you imagine what this will do to traffic and pollution? We already had enough poor air quality days last year.

Weidefeld is the worst and I'm looking forward to the inevitably skewering he will get from Kojo Nnamdi and Tom Sherwood on NPR cakewench I would be losing my shit if I still lived there. Also summer seems like the worst time to shut down the metro, what with it being peak tourist season, too. Excellent plan all around. 🙄

CNN is reporting Trump is already getting increasingly frustrated with Giuliani. No shit. Cue another month or two of grandpa ramblings, reports that Trump is upset, asking SHS about it, hearing he has full confidence in him, before Giuliani retires.

We need to elect more women on both sides. The old boys club shit is tired.

I can't believe Hatch was like "Invite Trump to your funeral." Uh, no, asshole. It's his funeral. He and his family can do whatever the fuck they want, including not invite a President who insulted him at every turn except when he needed his vote.

Yeah that was a bit much, call me petty but I really don't think it is appropriate or cool to have the guy who mocked his years as a POW at his funeral.
I mean for real? That was the lowest of the low. Woof.

For those of you who like to read, I cannot recommend Madeliene Albright's Fascism enough. She gives brief histories for many of the current dictators that was incredibly informative without being overbearing. She also obviously talks about Mussolini and Hitler. The similarities in all of those dictatorships and things that are presently happening was upsetting, but I think it's important that they're pointed out and from someone who has personal experience not just with fleeing Nazism, but also as Secretary of State attempting diplomacy with many of them.
ETA: The histories/biographies of current leaders was helpful for me. I try to keep up, but I'll admit my knowledge of several European countries is lacking.

Hatch proving once more that party control matters more than anything, including common human decency. I know he's a sitting Senator and has been a public servant for a long time, but he and his family have my sympathy that his funeral is being turned into a circus. Let the man die in peace.

I wasn’t around here much when Barbara Bush died, but I’m pretty sure she didn’t want that shit gibbon at her funeral. And most likely made sure he knew. I agree with McCain 100%. Hatch is a disgusting pig.

Hatch is a disgusting pig. There actually wasn't too much talk about it, but I think part of that is that it's fairly common for a sitting President to not attend a former First Lady's funeral. Obama didn't attend Nancy Reagan's. The Bush family may have explicitly told 45 to not attend, though Melania did go.
