I finally planted some stuff in my garden! I still have a lot to do yet though. Mother nature has decided not to cooperate pretty much all of this week (presuming forecast doesn't change much), so I'm not sure when I'll get to finish.

We had frost last night and I had to go and cover my basil with a sheet. Come on weather!

Ended up moving my tomatillo plant out of my raised bed since I found out I need two of them for it to fruit and none of the 6 garden centers I checked at have any tomatillo plants this late in the season. Ugh. I moved it to a corner of the yard on the unlikely chance that it magically gets pollinated, and replaced it with a snacking pepper plant that my two year old will probably love. Disappointed I won't be making green salsa this year, will just have to make sure to grab two early on next year!

I have the opposite problem...my tomatillos from previous years reseeded like crazy and I have to weed out the seedlings pretty much daily.

I wish I'd done my research earlier, I only looked stuff up because my plant started flowering super early and I was wondering if I needed to do anything. I figured they were the same as tomatoes and peppers and one plant would be fine.

I just found out my library has a seed library program. You can go and get whatever seeds you want with your library card and then they just ask that you consider donating some seeds back in the fall. I'm going to go check it out!

Have any of you grown strawberries from bare root? I bought one last spring, it grew really big all summer but no flowers/fruit. I thought maybe it was just a normal strawberry behavior (it’s an ozark btw). This spring it came back super strong, I added general fertilizer (plant tone by espoma) back at the end of April. The plant is huge, probably 2ft x 2ft, but no signs of flowers or berries. Is this normal or is there something wrong with my plant? If it’s not going to fruit then I’m digging it up because it’s taking up almost half of my raised bed.

Hey guys! I have a delicata squash that is doing great and producing lots of blossoms, but something keeps cutting off the blossoms before they even open up to fruit. I went this morning and the biggest one (the first to start to open) was cut off. It's a totally clean cut right at the base of the flower.
Any idea what I'm dealing with?

I feel like such a garden slacker, yesterday I went to the local farm and picked up some plants and they are in the ground! We have Romas, jalapeños, purple peppers, bells, sweet banana and hot banana, then trying for the first time 3 types of cucumbers (DS1 is v v excited and wants to turn some into pickles), cantaloupe (per suggestion of random lady shopping too). Picked up rosemary and basil too that I need to get planted. Then I have some kitchen volunteers: potatoes, onion (hoping to harvest seeds if it flowers), pineapple, and avocado.
I bought peas and carrot seeds, but I didn’t get them in the ground and now I worry it is too late. Thinking about putting the peas into a barrel style pot I have empty.

Tomorrow more tomatoes will go in the ground as well as pumpkins. We’ve had a really mild spring so nothing has really taking off yet.
