so i got a call from the OB- i passed the GTT but i'm mildly anemic... weird, since i've never had an issue with that before. they want me to add in an iron supplement in addition to the prenatal vitamin. can anyone recommend a brand of iron supplement they liked? i'm worried about constipation. @_@ the nurse mentioned Slow FE brand. I just take the generic of Slow FE and take it with vitamin C. If you're not already taking something, a fiber supplement or stool softener wouldn't be a bad idea to add to the mix as well.

My in-laws are coming to stay with us Mother's Day weekend.....which means Mother's Day will be all about MIL and GMIL and I'll spend the day like any other. As petty as it is, this does not please me.

I'm starting to look really pregnant I guess, because people are constantly asking me if I am/when I'm due/all that. I really don't feel that much bigger than I was about 20 weeks but I know I am.

notmoose smell all the things 😂. DD loves smelling lotions and stuff in the store. Just got my first blood draw and drank the glucose. OB office has no wifi. This is going to be a long 3 hours. Ds does too! If I smell something he has to smell it too. Hopefully the time passes quick for you!

It's so hot. We are at the park and I have sweat dripping down my back and butt crack. 😣 This confirms summer will suck and I DNW to be outside unless in water.

As petty as it is, this does not please me. This is me every year because we usually host a brunch on Mother's Day. But we usually do something Friday morning as a family and then H will get me whatever I want for dinner on Sunday. We aren't this year because of the bleeding I a have been having and I am not that sad about it.

I just buy the store brand that says "comparable to slow FE". Your body absorbs iron best (and I feel like therefore causes less issues) when you take it with vitamin C, so take it at the same time as your prenatal. Currently I'm using the 21st Century Brand because I could get it on Amazon for a reasonable price.

PennyCandy, make sure something is about you!! Last year, and hopefully again this year, we've had non mother's day related plans that made it so I wasn't with my family. H took DD up to my family event, and I skipped it all together. This year, DD is doing a sleepover with my parents while we go to a concert Saturday, and maybe we'll meet up for something family-ish mid day? It's so nice and I don't feel any weird pressure.

potatocakes, thanks, i ended up ordering the 21st century brand stuff from amazon. they want me to take iron in the morning and the prenatal at night (or vice versa), but i was thinking about maybe getting some OJ to take with the iron. i do have some vitamin c at home too, though.

The intake nurse for new pregnancy at my OB's office recommended Flintstones Complete. It has iron and is comparable to many prenatals.
Definitely take with vitamin c for max absorption, and NOT dairy. Dairy messes with the absorption and can cause a nasty stomach ache/nausea. I've found that I can't have any dairy about 30-45 min before or after taking iron.

Calcium inhibits absorption of iron so I've always taken them at separate times also. That being said, make sure your OJ isn't calcium fortified as some are.

How do families of 5 go on vacation??? I’m trying to book somewhere for my last week of maternity leave (DD has fall break from kindergarten) and keep running into max occupancy restrictions of at most 4 in a room. Why ask the age of the kids if you’re going to require a bed for a <1yo?
So frustrating to limit a suite with two rooms, a king bed and pull out queen for at most 4 people. But I can get the same exact room, same size, for the same price with 2 double beds instead of the king. It’s not like I’m trying to sneak an extra person in - kids are free anyway. They even offer free cribs. I would just like to be able to share a bed with my husband!
It just makes no sense.

This is really random, but interesting (I think). I (like most normal people) occasionally get the hiccups - DD had them off and on while she was in utero. H, on the other hand, gets hiccup - singular, and I have not felt any from this baby (unless there was a singular one that just felt like a kick). Genetics are so weird.

tarheelmom, omg, i dunno. we were running into this problem even when we went away with 2 kids for a long weekend over the summer. the place you're looking at seems inexpensive initially, but then you add on extra $$$ for each body (even if it's a room with the same # of beds!) and suddenly it's 2x as much. and airbnbs that are kid-friendly are few and far between. blah. not like DH and i are going to have any spare money for vacations once #3 is here anyway. , ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ can you just omit the baby from the booking and have the other 2 kids share a double and you and your H share a double? and then bring a pack-n-play? potatocakes, i have not noticed hiccups with this baby either. it's weird. DS1 and DS2 both had them in utero- i think DS1 moreso than DS2. but i have not felt any so far with this one.

And when we're a family of six, I will continue to lie.
eta: I curse the booking website every time with the same frustrations you're having. Why ask if you won't let me add an extra 'free' kid?

I have 2 sisters and we always had just one room or suite. I can't remember when online booking started, but I'm sure my dad used it when we were still all traveling as a family. I would just not mention the smallest kid.

Different but kind of similar issue, we wanted to do a short vacay last July and online wasn't allowing us to book the room we wanted but it said it was available... we called and it was easily booked for us.

I hurt my foot the other night by stepping on a power cord and taking a chunk of skin off my heel. It was okay yesterday, sore, but not too bad. It hurts worse today. Probably because I was on my feet a lot but dang it's so uncomfortable.

I'm irritated with Kohls. I have all of these coupons to use and found a few maternity things, but their website won't let me sign in. When I try to reset my password it says my email address isn't valid. When I try to create a new account under the same email it says I already have an account.
My kid was super cranky/clingy this morning. I'm hoping he doesn't have a bad day at daycare.

It's really irritating because the store by me carries so few maternity clothes.

I’m at my doctor appointment. My blood pressure is 140/78. It will come back down in a few minutes, but with dd it always did this and then my doc would freak out. Sigh....

This has been me at every appointment. I'm just prepared to have it done twice each appointment now. Well, it stayed high and there is protein in my urine. So they are having me do bloodwork and a 24 hour urine catch this weekend. Hopefully it’s nothing. I don’t want to go on bed rest.

I had pre-e with DS and I went straight to hospital bedrest. It sucked.
