tgrimes, looks like my bro is bringing the dollhouse to Cadence this Saturday, so no Houston trip for me. Maybe we'll head up there later in the summer.

I don’t like the new tapa format bc I can’t type up a response while scrolling through the daily. So now I have to go off memory! kim22- I would pick Costco but I also have never been to a BJ’s so don’t know if it’s better. dapostrophe- can’t believe you’re in the last month already! @wine- that’s hilarious! I hope the appt went well.

My boss who I meet with maybe 1x year just scheduled a meeting for today at 4. I usually leave at 330. I'm annoyed and I think I'm really going to be hungry when o get home. And the cafe doesn't have any mocha muffins today

I had a total shit morning. When I got to DC today they refused to accept C bc I didn’t have a dr note. You may remember I picked him up on Thursday afternoon and kept him home Fri due to a rash on the diaper area. I guess I’m the ass for missing the detail that rashes require a note. I thought it was like the other symptoms where you can bring them back after 24hrs (rash had cleared up very nicely over the wknd).
So anyhow, after a failed attempt at a video dr visit, I ended up being able to get a same day appt at his new PCP. She just prescribed a topical cream for the little bit of remaining rash and gave me a note saying he could go back to DC today.

Also Murphy’s oil soap got the stains out of my throw pillow. I had to scrub at it and do a couple applications but it did lift thankfully.

yummeecookee, It's just an irritation rash, right? Did the dr. note that in the note so that he wouldn't be sent home for it again?

I got a free month trial of hulu just so I can binge watch Handmaid's Tale. I may cancel my netflix after I finish The Affair, then I'll do hulu.

Well I thought it was going ok since I could count on one hand how many accidents he had over the course of the 2 full days. Then he shat on the floor on Sunday night, after dinner (after he’d been on the toilet) and it totally crushed any feeling I had of progress. With all the running around I did w him today, I put him back in a pull-up :/ At home, he’s free from the waist down so I’m still putting him on the potty and so far so good. 😬

Also hi.
Last night before bed, I was rocking Chase and singing him a few songs to calm him down before putting him in his crib. He's recently started making requests - mainly the ABCs or Ring around the Rosie - and last night he was hugging me with his face smashed sideways into my chest, trying to sing along. SO freaking cute!! I love our little bedtime routine, he's so much more cuddly and calm than he is 99% of the time. It's odd but sweet.
I didn't totally dread coming into the office today, which is (sadly) a first as of late. I need to talk to DH more about it all since he was so distracted all damn weekend. I just want to be very clear that my recent agitation is related to work and not us, since he tends to take any stress in our relationship very personally. I need to be more cautious of his feelings in a way that just wasn't a thing in the past, and I don't think I'm doing a great job. On a less positive note, I had sent a long email to one of my friends apologizing for being somewhat distant and trying to explain myself, and it's been radio silence. I'm sure she's just busy seeing as she works, has 2 kids and is going through a divorce (awesome time for me to disappear, I know) but given everything we've been through together, I was expecting at least an acknowledgement.
Anyhow I am a bundle of nerves for this weekend but at least I started out the week with a good run. The weather is looking pretty much perfect and I'm 90% sure what I'll be wearing, I just have to calm down until then. LOL.

Cadence is starting to not want to rock at bedtime any more. It breaks my heart, but I try to pretend it's no big deal because I don't want her to do it out of pity for me. My baby isn't a baby any more

My baby isn't a baby any more I used to sing a nightly song to B and she asked me to stop months ago 😕 At least she still lets me read her a story.

klong11 aw hugs! For what it’s worth, it makes the times they’ll ‘allow’ you to do it every once in a while all the more special.

My kids have never really been rockers. B never did it and S stopped probably by a year or so. However, yesterday as I was buckling S in the car, I gave him a quick kiss on the head. Something I do without thinking with both kids and have always done after I buckle them in. As we were heading home, he quietly said "mom, I didn't like what you did when you buckled me in". I thought he meant I didn't give him a toy or something so I asked for more information, he said he didn't like that I kissed him, and said he doesn't want me to kiss him anymore. He asked me to stop kissing him good night a few months ago (most of the time, occasionally he's still ok with it)
I am not happy about this!

We still sing songs and read stories, but she's just over the rocking I guess. It's probably uncomfortable for her at this point trying to fit onto my lap. Most of her hangs off the sides. lol

FWIW, Colin hasn't been rocked before bed since he moved out of the nursery, so over 2 years. He still sits in my lap for books, which can get pretty uncomfortable since I'm on the floor and he wriggles around a lot. I'm not going to kick him off though, no way, no how.

He's never been much of a cuddler, and honestly, we're not a super touchy feely kind of family, so I shouldn't be that surprised by it. But still... It seems he only really wants to be touching me/cuddling me etc when it is completely inconvenient for me, not when I'd want it (like when I am cooking dinner, or trying to eat dinner and feed B at the same time, suddenly he wants ALL the hugs)

Occasionally he'll wander in when I am reading B his books and ask to sit on my lap and read books with him. As wildly uncomfortable as it is for me to read to them with them both on my lap, I will always say yes!
