Is anyone else’s 4 year old obsessed with saying everything is boring? H told me she doesn’t want to eat supper because it’s too boring. Last night she told me the white noise was too boring so she couldn’t go to sleep. YES! C tells me all the time everything is boring. Even when he's clearly having fun. The other day he told me A is "boring" and when I questioned it since he's obsessed with A, it turned out he thought A was bored since he was asleep.

Riding in the car, playing at home, etc...if it isn't exactly what she wants to be doing at that exact minute, it's boring.

trtlcrzy C just got over the “its so boooring phase”. Now we are solidly in the “I wish I didn’t have a family” phase. Enjoy boring. Thanks for putting it into perspective!

It's like a live version of tetris or something. I forgot how old your older one (the one above your N 13) is. How long will he be in the booster? It was! Especially since we only have tether hooks behind certain seats in the back row, etc. I think I've got everyone in their safest position, but I am going to have to double check the manuals. He's almost 6, but I need to weigh/measure him again. I told Alex when we get my next vehicle when I'm pregnant with baby number three, I'm going to have tethers retrofitted for every single seat. Apparently a dealership can do that. There's never enough top tethers. My mom's 3 row SUV only has one in the back row. So dumb.

I’m sorry for the traumatic day tgrimes. It was conjuring up memories of when I took B for her blood draw last Nov. 😬

I won't be working tomorrow. I got enough done that the team can figure it out.

Meet Spot. She is about 10 months old, just weaned babies, and is super sweet. She is an outside cat, but came in to meet Sierra. We don’t want more kitties in our future so she will be getting fixed very soon. But she will be responsible for keeping the damn rodents at bay!

I’m sorry for a rough appointment tgrimes. chrisy01 Glad you can enjoy your day off tomorrow. We haven’t hit the boring stage here. I’m sure it’s in my near future.

WWN13 do:
Lo's school is doing a screening tomorrow for developmental issues. They gave me the packet of papers to sign and what not this evening at pickup. Part of the forms is a release form for them to share the information with other groups. I've googled the group a little but nothing that tells me what to expect from this. The school highlighted what I have to fill out including the agreement to release to all these other groups. My gut is telling me to not agree to the tests since they will release this information to other groups. What are your thoughts. C says it's up to me.

chrisy01 I would fill out the forms you are comfortable with. I'm the morning ask if the testing can happen without release of info. Is the testing sponsored by the groups? If not then you shouldn't have to release info. If it is state testing it might be required. But don't feel the need to get him tested. Or ask for a referral.

Sunny41 out of the 30 pages of forms I only feel comfortable with 3 pages. The rest require release of information and liability. The groups they release to are some county and state groups but it's about 25 non-profit organizations. They are spending 2 hours tomorrow doing the testing, which includes a dental examine.

chrisy01 I wouldn't sign them if you aren't comfortable with them. Things like dental exams are things you can do on your own, so the dc doesn't need to run those for you. If our dc did that I would probably opt out.

If you feel comfortable with the option of opting out then do so. 30pages though! Is this a study? Is the form an informed consent or just school permission slip? Also it gives me mixed feelings because lower income families might need these dental checks and how many parents just sign and don't read. I hate the internal conflict I have with this stuff since I am currently paid to make data publicly available.

MH and I are watching The Expanse. It is a really really good sci-fy show and I highly recommend it to anyone who can stomach science fiction. Well written and good stories.

chrisy01 if you’re not comfortable with his information being shared I wouldn’t consent. It seems odd they are doing all this testing at school.

So C found more information on the group doing it. They do this for anyone in the county. It is designed for low income families to get dental checkups and developmental checkups. What's odd is they are holding it at a private school and having the private school students participate as well. I've decided not to give consent.
With them giving me the consent forms the night before I can't ask a lot of questions and get all the information to feel comfortable to have his information shared. I'll talk to the director at drop off. If she gives me any push back I'll just take LO home with me.
Thanks for the input. It made me feel less paranoid.

wedding forgot to comment yesterday about you suspecting ADHD with C. Chadd.org has some very useful information about adhd in young children. It might be helpful to know that adhd behaviour has to prevail itself in more areas than one, so not only in school or at home or at grandmas etc. You can look up dsm-5 diagnostic criteria online, with the side note that a diagnosis at this age is complicated because a lot of behaviour is normal for this age (fe not being able to wait your turn, acting without thinking, easily distracted etc).

chrisy01 - if the information being shared includes his personal information I would likely opt out. But if it is “blind” information I would probably be ok with it. For example, if they are sharing results of dental exam but omitting the child’s name and other personal info. Sierra has been a part of many “blind” studies (through the hospital though, not school). I like the idea that they might learn something from her case that could help others, future patients. But 30 pages of limited info the day before seems crazy!

lfig and nam2013 it doesn't say if it's blind or not. That's part of my concern.

chrisy01 I dislike that they gave you a 30 page document to read over, ask questions if needed and sign in a such a short amount of time, they’d be getting a talk from me about getting their shit together quicker if they want a proper response.

Just talked to the director. She seemed annoyed that we are not doing the screening but when I said I didn't feel comfortable with the information provided and the short time to read it and ask questions she seemed stated maybe they should have given the documents last week or the week before. She seemed less annoyed when I was done. She did mention that so far we are the only family to opt out. Oh well. More play time for LO.
