Loves:
My breastfriend. This probably helped me more than any other thing we bought. I have a lot of back problems and this was just so much more comfortable than any other nursing pillow. I did have a boppy and I stuck it in my car for when I was nursing while we were out, but the breastfriend was my go to.
Diaper Genie - still use it to this day
Video monitor - will be buying a 2nd one for this baby
Sound machine - still use to this day
Aquaphor - I should invest in this stuff
The baby buddy secure a toy strap. They were great for keeping his paci around.
Glider - my H did not one to get one so we didn't for a long time. Finally I insisted and I love it.
Hates: Most bibs - I learned I really like the big, over the head bibs. DS was able to rip any velcro bibs off and most bibs were too small to actually cover all of his shirt, so he still got food on them anyways.
Sleep sacks - they just didn't work for my son.
Shopping cart cover - PITA to deal with and not worth the hassle.
Mamaroo - total waste of money. DS hated it. I will try it with this one and hopefully get my monies worth out of it.
The bath spout cover - it would never stay on

Shopping cart cover - PITA to deal with and not worth the hassle. Oh yeah! I forgot I even have one of these 😂 Only used it a few times. I registered for one and no one bought it for us. When I went to grab the rest of the stuff I needed I decided I would hold off on getting one and see if I ever actually felt like I needed it. I'm glad no one bought it for us because I have never wished I had one. I like that most stores have sanitizing wipes available by the carts now, but that's enough for me. If my child had a contact allergy to something I would probably get one that could be washed after every use, but we have never missed not having one.

I returned the one I registered for and got as a gift. I prefer to babywear when shopping with smaller babies, and honestly I don't really care about cart germs when my kid is in a shopping cart. She's going to get exposed to germs anyway and it helps her immune system.

Faves- Sleep swaddles. I loved the Swaddle Me's and the zippers were the freakin best. The larger ones with the Velcro worked great too but we had to be sure to open them up before the baby was in the room because the Velcro was so loud.
Monitor with sound, temp and video. I will use this much more this time around from an earlier stage. I'll have the baby sleeping in my room or possibly the shared room and the toddler will be out with me in the rest of the house. It will be great to have this to keep an eye on him. S would nap in the living room while I watched tv or whatever but that's not so feasible now.
Sit-me-up- our BMB was OBSESSED. We probably increased sales like nobodies business. S could hold his head practically since birth so I wasn't worried about him being upright and he loved being able to see and hang out. We used it for a high chair in the very early days.
Wub-a-nub- Another controversial item this was the only paci he could keep in without it popping out of his mouth. And if it did come out it was never lost and easy to find. He only used it a couple weeks but I thought they were adorable.
Nays- We almost never used all the swaddling blankets. It was summer and the swaddlers were usually enough. I'd say I had way too many of the "blankets". We also didn't use a lot of the newborn hats since it was summer. I had more trouble keeping him cool than keeping him warm. Once the weather changed that was different but it was totally dependent on the time of year he was born.

This thread is so fascinating. I used my Boppy every single day for months and couldn't have nursed without it. The sleep swaddles gave me so much more comfort about swaddling him because I didn't have the bulk of a blanket being used. It's just so dependent on the kid and your preference. I remember thinking what's the point when people got monitors that were audio only. Useless! Same with Sophie, some kids love it some don't. Babies are fickle creatures.

poppy I forgot about those zipper swaddles! We had those for when DD was a newborn and I loved those little bean pods until she grew out of them and we switched to the zipper ones. Definitely have to dig those out again!

The Boppy also literally saved my ass in the hospital. I had been discharged and Si hadn't. I didn't have my own bed or anything since we were moved to the children's wing. I couldn't sit because my tailbone was so fucked. I sat on my Boppy and only cried a little bit.

Definitely have to dig those out again! We gave ours to H's co-worker who didn't have much. We didn't get them back so I'll have to buy all new ones.

The boppy saved me post c section because when I got home I could not get comfortable in my bed and had to sleep up right for a few nights and I would stack a bunch of pillows and put the boppy at the top, it had the perfect amount of firmness and support so I could relax my head and neck... I’ve been loyal to the boppy ever since. Never thought I’d use it in such a fashion, but I was desperate.

I'd say I had way too many of the "blankets".
I have soooooooo many blankets in general. Between swaddle blankets and receiving blankets and fancy blankets all the handmade blankets and quilts..... I must have like 30 freaking blankets! 😂

I loved my stroller blanket, got so much use out of that one for a long time.

We got at least 7 different homemade blankets, plus some store bought ones. They were lovely, but it's just too much. And I'm sure we'll get more for this baby.

What do you all like to use as a water bottle post part? I’m considering getting a bubba, it’s a big mug. Are there any better options? I’m thinking something with high capacity.

I just have some BPA free plastic straw cups from Target. They say they're 20oz, but they hold the equivalent of a disposable water bottle so with the double wall they must only hold 17oz. I may look into something else (whether Yeti or another brand) because I like the idea of switching to stainless steel now that there are so many options out there.

I've been using a plain, old 24oz Camelbak bottle every day for years! Mine has the non-straw lid which I haven't seen for sale in a while. I don't care for the straw lids. It's not insulated at all, so if icy cold water is your thing it won't keep it cold. MH loves his Hydroflask which keeps ice for hours and hours.

I really love my Ello glass water bottle. It has rubber around it, easy to clean, and straw and rubber sippy so easy to drink. 🤷♀️ I never thought to buy something special. I think when I had DD, I just drank a shit ton of coconut water and Gatorade while in labor.
