The best part of the invite said “just drop your kid off and go have fun for 3 hrs”. No weird guessing on if I needed to hang around. Perfect!

A craft kit. They make a bunch of DIY slime one and make your own lipgloss. I hated the slime kit DS got for Christmas, but maybe a lipgloss one! Adults hate them, kids love them. They make a bunch of science ones the kids like and I hate too. I try to do a giftcard or kit vs a gift in this age group unless I know 100% what they want. Painted rocks, birdhouse, headed jewelry have all been hits.

DS is going to a classmates birthday party on Sunday and he says it’s his girlfriend. Gahhhh! I don’t know what to buy an 8 yr old. mini drone-($20 small one) hula hoop skipper/skip-a-long- thing that goes around your ankle and you hop over it sidewalk chalk spiral art dream tent or snuggie tail- both as seen on tv items I’m afraid to google a Snuggie tail.

I hope my Nana lives forever but no one in the family wants the cats on a plate or the fake clock painted on a plate. It will not be fun to go through at all. When my gran passed we all got to pick a few things that we wanted. I got her sherry glasses and a straight 70s stainless steel chip tray that she always put stale snacks on when we visited. That tray is so ugly but brings me so much joy That's sweet. Mine only has 2 kids and 2 grandkids so we will all be able to find a nice item to remember her. Mine will probably be from the kitchen as well.

I wondered about the price. My little townhome would fit in the living room of that place and would sell for more 😬 I was going to say - I think in Tlex and emma world that would be 6 million 😭 sadly true

Mermaid tail blanket. We have the knockoff ones from Costco and my kids love them.

These are all great ideas! I’m not a fan of just giving cash unless I know they are saving to buy something bigger.

I also have a collection of the old, fancy Avon perfume bottles that make me gag. They all make my heart smile though!

I have such fond memories of gifts from the Avon catalog as well because she couldn't say no to her friend who sold. Weird jewelry, gross perfume and soap were always present at Christmas when I was a kid.

I got 2 pairs of culottes today from forever21. They are so light and comfy and breezy I think I’ll be living in them for work this summer

It should be in the T&Cs that no one can say “target has them” to a Canadian

Claire's gift card for sure. I forgot about that because I hate that store, but that is the winner in the 8-14 girl category. Claire's filed for bankruptcy. Are they staying open?

The kids who received it were thrilled, but I do not clutter or messy crafts so I'm eye rolling when my kids get them but also giving them out a lot assuming other parents are more lenient with crafts.

Tonight will be in the 50’s and I think the same for tomorrow night. But it was so windy today that we were under a burn ban/fire warning because conditions were favorable for fires. And to think we had snow on Monday... So crazy here. Snow a few days ago and now 65 with a fire. I'm afraid to look too far in the forecast to see if another drop will happen. Similar story here except it was 84* and made me realize I am NOT ready for summer at all.

Did I mention I volunteered to help with our clothing closet for school? In one day it is being passed 100% to me. The person running it has two kids graduating and I have kids who are young so I will be there for a long time.

Claire's filed for bankruptcy. Are they staying open? Really! We were just there last weekend for DD to pick out random shit for her friend's birthday. I found this on CNN:
The company will continue to operate its approximately 1,600 Claire's and Icing brand stores in the United States during the bankruptcy process and expects to complete it by September. International stores are not part of the restructuring agreement.

I sure did love Claire’s. It was next to the Sanrio store. I’m pretty sure I spent all my allowance at those stores from ages 6-12

I love craft, food & science kits. We also randomly make slime from scratch. I give no fucks about messes while creating. My kids know where the paper towels & cleaner are.
The gold panning kit is fun and can be done outdoors. The kids still love receiving those. Same with the fossil or gem digging kits.
