It really does get easier. I promise. MH is gone now and honestly, it's sometimes easier... we get into such a routine when he's gone. But I remember when B was little and not sleeping well just wanting someone to help for an hour and feeling sad he was gone. How long is he OOT? He gets back late tomorrow, so it was a short trip. I’m being ridiculous. I’m just tired and still so sad, and the kids are sad, and our other dog is sad and it just feels like there’s a blanket of sadness on our house. I know I’m being OTT, but it’s hard to shake this funk right now. TOTALLY not ridiculous. It's hard. It was hard with 2. So, what, twice as hard for you?? You have every right to be exhausted, plus sad given your loss. Not OTT. I get it. Those funks are hard. As to dealing with it... when the end is in sight like that, I always look at it as - ok this is just a short period of time... I can do anything for a day, week, whatever, then he'll be here to help. It sounds like S is a good hands on dad. When he gets home, hand off the baby and go take a bath (right? that's your relaxation method of choice?). USe that as the carrot to get you through the next 36 hours.

Morning! Sitting at Starbucks this and trying to figure out how to get a breast pump. The other day MIL made a suggestion about how I should pump and let H feed the baby (so they can bond), and I was mildly irked because A.) I hate pumping so I have no desire to do it unless necessary and B.) H can bond with the baby in other ways. But when I really thought about it I realized I was more annoyed that she was still giving me baby parenting advice...it hit me right then and there that I have more experience as a new mother than both my MIL and my own mom. Whoa. I was planning to get a pump anyway, but my insurance gave me like 4 different companies to call and I need to figure out which one I want first. Is Medela still one of the better ones? That's what I had before. Any other suggestions welcome I had Medela with Maggie and an Ameda with Ben. I was disappointed when I saw KP changed from Medela to Ameda, but I actually ended up preferring the Ameda (Purely Yours) It's smaller but seemed to be more powerful. I kept that one at work and the Medela at home; it was great having two.

What does one do with a used breast pump? Anyone know? I gave my Medela away through a post in my breastfeeding group. It's not a closed system, but the woman who took it didn't care, and I really think as long as you get new tubes, you're good to go. I was going to sell my Ameda, since it's a closed system, but when my SIL got pregnant and they were tight on money, I gave that one to her.

dapostrophe I always had Medela but I wanted to try Spectra this time. Insurance didn't cover so I got another Medela. I only pump like once a week and it's fine. xolastunicornxo DH goes to California next week and I'm so nervous to be alone with the puppy. She likes H better than me and cries when he leaves. Just picked up my car from the recall repair and now working on a PTO flyer. Easy day but crazy night once I pick everyone up later.

peachsmama , So glad J's procedure went well! lfig - what did I miss? Did you have surgery? It's supposed to be 73 and sunny today, so I think I'm going to head out for lunch. Yes, I have been dealing with an extreme case of acid reflux for a year and a half. It kinda came out of left field. But it was making me throw up multiple times a day where I couldn't hardly eat anything. So 2 weeks ago I had a hiatal hernia repair and a fundoplication. Basically they wrapped part of my stomach around my lower esophagus because it had too large of an opening allowing the acid to come up. So now, everything stays where it should! I was on a liquid diet till Monday and now can just eat small portions because they basically shrunk my stomach and there is still a lot of swelling and healing going on inside. But, I have lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks....so silver lining?

Thanks guys. I know I can do it, but I started feeling like I’m being over dramatic, which makes me feel like I failing in the Mom game, and then I feel even worse. It’s a vicious cycle. Knowing you guys get where I’m coming from really helps! kim22 a puppy might be harder than a newborn!!

So my insurance covers pretty much all of them. Anyone try the Freestyle? It's the hands-free thing you put in your bra? I love the idea of hands-free, but I've read it's not great for big boobs. kim22 Why did you want to try Spectra?

mskatiep happy birthday! peachsmama glad everything went smoothly. mamabear short term? Take a bath, watch friends, dance with the kids (it makes the so happy, it makes me happy) go outside. Eat bad food. Long term depends, usually I’ll allow my self a certain amount of time to wallow and then I plan something nice at the end of that period (nice dinner, zoo with the kids etc) and try to move on. vino I’m sure it’s a very hard day in Canada, hugs. xolastunicornxo not a downer or ott, we’re here for hugs, hair pets and to just listen. dapostrophe breast pumps aren’t covered by insurance here, so I’ve used my medela freestyle for both kids until they were 14mo and loved it (as much as you can love a $400 pump anyway 😉). cagoldi I’m sooo sorry, reflux sucks bug time.

It was just what all the girls on my other Bmb were getting and somewhere in my house i still have a Medela if it didn't work. I'm the worst and I have 0 ounces of milk stored, I pump only as needed. I should get on it though, my friend told me a local hospital is going to start paying for breastmilk. I told her I could never take money from parents of a sick baby but if insurance companies were going to pay, I'm in.

xolastunicornxo it’s hard for all of us- no matter the situation. Four kids is a lot. But you’ve got it. When I’m having bad days I think about all I’ve done and all my successes as a parent and it helps me feel more confident. Like, I can actually have it all together without actually having it all together. If that makes sense. Hang in there! mamabear I’m with unicorn with the retail therapy and wine. 😬 Music also helps me. How did it go with J peachsmama? (Kidding- just saw your update! Glad it went well!) I always had Madelas dapostrophe. I had several- I bought one (with my first), I had one from insurance (for my third) and my friend gave me one. All the same pump. I never had any problems.

All this pump talk is reminding me that I have a bunch of milk in the freezer from when A was in the hospital and I was home. I should probably give that to him.

dapostrophe I have both the medela PISA and freestyle (it is not something you could just put in your bra, I don’t think medela makes one like that) and they both worked fine. I seem to notice a lot of people getting the spectra lately on my fb groups but I don’t know anything about it. I also highly recommend a silicone pump. You can suction it to the side baby isn’t feeding on and it will collect the milk that leaks out. www.amazon.com/dp/B01L3YZ4DE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_es6ZAb5CFR6HK

Big T and Little T have their first baseball games, same night, different cities, during DD's soccer practice, while H is in California.
Wanted: several assistants, must have large vehicles with all types of car seats, plus if lactating or can teach dog to bark before peeing on the floor instead of after.

I think the handsfree one is called the Freemie? Reviews aren't great though. I might just stick by the old Medela standby unless there is a compelling reason to get a Spectra.

The freestyle is nice because you don’t have to have it plugged in while pumping. I was able to do dishes or help H with stuff while wearing a hands free bra.

My secret is I've apparently always bought the wrong size bra. Lol. FTR, my boobs are still really small. The D cup makes them sound big but they really aren't.
