I’m thinking maybe a nice ‘vegan’ meatloaf? Or a grilled cheese? Some eggs?? I still can’t get over how ridiculous it is that they can’t get it right...

Hello! I may need to throw down today. We had a bad nurse yesterday and I put in a request not to have her again....and we do. MH is telling me to call the nurse manager in right away to get her switched, but I'm slightly paralyzed in socially awkward hating confrontation fear.

wineallthetime give me the name and number to call I'll do it. If you don't feel comfortable with someone providing care you have the right to ask for someone else!

wineallthetime we had a horrible night nurse when ds was in the NICU, she told me ds’ heart had stopped a few times, that things weren’t looking good and he would be in there for weeks... he went home two days later. I made a formal complaint after we were discharged. I’m so sorry you have to deal with this on top of everything else.

wineallthetime I completely understand! I am the same way! MH had to do the complaining for us when S was in the hospital. We only had a few incidents in the 6 weeks we spent in and out. But MH was the best advocate! Because I don’t do well with confrontation.

A has an infection. They're still trying to see if they can pinpoint exactly what it is, but at this point they're pretty confident they're treating it. We will be here at least another week though.

wineallthetime I understand feeling weird about the nurse situation... but you should definitely say something. It shouldn’t be too difficult to switch. And who cares what that nurse thinks.... she sucks. It’s important that you feel good about the care he is getting. And you’re probably not going to be the first person to complain about her.

Give me the number, I’ve got you. Or you can say ‘I want the best possible care for my son, and you’re not it. Please switch off his service or I’ll arrange it with your manager’

I was a magnet for the cats last night, so they slept on either side of me, then B came up at 6am and told me his butt was itchy, I scratched it and he climbed in. Then J started sleep talking and the monitor went off, B never stops moving so I busted outta bed and am in B’s bed now just laying here.
J went back to sleep, and hopefully B too, just one cats has found me, so far. I should really try and sleep.

wineallthetime What happened with the nurse? Bad nurses are not good for a stay, especially in the NICU. I agree with asking to speak to someone and explain the situation. You are A's voice, plus you are also a 'patient' of sorts, so you both deserve the best care and treatment. I'm sorry he has an infection and you have another week stay, but he's in the best place to catch it quickly. nam2013 I hope you're having some ice cream or wine after your week! I got up early and worked out since I have to meet someone to measure our bathrooms for tile. I hate getting up at 4:15 and feel really crabby today. But I love that my workout is done for the day. So last week, when I got the call about FIL, I discovered something was wrong with my cell. I can hear people perfectly, but when I talk, it cuts out really bad. We went to Verizon this past weekend and they ordered me a new phone. It delivered yesterday. The people at the store told me I should be able to take my SIM card out, put it in the new one and everything would be just like normal. Nope. H and I worked on it for awhile last night and I got frustrated and gave up. So I have 2 phones on my desk, hoping our IT guy can help. Otherwise I will be going by the store today, which I hate because there is always a wait.

mwhip. She dropped a syringe of vitamin D on the floor and then lied to me about it after she stuck the whole thing in his bottle and I refused to give it to him. She wanted to poke him a million times for his blood draw and after 4 attempts I had to insist she get someone else. She called me a "princess getting the royal treatment" because I told her I'd never heated up a bottle here before. Usually I'm holding A and his cords don't reach that far so the nurses just heat it and give it to me. Nobody has ever asked me to do it, I just asssumed it was a nurse thing. She's also really negative and annoying in general.

And most nurses realize after a few attempts at finding a vein, they need to have someone else try, so they don't blow the vein or cause unnecessary bruising. And HELL NO to her calling you a princess. Even if she was overwhelmed and didn't have time to heat the bottle, there are other nurses she should have asked, but there is NO reason to make a comment to you like that. Fuck her, I would absolutely complain. I hope your hospital gives you a questionnaire to fill out when you are discharged.

wineallthetime I'm sorry about the infection. I used to be one not to speak up until I was overdosed on morphine after DD was born. Now I have no problem speaking up.

Yesterday I received an invite to a baby shower....... that the mother-to-be is throwing for herself. Complete w registry info and the request that gifts be unwrapped. (I don’t understand this purpose, so if anyone knows, pls enlighten me!)
I’m not going to the shower but I will prolly send a gift once the baby is born.

wineallthetime heck no! Have G call and handle things. I also think the nurse manager would not be one but upset hearing this from you. I'm sure nicu nurses would be embarrassed by the treatment. And dropping something on the floor then trying to feed it to him while he has an infection and compromised immune system!
